Detailed Reviews
We stayed at the suite with sauna over NYE. The location is stellar for anyone looking to spend time in the center as everything is just a few minutes away.
As mentioned before by others, the place might look a bit outdated, but personally I wasn't bothered by it. It was mostly clean with a few exceptions like the faucets in the bathroom.
We really enjoyed the sauna - it heated up fast and it also has a timer if you don't want to wait around for it to warm up. The only downside were the towels as they were quite small and there weren't enough to have something around you between taking steams for lounging around and then a dry one for drying yourself off after finishing and taking a shower. Robes were not provided. We wanted to have another session in the morning as well and for that the receptionist was very helpful by providing us with some new towels.
The room also has a balcony facing the park in front of the house. This is also the direction of windows. Even with the hustle and bustle of NYE we still got a decent night sleep. We also didn't hear other people in the hotel, so that's a big plus.
The breakfast is modest, but filling - a few types of sliced meats, one type of cheese, some cereals, some fruit, slices of tomatoes and cucumbers, omelette, sausages and bacon come to mind. Me and my partner were satisfied, but it can be disappointing for someone with food allergies or vegetarian/vegan diet.

In good sence an oldfashioned Hotel. in the centre of Tartu (Dorpat). Clean rooms and excellent staff. The breakfast is good- the only negative thing is that parking can get a problem as the hotel has only few own spaces.

The hotel has a convenient location in the old city centre: 2 minutes to the Town Hall Square and 15 minutes by walking to the Bus station. It has clean rooms, good enough breakfast and friendly staff. This hotel is excellent value for money!

Unbelievable not friendly receptionist... the rules of hotel doesn't let spend time together with friends in the lobby because of noise talking and bad influence to working task of hotel workers :) not possible to rent any space in hotel , not used area of breakfast room or pay-rent meeting place for guest. Bad business, not friendly managing. Don't be bad surprised guest, do not choose this hotel!

The room was beautiful and modern, tastefully decorated with a nice view of the park. The bathroom was ugly, but clean and functional. Very comfortable beds.
I would give the hotel four stars if it wasn't for the breakfast. The selection wasn't great to begin with, and by 9 am they had run out of most varieties. They were constantly out of coffee as well. There was just one person working the breakfast shift, and he seemed more interested in his smartphone than the needs of the guests.

Very nice place for staying in business. Everything is near, polite and skilled staff. Town hall and main square are 50 metres away. Breakfast is OK, tasty. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Lots of pubs near by.

Noting wrong with this place. Pretty basic but quiet clean and comfortable. Like everywhere we went in Estonia wifi good. On a reasonably quiet road opposite a park leading down to the river. On the edge of the old town but very close to a bunch of modern shopping malls containing all youd need.
Taartu is a very small place anyhow so location shouldnt really be much of an issue.
We had a top floor skylight room. It was unusually hot that day ,28c outside , so the lack of ac was noticed, but I doubt its often an issue. Had the window open all night and slept ok.
Price was high at E110 ex breakfast as there was a triathlon event in town, all hotels were bid up so we took this. There are obviously better hotels in town but no complaints with this.
There is an attached restaurant but we didnt try it.

Barclay Hotel is definitely the nicest place to stay in Tartu. Have stayed at four other hotels in the city but this is my favorite. The rooms have kept their charm and are still very comfortable. Best location over all other Tartu hotels overlooking beautiful central park and university street. Always feel at ease in Tartu when staying here :) just step out and you are right in center of action. highly recommended :)

This is an older but nicely maintained hotel, just a block or two from the main square, and an easy walk from the bus station (maybe five blocks). Staff was very friendly and helpful, with suggestions for restaurants, tourist areas, etc. Breakfast was adequate. Really liked the bathtub, and was enthusiastic about the Jacuzzi-style jets after a long day of walking around - but it was so noisy that I turned them off after just a minute.
WiFi worked well. The windows opened a bit, which was nice to get some fresh air.
My only significant complaint is that my room was directly over some sort of nightclub, so while the first night in the hotel was relaxing, the second was a disaster with throbbing music until 3am. If you're staying over the weekend, request a room away from the nightclub, unless you're a party animal!

Great location, interesting interior, but there were some challenges - Internet was not the best one, breakfast table was almost empty half an hour before the closure and electricity was gone from the bathroom in the morning and did not return...:)
