This is one of my favorite hotels in the world. It is not luxurious, it is not spectacular, it does not have sweeping views -- just a great hotel with a friendly staff, amazing breakfast, etc. The lobby is warm. It has a quaint bar and very functional (and always clean) rooms!

First the good news: Von S hotel is a small, independent and very friendly hotel in Tallinn. The hotel doesn't look too glamorous from outside, especially the metallic ventilation shafts around the backyard entrance door... But from inside the lobby, restaurant and liberary are cozy, and the so called Zen rooms are spacious and relatively well equipped. Unfortunately the restaurant...

Booked this hotel as a birthday treat and what a treat it is too. An old former Barons Estate, the hotel is rather nondescript externally, but on entering, the wow factor hits you. Amazing. The staff are very friendly, the cleanliness is second to none, and the rooms are ferry nicely furnished, and the bare rustic brick wall around the...

Stayed at this hotel over the weekend. From the outside it doesn't look much but when you enter the hotel it is brilliant. The room was great, clean and fresh towels every day. The buffet breakfast was lovely with a good choice. The best thing about the hotel is the location. It is superb, right at the foot of Toompea...

The japanese kabuki at the spa (I think it should be called ofuro if it refers to a japanese hot pool) was a disappointment. For me it was a basic sauna and jacuzzi, nothing to do with a real japasene hot pool. And that was the reason why we at the first place took a room here. The staff at...

Great location a 10 minute pleasant walk on the edge of a park to get to the old town.. I preferred staying just outside the old town. Hotel spotless. Staff especially Helen (fluent in Engllish from working in east midlands) was very helpful with transport, places to go and general information. Rooms were very comfortable I could not hear the...

I arrived by train and hotel was very close to the station, that's very comfortable. I've booked a Zen room and called to the hotel with some requirements to the room: provide me the lightest, biggest room they have, with bigger windows... but when I came to my room it was smaller than I requested and there was only one window and half...

Converted family mansion - recently refurbished. Pleasant staff, easy walk to the Centre of the old town, extensive breakfast (coffee too strong unfortunately) Spa onsite - basic one hour massage Euro49. We did notice a foul smell in our room and soon as the staff were aware they shifted our room

If you're looking for a quality stay away from the noisy tourist masses of Tallinn's old town, go for von Stackelberg. It's at a walking distance from both Telliskivi and the old town, just next to Toompea and Pikk Hermann. The building is very charming with old stone walls and charming window "benches". We stayed for two nights, and didn't...

Stayed in this hotel for 6 of the best nights ever had in a hotel! The staff were very helpful and friendly and the hotel itself was beautiful, clean and stunning. The food was great especially the breakfast which offered both a cooked and a continental breakfast with lots to chose from. The fruit shots were a fantastic idea too....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The von Stackelberg Hotel Tallinn by Uniquestay Hotels is a fully renovated lifestyle hotel, featuring modern facilities in a historical setting. It creates something completely new – unique atmosphere, where the old meets the new. Originally built in 1874 as a private residence for a German nobleman, the von Stackelberg Hotel is located at the foot of Toompea Hill, only a few steps away from Toompea Castle and Nevsky Cathedral. To keep the historical interior, the original limestone walls have been kept inside to create a warm and welcoming environment, though combined with modern lighting and design elements. All 52 rooms feature free computers with high-speed internet access and tea and coffee making facilities. Superior Zen-rooms feature whirlpool baths and aroma oil bathroom amenities with bathrobes, slippers and a mini-bar. ... more   less
