hotel reservation system not working properly, and if you want to reserve room via phone they tell you that you have to do it online or they all booked anyways is not. Or if you get confirmation from booking and if you will not come till 8 pm they will not give you room. Bad experience several times not recommending this hotel.
The location of the hotel is ideal. The room was comfortable, though the cleanliness of windows could be improved, The food was no good. Service was not very friendly .There was no responsable person to turn to, when in trouble. There is no elevator and the steps are misleading..
First we walked in hotel and it looked ok, because we knew that this is 3* hotel, but when we finnaly got the key from reception(reception lady dont speak english or russian) we went to our rooms that were not cleaned, beds were all messed up, wine bottles on the ground, glasses with drinked wine was on the table. When we went to reception she didn't believed that we were saying the truth, so she went up with us, and even then when she saw dirty room with no cleaning she had the nerves to put it on us, by saying that we maked this mess by our self. In 2mins? Is it even possible? And one more thing she never sayed that she is or hotel is sorry. Worst staff atittude in my experience
Rooms are ok but outdated, well isolated from noice outside. Breakfast ok. Major disappointment is that there's only wifi in the lobby and not in the rooms. Strange if you advertise yourself as a business hotel.
Staff wasn't able to service credit card payment and demanded up front payment (which I wanted to do but via credit card) unless they will not let you in, this was 8 PM after long working day. Then this reception women (when I eventually fixed cash for her) started bothering me few times asking me whether I'm alright.
Given the location in remote Slovakia, it is OK - you clearly can't compare to a major city. It is an old hotel that really could do with some TLC, and suffered when hot last week (38c outside) as no aircon anywhere so was baking in rooms. Wifi only works downstairs, but will give you a patch lead if you don't have one. Breakfast basic but will cook eggs etc to order. Bathrooms basic, shower head at waist height and screen did nothing - flooded the bathroom extensively in minutes. Minibar included in price(!!) which may account for higher than expected rate for the location. Very short stroll from main square, with lots of restaurants and bars.
We visited the hotel during a warm weekend. The twin-rooms are very small and there is no airco. When you open the windows to get some fresh air you will be awake early in the morning due to the noise in the street. Staff is very friendly. Nice location near the city center.
I have no idea how this hotel ended up no. 1 hotel in Banska Bystrica on Trip Advisor. Although staff are very friendly and keen to help, the place smells (not the rooms but all the common areas) and needs serious renovations. There is also no elevator which was not very convenient for my 72 year old mother who had to climb to the fourth floor. Breakfast was terrible and parking a challenge but the location is excellent, just off the main square.
This "hotel" was the worst I have ever stayed in! In a nutshell the staff are awful, rude, unhelpful. Rooms were dirty, our sheets had blood on them and we're not changed once during our 3 night stay. Breakfast was terrible. Once the food is gone it is not replenished so if you don't get to breakfast before 7am forget about it. I simply can't understand how this hotel acquired a 4 star rating!
A nicely styled, if not slightly older property. It is located next to the state opera house and only a 2 minute walk from SNP square restaurants. ROOM- I had a single room on the first floor above the cafe. No noise problems whatsoever as there is an intermediate floor in between. Furniture and zebra striped headboard are Art Deco in style and very fitting with the age of the property. I found the bed on the edge of too short for my 1.83m frame. Not too much extra free space so I would classify it as cosy but nice. BATHROOM - Was disappointed to find a long black hair hanging from the shower handle and a half used bottle of shampoo on the wall top in the shower (mind you, it is about 2.5m up...maybe the maid didn't see it up there?) Made me wonder if the room was cleaned at all or not. Sometimes when flushing the toilet, it wouldn't completely recycle thus continuing to drain into the bowl all night long until I got up to rattle the flush button. The drains to the shower also run a little slow in some of the rooms (mine and a few friends'). Probably just needs some cleaner to unblock some of the accumulated hair. FRIENDLY STAFF- Had no issues with the staff. Spoke English well and were willing to help out. Restaurant staff were attentive with clearing dishes, even during the morning breakfast rush. Interesting in that there didn't seem to be anyone manning the omelet pans. Wasn't sure if I was to make my own or not. I chose to eat from the hot options and was happy with the wide selection of food. Enjoyed the fact that there were cold fresh fruit and veg options. OVERALL- Reviews on this site indicate this is the best there is in B.B. You certainly can't beat the location. I would return again.…
