Detailed Reviews

I stayed here for 3 days on a work trip. The pluses:
1. Location is the best. A half mile walk from the Old Town area. The property is facing the River Denube so nice walk/run location the minute you step out of the property.
2. I got the breakfast package and its plentifful and skipped lunch because of the variety of selection. Whats really unique is other than all the standard fruit juices, they have two additional choices of carrot+another vegetable and beats+a fruit. Really enjoyed them to my heart's content
3. Their fitness center (photos attached) is outsized for a hotel property. It is massive and every equipment/free weight you would find at a dedicated health club. Its probably a top 3 fitness center at any hotel I have stayed at. View from the center is pretty awesome as you can see the River Denube on one side and residential area on a hlltop on another.
The not so greats:
1. Food menu is limited to just pizza after 10pm. I realize that at some point hotels have to limit what the kitchen serves and 10pm is good a time as any. But there should be some choice (even cold sandwiches)
2. There is a bit of misdirection as to the pool. Not sure if intended or unintended. You look at the pictures and can assume there is a pool available for guest use. The pool is part of a spa run by a different company and not available for general guest use unless you consume a spa service. I happen to have use of pool voucher but I didn't have time to use it but this is not correct to put the photo on. Any hotel I have been to that puts a picture of a pool is implying that anybody can use it without paying more.
I just want you to be aware of it, thought there are plenty of other good reason to stay at the hotel.

Dear Frank, thank you very much for taking your time to share comprehensive review of our hotel. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay and appreciated the services we delivered to you. Thank you for your compliments pertaining location, breakfast and fitness center. At the same time, we are very sorry to hear that you didn't completely enjoy yourselves and your stay. We are not able to visually separate the photos of the pool. But the information about extra charge for spa could be seen everywhere. We are looking forward to meet you again soon. With kind regards, Hotel Management

If you are looking for a luxury stay in Bratislava, this is the one hotel for you. Rooms are plush and modern, especially their suites which offer expansive views to the Danube. The hotel is both modern and luxurious. It boasts one of the most impressive spas in Central Europe complete with two saunas, hot tubs, steam room and heated pool. Book a suite for free entry.
Staff are highly competent and professional, handling every request with precision. I have to make a special mention to Kegan, Daniel and Erna. They offered great hospitality throughout my stay, as did all other staff I interacted with at the property. I also have to mention housekeeping, who were incredibly discreet and kept the rooms to an immaculate standard during our stay.
Breakfast is a semi Ala-carte concept and all courses were delicious. It is nice to have table service and this is a true 5-star diamond standard. The club lounge is also a great place to enjoy drinks and light fare in the evening.
I would not hesitate to recommend the Grand Hotel River Park and very much look forward to my next stay there.
Best,
Matthew

Very modern room outside of the city centre. I booked this 5 star hotel as a treat for my friend's 40th birthday after not seeing each other for 3 years due to covid-19. On check-in, I was told breakfast was not included and the hotel itself did not have a pool as advertised but a separate private spa at €35 per person per 24hours. I was very disappointed and requested to upgrade my package to include breakfast and spa access (being willing to pay the extra charges) and I was told this wasn't possible. The reason I booked the hotel was for breakfast and the leisure facilities. It was so wonderful to see my friend and spend time together but I felt the break away had been ruined which broke my heart. Parking was also ridiculously priced at €35 per 24hours. I cancelled my last night's accommodation and booked myself into the Hotel Marrol's 5-star Hotel instead which included breakfast and a welcome drink for less than I was paying in the Grand Hotel River Park for room only. The location is also not as ideal. The tram finishes a little after 11pm so we had to walk back last night in the rain. This hotel may be modern but based on the cost, location and lack of customer service from reception and reservations I would recommend elsewhere for your stay in Bratislava. The room also has no tea/coffee making facilities and even though it advertises castle hill view rooms, from nowhere in the hotel can you see Bratislava Castle (more false advertising).

