I had a lovely week's stay at the Hotel Europe. It is very convenient for anyhow traveling by train, since it is literally steps away from the Poprad-Tatry rail terminal. It is a comfortable hotel with lovely rooms, very quiet. The cafe is very nice and has a good selection of dishes, mostly Slovak, and wonderful deserts. The breakfast is very good. But the best think about the Hotel Poprad is the very attentive and kind staff, from the management to the cafe staff to the housekeeping staff. They were always very helpful and friendly. They also did a very good and quick job with my laundry. Poprad is a very neat and tidy town. The center of town is maybe 10-15 minutes walk from the hotel.
Just stopped for coffee (while waiting for a train) and not going back - ever. I agree with reviews here about rude staff - place was virtually empty (three tables max), so the waitress wasn’t very busy, but she passed us few times without noticing, then brought unwashed glass for water - that lipstick mark must have been visible from space… When we showed it to her and asked to switch it, she just looked annoyed and took the glass without apologizing.
This hotel and its rooms are clean and the beds are comfy . We had a meal in their restaurant, it was delicious, and the staff was friendly. We had a large room and large bathroom.... but no hot water in the shower. When I mentioned it to the front desk the response was “Oh”. We used the shower at 4 pm and 7 am. I would recommend this hotel as it is close to train and bus stations and it is very well keep apart from the lack of hot water. That is why only 3 stars and not 5. “Oh”
We spent one night in this hotel en route to kosice. It’s very handy being located about 50 meters from the station. The hotel itself is nice and in good condition. We had a lovely room. Reception was a little odd as the lady was rather unfriendly however she had warmed up a little when we checked out. Breakfast was also odd, a large room laid out with all sorts of hot and cold food, however it was rather unsettling as we were the only ones there.
Terrible staff , lots of issues . The lady at the reception rude , unhelpful . Didn’t say anything about our breakfast included and where what time served ! I had to remind her . Not talking about no words of any touristic attractions etc Manager also very rude ! Sending us away .. in a rude way .. that if we don’t like the “type of bed .. “ as it was twin instead double as it was booked .. we have to leave ! He kicked us out from the room .. and not one sorry for the incovinience .. nothing .. I would STRONGLY not recommend this hotel to noone .. and even further .. I would cut all connections with the hotel like this ! We do travel a lot .. but this behaviour we have never ever experienced before ! Oh .. and I can’t fiorget .. when contacted reception ... receptionist hanged up twice ! Would love to discuss these issues with the general manager ! Unaccepted , rude behaviour ! Not a single sign of professionalism neither good willing to resolve issue ! Incompetent manager and very rude , didnt care much .. was rushing after girlfriend or wife .. We have left after about 20-30 minutes of arrival time . Took an another place ... which is 300% better ! And mostly everything is as it was advertised Very happy in the new place !!!!…
Very nice nostalgic hotel. Clean rooms, excellent breakfast. Unfortunately no air condition. The good thing - very nice and very well trained people at the cafe and lovely german speaking Lady at reception desk!
This is a nice hotel, situated near railway station. Staff is very kind, they handled my special request regarding breakfast (reason: allergy) with a smile. Rooms were clean. Breakfast was tasty with variety of foods.
It seems that in the town the service is not good but especially in this hotel when we arrived the women in the reception was rude and she did not even take a moment to give us a map or help us understand what was around in the city. In the afternoon an old man was in the reception and the same story, they did not take the time to explain us that breakfast was included. The hotel is clean but the bed is super hard and uncomfortable. By the other hand the cafe in the hotel is pretty good and the lady that attended us there works so hard and is super nice.
We have just stayed for a week on holiday in Slovakia. We were based at a relative's house in Partizanske but spent 2 days in the High Tatra mountains. We stayed overnight in Poprad at the Hotel Europa and what a good choice that was. This is an excellent hotel (4 star rated and actually is) at a very reasonable price. Wonderful bedrooms with great facilities. Everything about the hotel is top class, like fresh flowers in the corridors. Friendly helpful reception, free parking and a great coffee shop/ bar open 8am to 10pm serving hot food. Highly recommended.
The staff at the hotel was amazing however the owner of the pizzeria in the hotel was completely rude and abusive to us and his own staff. We asked him to store our luggage whilst we were in the mountains and at the end of the day when we returned he refused to serves us any food, saying that the kitchen where closed at 19.30... Run away if you can (talking to the staff of the pizzeria too)
