This is an awesome guest house. Really cheap. It absolutly clean and if you are lucky you have awesome view of the mountains. Service is enourmously kind. There is a fridge in every room and electric kettle. The best place to sleep before going to the mountains.
Very upset and disappointed! The very rude and grumpy guy at the reception did not want to hear or to accept any of the complains about finding 3 nests of cockroaches in the rooms! Completely unaceptable service .. if you can call it a service at all ! Avoid this place at all cost !!!
This hotel suited us as we were meeting with our friends that live in Spisska Teplica so we only needed a room for one night to use as a base for our stay. It done the job for that. The downside was the curtains were very light. We were grateful for the lovely weather but it meant the sunshine blinded you from 5am. They should invest in thicker curtains. The towels shown on the bed are hand towels and this is what was supplied when using the shower. Again, invest on proper towels. The hotel was quiet and there was a communal area too which seemed to be put to good use and in fairness the location is so central in this town and it is near the railway station also. As I said it was cheap and cheerful and you get what you pay for and it suited us for what we needed it for.
We were pleasantly suprised by this little hotel, the owner is very kind and helpful, and the location is brilliant if you need to use the train or bus station. They place was very clean, and there is a communal kitchen to use.
Yes it is very cheap and you do not get all the refinements of those places at three times the price, but it does the job. It is close to the railway station so that can be both good and bad. You do get your own bathroom, table chairs, beds and shared access to a kitchen. The attached dining room seemed to have closed fore the season.
Family of 7 mixed ages. From 7 to 68. We came for 3 nights.breakfast included. First room was smelly. Asked to change it but owner argued someone should come to the free room in 2 nights. Finelly he gave up. No air conditioning and hot as hell. Not even a fan. The beds in all 3 rooms were not good for more then one night sleep. One inch thick matress. The owner was not customer friendly and every request came with a discution. The younger family part of owners where very friendly. In breakfast we felt like someone is measuring how much we eat. Was not Very nice. The train at night felt like its inside the room. Unbelievable. Low cost with low outcome for us. Will not recommend it for enyone but teens or someone for emergency one night. Parking was free....
That is tha place were we always go back when we visited to the Tarty with my friend. That is a good, pleasant, clean and cheap place. It is perfect for us. Near to the city center and the wonderful mountain. The view is wonderful. You can see the whole Tatry from the room window. The owner is a very kind, firendly and helpful man. We could park with the motorcycle in the yard. They have a good secure parking.
You have got what you pay for, I reckon that’s the most suitable phrase how to describe this BandB. You won’t get luxury or great service, you get a bed in reasonably clean and safe environment. We booked via booking.com and chose this hotel because of price (one of the cheapest hotels we found, we did not need much as we stayed one night only) and great location (10 min walk to AquaCity and Town Centre and 5 min walk to train station). Reception is located on the first floor, first door on the right hand side, not on the ground floor as you would probably expect. Owner is a genuine elderly gentleman, he was about to show us 2-3 rooms however we settled with first one, even though it was quite small, no fuss for us. We chatted with him a lot and he was very helpful and friendly. On the other hand he confessed he does not speak much English, keep this in mind when sending an email or checking in, may get tricky and take some time. There is wi-fi available in the hotel (although reception was pretty weak to be fair) and kettle, fridge, microwave etc. in common area for your use. Good value for money in central location, esp. when staying for couple of nights and don’t need much.…
We booked 2 rooms at this Penzion. It tooks us awhile to get ourselves checked in. There is nobody in the reception. Luckily we were accompanied by a friend that speaks local languange, he helped us locate the personel. Overall, rooms are clean. But there one room has heater and the other room comes with a fridge. There are microwaves, hot plate, kettle equipped at the common area, which provides a lots of ease. Overall we are pleased, except the heater that we struggle a little. It is located very near to the train station. Walking distance to restaurant.
Well, i was looking for a room in Poprad over new years eve 2013 and i had basically no choice but Penzion Slavia, as everything else was very expensive. I had some reservations about staying here, as you can often read that people who own a Penzion in Czech Republic or Slovakia, only use it, to gain as much money from the guest as possible, without providing any value. Well...i was really surprised ! This pension is in no way luxury at all, but on the other hand it's very good value. Location: It's not very far from the main station, maximum 5 minutes if you walk very slow. This means that there could be some noise from the railway, but as there are not many trains at night, we didn't have any problem (but we didn't open the window, as it was freezing outside). Hotel: Well, it's a small pension, with a reception are, where i have never seen anyone (most of the time there was a sign, where you can find the owner). And i think they must also have some kind of restaurant, though they were not able to supply any food while i was there. The hotel has a shared fridge, microwave and water heater on any of the floors, which you can use for self-catering, if the restaurant is not open. Room: I was shown two rooms when i arrived. The first one had a good view to the mountains, but was looking very sparse and not really inviting. The second one was below the roof, much bigger and it had some kind of a cozy feeling. I liked it in the first minute. While i wanted to use it asap, the owner told us that he has to clean it, before using it, which basically meant that he has to sweep through the room and replace the towels. The room had some hard, but comfortable beds, a small tv (no english or german channels), two chairs, a sofa (or third bed), a closet and an extra heater (it was really cold at night, especially in the unheated bathroom). The room didn't look luxury and it wasn't. It had a slight soviet charme with his interior, but i somehow liked it very much. The bathroom was a bit cramped and the shower not really inviting, but it was basically clean and i didn't find much to complain about (well, the odd light not working). Service: The owner of the pension is an old pensioner, who speaks only little english, but who is really nice and always trying to help you with your requests. If he isn't helping you asap, when you have a problem, just try to explain it again to him. I found out that he sometimes doesn't get what you want at first, but after he does, he will be happy to help you out. Sleeping quality: Well, the beds are hard, so if you don't like this, don't go here. Better, don't go to any czech or slovak pension, as beds are always hard. And if people in the next room are deciding to have a party, you will have a hard time finding sleep, too. But in the second night (1st to 2nd of january) i had a very deep and good sleep. Verdict: Well, i paid not much for the room. At first i was a skeptical about the place and especially if they will honor my reservation, as they didn't answer any e-mails. But in the end it turned out to be a very good value place with a very nice owner. Don'T expect any luxury, more the comfort of a good hostel and everything will be fine !…
