Late Medieval architecture in one of the oldest houses in Tallinn together with first-class service and possibilities create a unique atmosphere which connects with the environment surrounding the hotel. When renovating the house we respected both the initial architecture and the strict national heritage protection requirements that ensure that both the location and design of the hotel rooms is as loyal to the original concept of the house as possible. In 1997 Tallinn Old Town was included in the UNESCO World Heritage list and that can be regarded as the highest international acknowledgement to any historic town! In addition to a usual lodging experience we offer you an exclusive luxurious boutique-type experience, deriving from the unique design of the hotel building and its medieval legacy. Since all the rooms are unique and different from each other, the visitors may choose the intimacy or luxury of their preferred environment. Our breakfast is made of self-made or farm-grown fresh high-quality ingredients that are not so easily, if at all, found in shops. Natural and fresh breakfast is a unique experience that lights up the whole day! On the lower storey of Hotel Cru you will find a cosy and highly regarded restaurant of the same name. Hotel guests enjoy 10% off all items on the restaurant menu. Dmitri Haljukov, the head chef of the restaurant Cru, represented Estonia in the chef olympics final Bocuse d'Or in Lyon 2015. CRU Hotel is a good choice for both - leisure and business trips!

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

This hotel has a great location in the old town and is close enough to walk to the surrounding neighborhoods, i.e., Kalamaja and Kadriorg. There are many fine restaurants in the area and alot of souvenir shops. The staff is helpful and speak English. A generous buffet breakfast is included at which there are variety of fish, breads, including the great Estonian black break, fruit, juices, and there are eggs and pancakes. My room was large and faced the street, which if you are sensitive to noise, you might be better off with a room facing the court yard. You need to walk up at least one flight of stairs to get to your room, so if you are mobility impaired this hotel is not for you. There is no thermostat in the room. There is free WiFi which works amazingly well in this 600 year old building, a key fob is used and toiletries are provided. A suana was in the bathroom. I only gave the hotel an average rating because the refrigerator in my room was broken and not replaced/repaired during my three night stay and the light was out over the toilet.

This is a boutique hotel with great charm and decor in the old part of the city. Great for a weekend away visiting the delights of Tallinn. The hotel is in a pedestrian precinct, so a cab will drop you a few hundred metres away. The hotel is delightful but not suited to anyone with mobility issues. Lacking in lifts and a very high step in, it might not meet the requirements of some. We had a twin room, which lacked air conditioning (though there was a fan). The room had a coffee pod machine (a bonus !), safe, hairdryer and fridge. The bathroom was nice and thoughtfully fitted. The double glazing was efficient and we could not hear the busy street outside or the restaurant below. With helpful staff and a nice breakfast buffet, even if the eggs were served with the same spatula as the bacon (a real turn off for us vegetarians). All in all a nice place for a get away.

This is a very unique hotel in a perfect location in the heart of Old Town close to everything. We had a lovely warm welcome and thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The whole hotel is gorgeous, from the lovely corridors leading to the very special rooms. I cannot recommend it more.

Unique little hotel in Tallinn old town made out of medieval houses.. Our room was small but had a spacious shower in the bathroom. No problem with noise at night. Good buffet breakfast. Reasonable price and great modern restaurant on site. I would stay there again.

Room Tip: Weekdays probably better than weekends if you want a quieter stay. June was not busy in Tallinn.

Perfect location for the old town, and not far from Estonia bus stop. Our room ( upgraded) was large, with character and windows opening over interior courtyard which allowed us to have fresh air and minimal noise from outside Lovely fresh breakfast which was constantly replenished

This hotel seems to be made up from several buildings put together. From the front, it looks like a narrow townhouse yet, once inside, you may find yourself walking a full block to your room. That doesn't mean it isn't great. The rooms are each different, with old, wooden furniture and large beds with lovely, fluffy linens. The staff are super friendly, and the hotel is on the main street of old town, smack in the middle of everything (yet managing to be super quiet once inside). My only peeve is that, as with many other places in Tallinn, there are few to no options for vegans on the breakfast menu, and it forces us to go out for breakfast whenever we stay there. I hope that this is something they will change in the future, and even advertise, as they it will help with guests. It's a lovely hotel for a romantic weekend getaway. We will certainly keep coming every winter; it'd be nice to be able to stay in, it's very cozy!

A charming collection of old buildings that have been renovated to offer all the latest amenities. The manager was super friendly and helpful, the property was in excellent condition, our room was spacious, spotless and super comfortable. The restaurant is excellent too.

When we travel we try to find quirky places instead of standard chain hotels when possible and CRU was a great choice. The hotel is located in a strict city centre with a walking distance to all the attractions and is suited on a main street, which obviously might lead to experience some of the liveliness from outside. We actually had a room with windows directly to the street and it was not that bad at all. The room that we had was really spacious with classic decor and private sauna in a bathroom. What's not to like! Everyone was friendly and very helpful (my coat button emergency was averted). I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone that likes to feel a bit like in the olden days but with all the luxuries of the modern world

The hotel is a complete mixed bag - some aspects are excellent, some are not. With a few tweaks, it could be a 5 star review. Positives: - Location. This could not be any better. Right near the Viru gate, so a couple of minutes to Town Hall Square, a couple of minutes to great transport and a couple of minutes from the Rotermann Quarter. - Transport links - half an hour on tram 4 from the airport. Perfect. - Breakfast - this was included in our room rate and was great. Cereal, cooked breakfast (we didn’t try this), fresh fruit, bread/toast, ham/salmon/cheese, pastries - a really good choice, and replenished often. - Room - we had the suite with the bath, and the room size was fantastic. It was well- equipped with bottled water every day, toiletries, slippers and a robe. Just the usual issues of never enough coat hangers and tiny towels! A fan was also provided in the room. There was a fridge, but it did not keep things particularly cold as the milk we bought for our hot drinks went off. Even better if: - cleanliness - this was an issue. On arrival there was a cobweb with dead insects above the mirror above the bed, and the small window had cobwebs. There was also a clothing tag under the bed (I didn’t search, you could just see it as you approached), which stayed there all week. When we used cups they were not washed until 2 days later, and this happened the couple of times we used them. When I went to bed there was a sharp lump - it turned out the previous guest had left toy cars under the mattress topper, and these had not been found between guests. I am therefore assuming the bed was not checked properly, and the mattress topper was not cleaned. I mentioned the card to someone, but they did not seem bothered. - Smell - this was not evident on arrival, but was there the second day. We mentioned it and was told it would be sorted, and it was - if you call masking it with some kind of spray (which didn’t do the job) sorting it. The smell was there the next day too, but the following day it was on the floor below as we could smell it as we went up the stairs. - Lack of information- there was no information in the room on the area or things to see. This would have been really helpful. - Helpfulness - we did not find staff particularly friendly other than the male cook - he was always smiley and welcoming. When we checked in the female member of staff saw us struggling with our cases, but there was no offer of help which would have been really welcomed. Point to note: we knew there was no lift, but be aware how steep the stairs are - they are very steep, especially with cases!
