Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great spot for Stags or Hens.
Boat Hotel is a novelty and an interesting topic for conversation.
Staff are very friendly, beer is ok but the tolerance of the staff is unreal. Put up with a lot of messing from large groups.
It's basicly a floating hostel, small and basic but exactly what you need for a lads weekend away.

We travelled as a family of 5 and had 2 rooms on the lower deck. The only obvious fire escape door was locked. I then discovered that all the fire extinguishers had been removed and collected together at reception. When I asked about it, concerned about our safety, the lady on duty said that some guests let them off so they removed them all and for me not to be concerned about fire if I was not going to make fire!
The décor of the botel is very poor, and 'beds' are fold down fabric sofas with a sheet thrown over the top. The curtains are dangling in sections from the poles - reminded me of student digs.
Had booked through Booking.com and paid £123 for one night, with city tax to be paid on top. Thankfully I had the confirmation sheet with me, as after check in, the man on duty tried to charge me 276 euros for the night!
The breakfast provision was diabolical - boiled frankfurter sausages & the worst looking scrambled eggs I think I've ever seen (how can you go wrong with scrambled eggs??) Fruit was a bowl of manky apples - nowhere near image on the website!
I spent a year backpacking through Asia & Africa, and am not naïve regarding accommodation, however for a break with my children this botel did not meet any of my expectations.

it is good botel, in center. you can very quickly be in city. it is nice accommodation for one night stay and it is much cheaper from other hotels in area. Botel has a great restaurant on the top, and from there you have great view at night. One tip: the name of botel is written with very small letters, and we couldnt see that from streets, but name of this restaurant on top is surf'n'turf and it is written with very big letters. :)

This is a very good place to stay if you want to be right in the city center. You stay on a boat lying in the water. I had a view to the bridge and the UFO and that was really great - also in the evening. Great size room, a lot of light and a small bathroom.
The only downside was that the shower didn't let water out fast enough so you had to shower fast.
The breakfast is in the restaurant on the top also with a great view. Pretty standard breakfast - nothing special, but better than nothing :)

Stayed for one night.

Great location, close to the old town. Reception staff were excellent.
Room was basic & dated, but the river view was nice. Curtains didn't cover all the windows though, so difficult to sleep late.

Bathroom was clean, but quite cosy. Breakfast was in the bar area upstairs, and was basic, fresh and plentiful. The bar top area was still full of unwashed glasses from the bar the night before though.

Ideal for a brief stay, if basic accommodation is all you need. Incredible value for money too, as bed & breakfast was less than £40!

Stayed in the Botel for 2 nights over a leisure visit in Bratislava. An interesting alternative for a hotel; 2-star a bit shabby small room. Simple breakfast. Negative was the stench emanating from the toilet: had to keep the door closed, and visiting the loo/shower was not a pleasure. Bad pipings perhaps..?

Had our car parked for free in a nearby US embassy, where it was definitely safe. Location of the Botel was ideal and close to the old quarters, and waking up very close to the water of Tonava was a pleasure.

This botel is okay for 1 night as fairly close to everything in the old town and is an experience however I wouldn't stay for longer than 1 night. views on the river were very nice. breakfast was quite poor. Reception were very nice and helpful.

Close to old town and the castle. Easy to find and both bus(novy most) and tram(nam. L. Stura) stop near by. Breakfast is ok. Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. The interior on the other hand is very old and almost a little run down witch we found to be charming.

Call me old-fashioned and boring, but when I book a hotel room I like to be able to get some sleep. This hotel is essentially a floating nightclub with the top room blasting out bass till the early hours.

In summary, great if you like nightclubbing but not great if you like sleeping. I like sleeping.

Room was basic. Uncomfortable hard bed, no face cloths, hand towels, etc. the worst thing was no air conditioning. Don't stay here during summer months. Breakfast was very poor. The positive was our room faced the river which was nice. Also, the location to town is good. Botel is no frills!

The hotel allows you to lock them up just outside. It is just next to the receptions. We really liked the hotel.

I don't think it has a disco on board, but city centre is within a 5 min walk. The renovation might be finished as I don't remember any works being carried out at Christmas time when I stayed there. They deffinitely serve breakfast on board, but not sure about lunch and dinner meals! Hope this helps! :)

Grazie
Answer from Alessandro
Mogliano Veneto, Italy47 contributions13 helpful votes
