Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very welcoming structure in the center, along the road that leads to the magnificent castle, visible from the hotel.
Efficient and welcoming staff. Dogs accepted (at a cost of €22).
Very spacious and well-equipped rooms (ours also included a kitchenette).
The restaurant is good.
Excellent buffet breakfast.
The only drawback is the car park, which cannot accommodate cars higher than 2 metres, in which case (like mine) you will have to resort to the nearby public outdoor stalls, at a cost of around fifteen euros per day.

I have stayed many times here and its my go to in Trencin, rooms are big but not super modern, that said they are very nice, receptionist is amazing, they always look after me. They have rooms with kitchens so you can cook meals, that was a surprise, very boutique very nice, local and nice. Defo recommended. Beware of how to get there as its up a cobbled street and you wont believe your sat nav but its there, they have a carpark also for about 8 cars. Great location as the main bit is just a 30 seconds walk down a lovely street.

We stayed here two nights when we were discovering the towns of Martin, Zilina and the low Tatras mountains. Compared to the place we stayed in at Bratislava the night before, this place was wonderful. On grounds with any hotel, this place is comfortable and nice. Comfortable rooms with duvets. We had a tv, but didn't watch it. The bathroom was quite large. The shower was big. There was a heated towel rack. Downstairs, they serve a continental breakfast buffet. If i was in this area, i would stay here again.

We found out about this hotel from the Hotel Tatra. They were full the nights we were in town and recommend this hotel. By the way, the restaurant at the Hotel Tatra is quite good.

We paid around 65 Euro. The hotel Tatra's rates around $115 a night.

The hotel is in a nice location on the hillside below the castle. Unfortunately, the nice view from the hotel is the biggest benefit. The room was clean. But the bathroom was in bad shape; poorly cleaned and damaged. There was a bad smell in the room and in the bathroom, unfortunately it was raining and the window could not be opened. The area around the hotel is quiet but in the hotel you can hear guests from other rooms and there is loud music in the lobby from the morning. There is no elevator in the hotel. Breakfast is in a restaurant a hundred meters from the hotel, upstairs, up the stairs; for older people it is a problem. Breakfast is poor, better to go early because there is no food afterwards. The small parking is available. I will choose another hotel again.

We visit Trencin every year and this was our worst accommodation to date. The beds were hard, the shower water supply barely more than a trickle and the noise from passing traffic on cobblestones very annoying.

Stayed here for a weekend while attending the Pohoda music festival. It's a lovely hotel; very central, clean, and I had an extremely spacious room and bathroom (was on the third floor). I didn't try the restaurant, but was told the food was pretty good - the breakfast buffet was also great. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and all in all I had a great 3 nights here.

My journey to the Pod Hradom started on trip advisor, I wanted a smaller quality hotel in central Trencin at a reasonable price and this fit the bill. Upon arrival I was greeted by a very friendly staff member and completed the check in process within minutes. Room was large with kitchen and great bath. As a friend pointed out the amount of storage space (closets, shelves, desk, dressers, tables, etc was extensive and far more than would be needed for one much less two or even five in a two person room.

The bath was typical for a hotel and the water for showers had good pressure and the wood was very clean. Internet service was fast and free, interesting that it was not available in the restaurant area.

The breakfast is included, first day I was later and they made to order (slight misunderstanding as the waiter spoke little English so I had fresh bread, sausages and cheese) second day had a buffet with meats, cheese, egg, beads, vegetables, and more (yogurt, cereal, jams, sausages, and more are available) all in good and w great environment that changes to fine dining in the evening.

Location is great, just a 2 minute walk down the hill past coffee sheep to the plague monument which served as a great place to meet local friends.

The stay was great, bed comfortable and for couples great as it did not have the standard two matrices but one. Check out was easy (could have radially have had late as low season and mid week) and there were no surprises. All in a great experience at the Pid Hradom.

stayed here for a couple of nights on a business trip in Trencin. Have been to this town many times and like it very much. This hotel is in a great setting being at the foot (almost) of the medieval castle. I must say, probably not the most practical if the visitor is not so mobile due to the many steps leading up from the town centre. Although the hotel does have adequate car parking. The staff are great, taking care with a sense of genuine concern for the visitors comfort. Breakfast is above average for this region. I can not comment on the standard of the evening food but the menu looks very good. As a charming hotel at a reasonable price from which to explore this lovely old town, I highly recommend it.

NB: I stayed in the PENZION of the hotel, so this is not a review on the actual hotel

Pod Hradom is situated approx. 10 min walk from the train station of Trencín. To reach it, you have to walk up a somewhat steep, narrow, cobbled road - so probably not convenient for people who have trouble walking, or is you have a big suitcase that you need to drag along. You can drive up, but the street is very narrow, so be prepared. The hotel offers it own parking area.
I stayed in the penzion (cheaper, 50 euros per night incl, breakfast), which is a little bit further down the road. Reception and restaurant are at the hotel though.
The lady at the reception was very friendly and speaks excellent English.

The single room in the penzion was spacious enough and offers free wifi and tea-making facilities. It was clean, although I kept having a lot of bugs in my room - in particular flying ants. They don't sting, but it didn't feel comfortable.
The bathroom is small and not very modern, but clean enough. The bed is quite hard, this seems to be standard in Slovakia. I stayed on a Friday night and there was a lot of noise from surrounding bars and cafes, even when the window was closed.

Dinner at the restaurant was very nice and very cheap - a great combination and also a very nice atmosphere with nice music playing. However, the breakfast buffet the following morning was a great disappointment with little choice and bad taste. Perhaps it tastes better when you're the first to arrive and everything has not been lying around for two hours...

Trencin has a romantic town center with cobbled streets that go up the hill and lead to a path towards the castle, which is open for visits and offers amazing views. Alongside the roads are numerous bars, cafe's and restaurants. Down round the square are even more restaurants, ice cream joints and shops. Outside the historic center are also bars and restaurants, but there the buildings are a lot more modern and less inviting. It seems like a nice town, but you don't need more than a full day there (including a castle visit). Unless you enjoy yourself in one of the very attractive bars at night and end up sleeping through half of the next day...
