Detailed Reviews
Located on the left bank of the river Danube this hotel affords an excellent base for discovering the delights of Bratislava and also further afield.
We stayed as a party of five split between three rooms. The rooms were very dated and all floors had the appearance that they had not been vacuumed between customers.
Between the three rooms we had a broken shower, reported twice but not fixed, no air conditioning and only one fan between us, plugs missing from sinks, no safe, no tea/ coffee making facilities only these could be purchased at reception.
The curtains had missing hooks and did nothing to block out the early sunrise, the net curtains were faded and ripped, the walls are paper thin and throughout the night you can hear the music blasting out from the nearby bars.
Breakfast is served on the top floor bar which looks as though it has had an upgrade in recent years and there is a small terrace should you wish to sit outside.
The selection is limited with sausages, scrambled and boiled eggs providing the hot items along with cold meats, cheese and the usual cereals and breads.
After the first morning of our seven night stay they ran out of tea bags and after asking several times these were never replaced.
The outside of the the hotel could do with a lick of paint along with the corridors and doors.
Transport to Budapest, Vienna or Devin Castle is just 5 minutes away by either boat or bus.
The delights of Bratislava are just a short 10 minute walk away although the train station is a 30 minutes by foot.
All in all if your looking for somewhere cheap and cheerful in a great location without certain comforts then this could be the place for you.

Boatel Gracia is a mixed bag. The rooms are very simple, with no refrigerator and no air conditioning (despite air conditioning being claimed on their web page). The night receptionist was friendly, but the daytime person was crabby. Also, booked a river view room and was given the city view. However, the price - although not very cheap - was normal for the city center, and the views and convenience to the city center is great - the best part.

The place is situated right in the city center and one cannot really miss it. The lady at the reception was kind and professional. The room was a bit smaller than expected but the space was managed excellently. Everything was clean, and the bed comfortable. Only concern was the thickness of the walls, and the risk to hear other guests noises during the night. This did not happen and we slept magnificently and in silence, despite the position of the Botel near one of the main road of the city. During morning we had breakfast on the upper deck, lovely but the choice was very limited nevertheless overall good. Only point to raise in this regard is the juice machine, which with the carbonation did not remind at all the taste or fuirts. Finally checkout was quick and smooth.
Overall very nice expwrience, definitely worth for the money paid for the stay.

Great location. Junior Suite has private terrace to watch the non-stop arrivals of cruise ships, ferries and barges. Fascinating city break with a difference. Good choice for breakfast. Right in city centre but, when on board, you feel away from traffic and fuss.

I stayed for 2 nights and was very pleased with the Botel. A friendly, helpful reception staff. The room/cabin was spacious and clean, and the bed comfortable.
The location is perfect. Very close to the old town and all the sights. All at a very reasonable price. Recommended.

Really nice stay and a lovely breakfast. Friendly Ukrainian lady serving the breakfast. Would definitely go back. Only criticism is everytime we went to reception there was a different receptionist and told us conflicting things for example we asked about booking a taxi and the man on the reception told us they only go to Vienna airport and then the following day the lady receptionist was able to provide clear information and booked us a taxi for our return to the airport in Bratislava. We was told the bar was open on the Monday night but it was shut. The staff just need to be better informed and more on the same page. This would not stop us staying again though as we throughly enjoyed our stay.

This is the 2nd time I have stayed here, so I knew what to expect. I wasn't disappointed. A comfortable cabin, friendly staff, great location, and a lovely breakfast. The bar is good for a pleasant drink in the evening. Recommended.

My wife and i stayed at the Botel Gracia in August, 2000, and it was a fantastic experience. The accommodations are average, but perfectly comfortable. We had a great dinner on deck for very little money, and the experience of sleeping on a gently rocking boat while all kinds of ships went by on the Danube was unforgetable. The location is great also, very close to the Old Town. We plan to go back in the summer of 2005!

We were looking forward to staying at the Gracia Botel after seeing the pictures on their website. Our first impression of the Botel when we arrived last week was the awful smell in the entrance hall. The reception and bar area looked ok but the rooms were definately nothing like the descriptions and pictures on the hotel website. The rooms were very dingy looking and the shower was absolutely tiny. Some of the taller people in our group could not even fit in the showers. The carpets were stained in several places and the sink, shower and toilet were stained brown in places where the enamel had worn away.
The smell of sewage was the worst thing about the botel and the whole place had a shabby dingy feel and was in desperate need of a complete refurbishment. Luckily we managed to find another hotel nearby which was a bit more expensive but 100 times better. I think we would have paid anything just not to stay in the Botel.
I know the Botel was cheap and I didn't expect luxury but I have stayed in many budget hotels and youth hostels in the past which have far higher standards of cleanliness.

Response from Stanislav B, Guest Relations Manager at Botel Gracia
Responded 22 Nov 2011
Many reviews, like the one above, are complaining about the "awful smell" in our hotel. We would like to inform all our past or future guests that this problem has been eliminated almost a year ago with the start of hotel renovation. NO SMELL in our hotel since the renovation. COMPLETELY RENOVATED, reception, rooms, restaurant. All these changes have been started with the arrival of a new owner. Since then we have been providing top comfort to all our customers. We invite all unsatisfied guests of the "old era of Botel Gracia" to visit our hotel and really feel the difference. Miroslav Bencic Guest relations

I recommend restaurant Kogo with seafood… it´s 5 min by walk.
The hotel allows you to lock them up just outside. It is just next to the receptions. We really liked the hotel.
I don't think it has a disco on board, but city centre is within a 5 min walk. The renovation might be finished as I don't remember any works being carried out at Christmas time when I stayed there. They deffinitely serve breakfast on board, but not sure about lunch and dinner meals! Hope this helps! :)
"Rooms with a view to Danube and UFO tower are recommended. At the other side of the boat there is no view."Read full review
