Check-in was handled poorly. We did not meet Jan until the second night at which time we were checked in. We had to get all pertinent information from other guests upon arrival. The bed was comfortable, the shower had good water pressure and the room was clean. Location was close to town and supermarkets. Fifteen minute walk from the train station. The biggest drawback was that the temperature in the room was "miserably" hot. There was no circulation of outside air due to the location of the room. The crisp cool night air never made it into our room even with the window open 24/7. A fan would have made a big difference. Definitely cannot recommend this place and would not stay here again.
Well located about ten minute's walk from the town centre and the bus and railway stations. Latter excellent for getting up to the Tatra mountains. Both our room and bathroom were large, well appointed and spotlessly clean. Opening windows and plenty of places to hang clothes aided our washing. Breakfast was very good (but see below) and served in a large excellent garden room. Owner directed us, and lent us a discount card to, an excellent restaurant adjacent to a shopping centre, a bit out of town but worth the walk. Used it (Fabrika) twice. We were charged €12 each per day for breakfast instead of €8 which the confirmation quoted. The breakfast was good but not worth that amount. There were other financial aspects of the booking that we were not happy with and we'll be writing separately to our booking agency (not Tripadvisor)…
One of the best places I've been to. Room felt very luxurious with spacious room, garden was so relaxing and beautiful, the manager ever so helpful and nice. And the breakfast! Oh, the breakfast! Worth every cent!
This delightful little B&B is located in a top spot, next to a pretty little stream and a short walk to the railway station for easy access to the excellent rail services which include a light rail network to quickly take you to the High Tatras. In short, perfect for those coming to do local treks. Our room was very new, clean and comfortable. (Never did get the TV system to work; this is not unusual.) The breakfast buffet is extensive and delicious, taken in a gazebo in the attractive garden - where you can also enjoy a cold beer after your walk.
The couple pays excessive attention to interior decorating as well as the gardening and breakfast presentation. So enjoyable. The owner is helpful and kind regarding travelling tips. We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed returning each day.
The Vila Mery is roughly halfway between the train station and the zentrum restaurants, about 12 minutes walk to either place. The only catch is that urban planning for Poprad seems to have been done be someone who did not like pedestrians very much. A highway runs up and then bends along the river, topped off with an enormous roundabout where the road from the station comes down to meet the highway. We had to circumnavigate some of this to get anywhere. Fortunately the drivers in Poprad are mostly very polite and do stop at ped crossings. Anyway, the Vila Mery is convenient. We had stayed out at Sabato our first two days, but that was just a bit too far, when we were coming in to the train station to catch a train to the Vysoke Tatra stations every day. The room at the Mery was a reasonable size and included a kettle. There is an attractive garden to sit in if the weather permits. I cannot say anything about the breakfast as we passed on that option. Easy to pick up something when markets are handy. There is a small supermarket halfway to the train station, and two big supermarkets by the bus station.…
We had a phenomenal stay at Vila Mery at the beginning of our hiking trip in the Tatras. The location was excellent and allowed us to conveniently run all the errands we needed to do, and Jan, the manager, and his family, were so accommodating and helped us in many ways. The rooms were clean, spacious, and comfortable, and open onto a beautifully landscaped garden that we really enjoyed. Breakfast was fantastic as well. Highly recommend.
Quiet location just 5-10 minute walk to the main street. Very comfortable room with excellent wifi. Friendly, helpful owner. Beautiful garden and outdoor cooking/eating/relaxing area of a very high standard. Breakfast was excellent and very fresh and tasty. There was only 1 cup and 1 glass for the complementary refreshments for guests in our double room. However, I'm sure if we'd asked then we would have been provided with more.
We arrived at night and were greeted with great politeness. Many recommendations and a sense of will to help including a recommendation for an excellent restaurant Fabrika, where we ate delicious soup and meat soup, and we cooked in a final dish, with beer and everything at an amazing price. Next to the resort there is a wonderful stream to go by in the morning and the amazing breakfast is just a real experience.
Stayed in Vila Mery for a couple of nights whilst exploring the High Tatra mountains. Feel of a boutique family hotel, very pleasant management and staff. Made us feel welcome there. The beautiful garden is an added benefit of your stay there. Only a 10 minutes walking away from city center. I recommend this place and would happily go back.
