Once you get past the weird location (not as accessible to the train station Google Maps suggested) and the long, awkward driveway up to the front door (yeah, don't go into the fancy downstairs wine cellar, if it's open, the people in there will look at you like a street tramp) ... the rest of the stay was great ... pleasant, helpful front desk staff and a comfortable, roomy room. p.s. there is no air conditioning, a continental European thing ... my stay was very comfortable but I can imagine the room might get pretty hot in the dog days of summer.
The hotel is in a great location – close to the city centre for exploring and close to the train station. The room was spacious and very clean. It was well equipped with toiletries and towels. The bed was very comfortable. Mini bar is equipped with wine from their own winery. I really liked the separate private bathroom and toilet. 24-hour front desk and very friendly and helpful reception staff. Nice breakfast.
This is a great hotel with friendly staff and comfortable, clean rooms. Ours was facing the side of the building and very quiet. We had a comfortable mattress, good bed linen and soft towels. We also enjoyed the breakfast. Empty plates on the buffet were refilled immediately. The only negative remark has to be made about the elevator which was small and very slow, especially when several people wanted to have breakfast or check out at the same time. The hotel offers a big, well kept, parking place behind the building. We walked to the center of the town and to the castle easily. For the first 200 meters one had to go past some rundown buildings, after that the area looked friendlier and we always felt safe. Hotel Matysak offers excellent value for money.
Very spacious room, nice bathroom(s). Everything spotless. The two staff members we met (the receptionist and a young man taking care of the breakfast) were very friendly and helpful. We even received a tour of the wine cellar, which is spectacular. The hotel has a parking (5 euro/day) and a wine/liquors shop (10% off for the hotel’s guests). Unfortunately, the restaurant offers only breakfast (which was quite good and diverse). The location was exactly what we looked for (easy to drive to it from the highway and at walking distance from the city center). It is also close to some good restaurants and to the house of Slovak president.
Kupelna velka a cista, dost uterakov. Ranajky priviezli na izbu, chutne. Pri checkout dalsi velmi mily pan. Celkovo za mna super, ak bude treba ostat v BA cez noc urcite sa vratim ku vam. We stayed overnight with my dad. Came around midnight and receptionist was very nice, smiled and explained everything including breakfast service changes due to covid. Room was very nice, clean and smelling good. Not like cheap air freshener as other hotels. There was small fridge with mini bar included. Bathroom very spacious and whole room spotless. Breakfast delivered to our room on pre ordered time, very tasty and freshly baked rolls. Another nice and smiling receptionist in the morning while checking out. Overall our stay was very pleasant, will definitely stay again. Plus you get 10% discount to buy their own wines in shop nearby, very good wine i must say.…
We stopped off in Bratislava for 26 hours on route to Romania travelling by train. This hotel is very close to the station when you look at the map but in reality it further away then you think. Come out of station walking down the slope past the bus stops, turn to the right across the footbridge which with cases means going up and down all the slopes. Once across the footbridge turn back on yourself, you are now in Prazska, the hotel is about 4 minutes walk up this road laid back on the left. The hotel entrance is at the back of the building up the slope to the car park. Got it? Good! I'm not sure if this is trying to be a restaurant with a hotel or a hotel with a restaurant, but in any event we had a nice stay, the room was comfortable, maybe too much furniture, Air con unit, no kettle but we had brought our own. Our room was at the back and looked out over some gardens we could hear birds singing and given that Prazska is a busy road no noise from traffic. We had a very comfortable nights sleep, the breakfast was very good. It's easy access to the city centre from the hotel by catching the number 1 tram from the railway station to the city centre, without suitcases the walk to the station is very simple. One thing about the hotel, it doesn't really have a bar for a night cap you have to use the restaurant bar, I think the barmen thought I had come in off the street asking for a drink and to watch the World Cup, say no, no, until my wife pointed out we were residents. Traveled by coach from Budapest.Hotel is about 10 minutes by taxi.A taxi asked us 15 euros to hotel and another one who was nice charged us only 8 euros.Hotel is about 10 minutes walk to main train station.Check in was cold ,lady receptionist was not welcoming but Mr receptionist was very nice and helpful.Room spacious and clean facing flats.Breakfast basic.City center and old town within walking distance
Due to a mishap en route in Vienna, we were late arriving in Bratislava. In spite of several phone calls,we could not find the hotel, so took a cab. This made us too late to dine, which was a shame as the dining room had looked attractive. The hotel is fairly modern with a spacious bedroom and large comfortable beds The bathroom was first rate and everything spotless. We were woken by birdsong and enjoyed a simple breakfast. In daylight, our walk back to the station showed how close we had been the previous night, which made our late arrival even more frustrating..
Lovely comfortable room with seperate toilet and bathroom. Air conditioner provided which was great as it was extremely warm during our stay. My request for a quiet room was met as our room did not face the busy main road. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is served in the hotel restaurant in the basement with a good selection of (mainly cold) items. Limited hot breakfast items - fried eggs and sausage at the weekend with the addition of omelettes and mushrooms on the Monday of our stay. The hotel is a short walk from the main train station and about a 30 minute stroll to the old town with all the shops and restaurants etc. We ate dinner one night in the hotel which was very good. Reasonable selection on the menu. The hotel has a car park with free parking. Great value for money and would definitely recommend.…
Reviews have been a little up and down, so I approached with trepidation. Firstly the walk to the hotel is around 600 yards, and though not stiff you wouldn't want to be dragging suitcases. Up and over a footbridge that has Soviet era stamped all over it, even the biting wind as you cross it, and you are two hundred yards away up the sort of road you are half glad it's not 2 a.m! The hotel itself is really a surprise, and really not in keeping with the area in which it resides. Pleasant knowledgeable staff, a quiet well appointed room, and a restaurant lay out that impresses. I did dine there too, but though the service was attentive, the meal fell a little short of expectations. Perhaps that's my fault too as I stayed with salads and chicken, so the chef could really come up only with the sum of it's parts. A breakfast in keeping with it's *** as a hotel, but for me the hotel did a little more than that. Though the evening meal was not so special, the hotel did more than meet expectations. Well done, and so convenient to the most unattractive train station I've yet to see! …
