The lobby and the common areas look fine - the ladies at reception were very friendly and efficient. We stayed in a family room which at a price of 65 euros incl breakfast was good value.
The room itself was not in great state even though it had obviously been refurbished since the Communist days. All the furnishings are threadbare and the bathroom could do with a make-over.
A functional choice in a lovely city.
Rooms are reasonable but hard beds, and truly awful pillows, they have to firmness in them at all!
Water pressue is variable from room to room...
TV is tiny (14in), but then there is no english tv channels so useless anyway. I don't think I've ever stayed in a hotel which doesn't have a news channel in English!
This hotel has a lot of faults but the breakfast service is the worst. The staff aren't interested in serving the customers, all they want to do is clear tables and set up for lunch, even at 8:30am.
I have had to sit at an unclean table as half the tables are reserved for lunch at 8:45am! Then go and take cutlery from other tables as the staff can't be bothered to reset the table once they've cleared it, and prefer to stand and talk to each other.
Breakfast should be served till 10am. I arrived one morning at 9am and it had been cleared away, and the lack of english among the staff rendered a complaint pointless.
Thankfully I'm leaving in the next couple of days and hopefully never returning.
The only positives, the Internet connection in business rooms is good and a total lifesaver!
But to be honest I have to say their staff is very kind, attentive and smiling - something what you can not see often in Slovakia. Breakfast with good and wide choice are another positive.
I stayed here just because I had to.
Shame they do not have a money to update their rooms and common areas.
