The only negative thing for me was the food, which I did not find particularly enjoyable, but it also was not bad in any way, but I'd eat out in Martin next time where there are many good options.
P.S. Sitting in front of the fish tank was such a pleasure.
There is a nice seating area and patio dining area in the courtyard. We had lunch there and enjoyed the outdoors. Also, for walkers, it's easy to walk in the village. And, if you go up to Lipsky, the next village, there are marked trails on the road to the mountains. We walked up to the village (25 minutes), but there was a trail that could go 40 minutes or a couple of hours at the top of the road. We also walked along the field in back of the hotel. It's nice to stretch one's legs after driving. There is a small grocery store a couple of blocks from the hotel. The folk museum is well worth a visit. It's nestled in a forest at the edge of Martin.
First a few ok things. The room and bathroom were both large. It had been remodeled in the past few years so it was in good condition. The bed was ok. The restaurant overall was OK. The staff tried to be helpful.
Now to the other stuff.
I am older and my mobility is less than optimal, though I'm not really impaired. I was dismayed to find there was no elevator! I didn't think to check - I learned a lesson there. Like the other hotels I've stayed at in Slovakia, it had a big, deep bathtub with a shower wand. And this one didn't even have a grab bar. The bed was a low platform bed, so getting up from it was another challenge.
There were also some service challenges. One of the lamps was not plugged in. The little frig was not plugged in and the cord was behind a very heavy chest of drawers. We had to get the front desk to send someone to fish out the cord.
Nine of us had dinner there one night. Overall, the food was good and plentiful, but not something you would drive far for. They forgot to put in the order for two of us and we had to ask again and then wait quite a while.
Special mention goes to the "orange juice" at breakfast, which resembled orange juice in that it was indeed orange. Otherwise, there was no similarity to real orange juice. It resembled watered-down kool-aid.
Overall, I think the picture I posted of the wilted roses at our table the first day sums up the visit rather well.
Room 203 has a problem with the bathroom faucet. The manual switch from faucet to hand shower is stuck and nearly impossible to operate. Complained to the front desk, upon check out and expected some kind of break or discount for the room price but that was declined. One would expect the hotel to compensate guests for this type of malfunction.

The price of the room was good.
We stayed in the presidential suite and could not complain. The only downfall is the location which is a bit away from the city centre and you would need a taxi or a car to get around. On another hand, it is in a tranquil village so if you are seeking a good night's sleep, this is the place to go. Would definitely recommend for functions and/or weddings, the facilities are just superb.
The pricing of the rooms, however, would indicate you are somewhere at the Mediterrean sea and not int he middle of Slovakia's countryside.
Restaurant was well priced for the lovely food & beer it served.
Breakfast was a choice from a menu and was superb & filling.
"We were on the top floor and it had no lift, so carrying cases upstairs was hard work, my tip would be to pick a room on first floor"Read full review
