Walking into this hotel was like walking onto a Stephen King movie set. The first thought that crossed my mind was …creepy. The lights go on as you walk down to dark corridors and switch off behind you. The rooms have really old styled furniture. This makes the hotel seem "haunted". After checking under my bed I slept went to bed with my bedside light on …….just in case. On the plus side the staff were very helpful, the breakfast was fantastic and it has a great location. However, I will doubt if I’ll ever go back there gain. I am not that brave.
...now is just simple hotel which pretend to be a 4th star. Luxury from ancient times, attacks already at the entrance in the form of dusty, crystal chandeliers and worn out, here and there carpets on the stairs. Nice lady on the Reception, after my request for a quiet room, giving me key card to the room with view to the main railway station, and the one of the loudests city street. But noise from the street is not that annoying, comparing to the noise from the neighbour rooms. Walls were so thin, that when the guest in the room next to mine, sneezed, I felt like he was sitting next to me. So every morning, me and this, unknown guest, woke up at 6AM, as his alarm clock was set for this hour. Even that I planned to sleep bit longer. WIFI in the room, was terrible. I was no able to use Internet. When I check with speedtest - it showned me less than 1mbit download bandwidth. So beeing offline, I decided to watch TV, for some entertaiment. But even that hotel is located less than 100km from the Polish boarder, there is no Polish channels. But you can watch Korean or Russian TV... And the breakfast. When you woke up that early, in some hotels it is a pleasure to go for tasty breakfast. Not in this one. Diluted scrambled eggs, burnt bacon and cheap sausages. Only bread was tasty fresh everyday. So hotel generally it's average. On one hand location in the city centre it is advantage, but if you looking for silent night - go somewhere else. If you like oldskool luxury hotels, then you will love this one, but if you looking for simple, clean and modern style - go somewhere else.…
Stayed here for a few nights and I was sad to leave! It is hard to forget as it is so over the top yet full of history. It is right outside the very run down railway station and two minutes from the main square and shopping centre. Breakfast really was "all you can eat" and one of the best I have had in this part of the world. Expensive but you wont be disappointed!
This hotel is located in front of railway station, but a little noisy on the other side, as well close to the center. The staff is average, the room clean, but average, the service is as well only average
We booked the private dining room for a family reunion. It's over the top crazy glam yet also feels complete tongue in cheek. Food is reasonably priced and delicious. We had a wonderful time and made lasting memories
The hotel has a great location next to the railway station - ideal if you come by train. It is in the city center, walking distance to the main square. We had a room with no view, but it was really comfortable and well equipped, so the view did not matter. Really nice historical feeling in the halls and room, too.
I spent a week at the Hotel Polom in Zilina recently. The location is nice, just a short walk from the beautiful and active Zilina city center. If given another option, there are better hotels available in the area. The Hotel Polom is clean and well maintained, but very dated. The furnishings look to be 30 years old. The shower was difficult to work (far too complicated for the job it needs to do). The wifi didn't work all week, the thermostat had no impact on room temperature. Food in the restaurant was good and hours were accommodating. To summarize, not the best hotel, but met my needs when other hotels were booked.
We stayed at the hotel for one night and for me everything was disappointing! Almost all staff does not speak English and do not understand a single word. Restaurant service was tragic, even pitiful. Although a hotel location is very good, hotel itself have to change and re-organize a LOT of things! Rooms were ok, but like all the hotel - very old-fashioned so it wasn't cozy or something! All in all, big disappointment!
This hotel has very good location across a train station and at the beginning of pedestrian zone, about 5 minutes of walking from city center. It is furnished and decorated in a way, which used to be considered a luxury hotel many years ago - revival style, including heavy curtains and drawings in massive frames. But it is amazingly clean and have very good beds. Welcome letter I found in the room was nice detail which made me smile after a long day. Good bed and friendly and helpful staff were reasons for coming back after my first visit in autumn last year. Unfortunately during my 2nd stay staff, especially in a restaurant was not that friendly and helpful. First night I left the restaurant disappointed and next evening I preferred to go to other restaurant in the city, although food was excellent. Hopefully it was just a bad luck and next time I can enjoy the stay as much as first time.…
This hotel will certainly please old people and Russia because of decoration "Renaissance" and "Premier Empire" (Napoleon). Rooms are OK without being great and WiFI is OK also. No big complains except the air conditionninh which is not efficient to cool the room, and 90% of hotel which has air conditionning. But the hotel is quite close to city center, what is nice. Positive points: - 5 min walk from city center - Good Wifi - Good breakfast buffer Negative points - Parking is 2-3 minutes walk - Decoration which is old fashion for me
