What a wonderful hotel! Nothing was too much! The staff were friendly and helpful. With a toddler travelling is always fun but this hotel is right inthe centre of the old town so perfectly located when we needed to come back for a mid day nap. The breakfast was simple but delicious located downstairs it was a lovely set up. Felt very homey. The room was clean & I loved the instant coffee sachets! The bit I loved the most about the hotel was the reading area which was quiet & provided the perfect place to sit & relax after a busy day. It also meant I could sit & read whilst my daughter was sleeping.
Very clean rooms, breakfast was included which ch was continental style but thoroughly enjoyed. Checkin desk closes early but can check in regardless of time just have to let the hotel know beforehand. The bathrooms are a bit dated so can’t give it 5 stars. Great location and would stay here again in the future.
We’ve just had a great one-night stay at this hotel after a stop in Bratislava on our way to Prague. You can’t do better than this location, it’s right in the middle of the old, just a few steps from the square. Our room was comfortable and quiet, the staff were great and the breakfast was also good. Our highlight was the restaurant adjoining the hotel - we ate dinner here and enjoyed a delicious traditional meal. Would love to stay here again.
The location is excellent! The hotel itself is fabulous, we had a twin room and it was larger than your average hotel room. The beds were very comfortable, the shower was good, we didn't use the air con so I can't comment on that. We had a fridge in the room which is very handy. The breakfast was tasty, a nice selection of cereals, fruit, breads/rolls, pastries, meats/cheeses/eggs etc and really nice coffee. A few more hangers in the wardrobe would be good. There were just 4. We ate in the restaurant on our first night. It was a nice restaurant but the food was just ok, it wasn't excellent, but it didn't take away from our overall wonderful experience of this hotel.
Let's start with the good: excellent location, nice room (we booked deluxe), friendly staff. And now the bad: reception closes at 6pm, breakfast very poor (in a room in the basement), toilet and bathroom look like a cheap hotel (even though the room itself is very nice) - check the photo. In my book, this is a 3-star hotel with a great location. But what outraged me the most was the fact that it is a health hazard to stay there. On the first evening I wanted to turn on the bedside-table lamp, which I discovered had been unplugged. When I wanted to plug it back in, I got an electric shock. There were wires coming out of the cable (the part that you hold when you plug it in) - see the photo. I was extremely furious at that moment. Had I been an old man with a bad heart, god knows what might have happened... There was no one to complain to (reception closes at 6). The next morning I showed the lamp to the receptionist, who was very apologetic, but still. Something like that is inexcusable!!! I expected the owner or manager to contact us, explain and apologize, which did not happen. We decided to check out and stay at a different hotel even though we had paid for two nights. In a couple of days we got an email from the owner saying that we we will get money back for the second night. He did not address the issue in question. Like it never happened....…
Lovely little old town hotel right at the main square. Close to all the sites you can walk easily. Very central to pubs & restaurants. Nice quiet street. Enjoyed good food in local restaurants & great fun in the pubs. There were three of us in a nice clean spacious room. Breakfast is basic but enough to start the day. Reception organised our taxi to the airport. Enjoyed our stay & would recommend Bratislava & the hotel for a short sight seeing city break.
We spent 3 nights in this lovely hotel in the Bratislava Old Town. The location is perfect, close to the main square, but in a very calm street. The room was very spacious (we were 3 persons), extremely clean linen and towels, big comfy beds. The breakfast is served downstairs in the cellar: sausages, bacon, different kinds of bread, cheese, granola and cornflakes, some sweet bakery, basic vegetables (but please do not keep boiled eggs in the fridge - they were so cold like a piece of ice and tasted awfully). The staff was very attentive and nice. The hotel also has a restaurant downstairs which is a-m-a-z-i-n-g. We had dinners in different restaurants in Bratislava, but our Koliba Kamzik was Number 1! Very tasty and well prepared Slovakian meals - do not go anywhere else, just go outside and book a table in their lovely terrace. Everything what we tried was great. The waiters were fantastic. If we ever come again, we definitely stay in this hotel and have dinners only there :) PS There is a karaoke bar in the same street, but if you close your windows, you wont hear anything.…
Spent nights at this lovely hotel. It is so bright and spotlessly clean. Staff at reception are so obliging and friendly, printed boarding passes and arranged a taxi to the airport. The breakfast room is so inviting and decor is traditional slovakian. Food is also very good. Hotel is also very central with lots of lovely restaurants right on your doorstep.
Lovely hotel great staff great rooms absolutely the best location rooms are generous and spotless house keeping is excellent will recommend and return . Ideal for exploring on foot only minutes away from major bus station ( most bsp )
We stayed at Aplend over New year with another couple. We could not have been happier with the hotel. Location is fantastic right in the old town and it was friendly, comfortable and clean. The staff were helpful and our rooms lovely. The icing on the cake was the hotel restaurant which having eaten elsewhere other nights, realised we were sitting on one of the best in the old town. The food was amazing and the restaurant manager Ratislaw was so helpful. He overheard us asking at reception about a table for new years eve and being told it was fully booked. He went to the trouble after hours to check the schedule and squeeze us in. All in all a brilliant stay and I would definitely book again when next in Bratislava.