Dear Mrs Coleman, thank you very much for sharing your feedback on you recent stay with us. We are very disappointed that we did not meet all your expectations. We were not able to edit your reservation, as your reservation was not direct, but through one of the OTA's. Fact, that the spa access is not free of charge is communicated everywhere. As for your room, the room type is called Castle Hill View, not Castle view, so this is not a false advertising. There is no information anywhere, that you will see the Castle from these rooms. It will be a pleasure for us to make a difference and exceed your expectation during your next visit to Bratislava. Kind regards, Hotel Management

The hotel has decent facilities but the service is very mixed. Our check in was just awful. Rude and mistrusting was the vibe. Despite the fact we had paid for our stay in advance we were told as you havent stayed here before we dont know you so we want a payment of 4 nights in the hotel plus extras. Not just our credit card details. I refused and they backed down. We were virtually told off for arriving three hours before check at 3pm. Bearing in mind this is a five star hotel I dont except to be told if you want a taxi you need to organise an Uber yourself.
Our Executive room came with access to a lounge on the nineth floor except we couldnt access it with our keys. It is only when we complained that access to the lounge was included in our booking that we were given new keys. Perhaps they hope guests wont use it.
We discovered the pool area was not included in our booking and we had to pay e35 per person per visit. Complete rip off and not made clear when we booked.
It is a shame because it has the potential to be a good hotel but was not a patch on the Marriott in Warsaw we stayed in a couple of months ago.
One of the worst hotels we have stayed at for sometime.
Location isnt great you find yourself walking every day the same three quarters of a mile back towards the old town.
The positives was it was very clean and some staff were nice to us.

Luxury hotels in Bratislava, aware that it was not close to the center, we took pleasant walks with our dog along the Danube. The hotel is very nice comfortable and clean rooms, the SPA is particularly nice and welcoming, too bad that given the Christmas period, some rude families mistake the SPA for a playground for children (!!), and none of the staff has ever intervened, the prohibitions are ONLY written and NOT respected. Our stay in general was pleasant, the score not high is due to significant disruptions: heating in the room too high and not adjustable even after my complaints, lights that turned on at night by themselves, the last day the card / key did not work and 3 times replaced! And to conclude at the start we were stuck in the garage because they did not change the card to be able to get out ..!! Two-star service. That's too bad.

The rooms were nice and quiet. Pillows very soft though (too soft it was a little uncomfortable/unsupportive!) and the room was very hot with a temperamental air con unit.
We were surprised there wasn’t a kettle in the room so we could wake up to a quick coffee. On our final night we did call up for one and they did bring one up, but with how £££ the room is you’d expect access to a kettle at all times, in my opinion.
The thing that let our stay down was we went to the spa and there was a six month old baby in the jacuzzi with NO nappy on! After paying an extra €35 each to use the spa, we had hoped for some luxury. I did mention to the staff about this but they didn’t do anything and it put us off going in the two jacuzzis the baby went in. There is a sign with an age limit but no one seems to care, not even the staff. To be honest I’d expect a refund as I felt I couldn’t use the whole spa because of this.
Staff friendly and helpful at reception.

The hotel is price but the spa staff is nefarious, very rude the spa staff and also charge you 35 euros to enter the pool of the same hotel.

You must be able to buy a 5 star rating because this place certainly falls short. The room is nice but certainly not 5 stars. The mini bar is outrageously overpriced (I know, they all are, but this one would give you the impression you were in Beverly Hills). I asked the desk for a simple thing to make my visit more comfortable, earplugs, and they didn’t have that. I’ve never stayed in a “5 star hotel” that didn’t offer this simple amenity
The breakfast was just bad. For starters they have the audacity to charge €57 for their buffet. I almost burst out laughing! We chose the a la carte option and I made the unfortunate mistake of ordering the omelette. It was absolutely disgusting. It was overcooked and swimming in oil. An omelette shouldn’t be crunchy.
When I booked this they mention some rooms have a hill view. I’d advise against it as we had a lovely view of a cemetery. Bottom line, this is a 3 star hotel posing as a 5 star hotel. You have better options in Bratislava

we stayed one night at this hotel. We were greeted by a front desk attendant (Zuzana) who was not particularly welcoming. The room was average in size and had a side view of the Danube. The worst part (but that's my fault for not checking) was the location about 20 minutes walk from the city which is ok during the day but after dinner not so convenient. Breakfast was very nice but a little expensive. The restaurant was closed for lunch so we ended going next door (which was fine). During our checkout, we were informed that our car service was waiting for us so we were trying to leave in a timely manner but the same Front desk person was busy helping another couple check-in and completely ignored us (not calling for another attendant) . After waiting more than 15 minutes, the concierge took pity on us and let us give them our email so they could send us the bill and check-out. I would not stay here again, the location is too far from town, staff is very uneven and rooms are nothing special.
