Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Firstly as has been said before, this hotel is in a great spot, 2 minute walk from the main square and the museum (where I was working).

I found the staff very pleasant, English literate and helpful.

The room is laid very nicely, I did not notice anything unclean or out of place, the bathroom maybe has a cracked tile here and there, but that did not detract from a nice feel in the room. The bed was comfy too.

The restaurant downstairs has some good food for lunch and tea, but I would recommend finding somewhere else in town for some hidden treasures. I think the service in the restaurant could be improved and maybe take some lessons from other premium hotels to nail the experience.

Banska Bystrica is a lovely place with mounds of history, I also recommend the "cult club" for cracking local beers and fresh pizza!

Stayed here on 19/7/10. Weather was 28C and hot. Has on street parking using a hotel parking pass. No lift and we were on 1st floor. No staff to help with bags. Room was nice but looked dated like the hotel. Room was small, clean, tidy, no strange smells. Had a shower but no bath. No aircon so we had to open windows for air. Has a minbar. Flat TV with bbc news only. Breakfast was very poor for choice, self serve. No issues and a fair choice for 1 night. 1 min walk to city centre.

hotel reservation system not working properly, and if you want to reserve room via phone they tell you that you have to do it online or they all booked anyways is not. Or if you get confirmation from booking and if you will not come till 8 pm they will not give you room. Bad experience several times not recommending this hotel.

I have no idea how this hotel ended up no. 1 hotel in Banska Bystrica on Trip Advisor. Although staff are very friendly and keen to help, the place smells (not the rooms but all the common areas) and needs serious renovations. There is also no elevator which was not very convenient for my 72 year old mother who had to climb to the fourth floor. Breakfast was terrible and parking a challenge but the location is excellent, just off the main square.

We stayed there 1 night in late September (stop-over en-route from Budapest to Krakow). Location is one block from the beautiful town square in this very quaint town (Be sure to visit square with great restaurants). Staff very very friendly. They have no elevator, and staff insisted on carrying my luggage one flight up. Room and bath good size and very clean.
Great breakfast with a large spread, and they will customize your omelet. Wifi only in café area, and we were lucky as our room 114 is above it and had good signal. For laptops, they provide a free network cable. Overall, good experience.

This "hotel" was the worst I have ever stayed in! In a nutshell the staff are awful, rude, unhelpful. Rooms were dirty, our sheets had blood on them and we're not changed once during our 3 night stay. Breakfast was terrible. Once the food is gone it is not replenished so if you don't get to breakfast before 7am forget about it. I simply can't understand how this hotel acquired a 4 star rating!

This was a good hotel for Bankska - we stayed in a suite, which had a concrete balcony overlooking the road that led to the main square (which is well worth a visit - one of the nicest we saw in Slovakia). There are 4 free public car parking spaces in front of the hotel - otherwise you will have to pay on-street parking charges. The room was very spacious, but with an odd arrangement for the bathroom (fairly typical of older hotels in Slovakia) with a shower head attached to the bath taps, no shower curtain, and the shower holder on the wall half way up (OK if you are vertically challenged, but not much good for everyone else). Otherwise the room was very good, with leather armchairs, a separate wardrobe area, and comfortable beds. (Note: There is no lift, so you have to carry your luggage up the stairs - or ask for help). The receptionist spoke very good english. Overall I would class it as a very good 3* Hotel.

Wonderful hotel with good service, nice rooms.
I would like to go back to this wonderful city and the hotel. The staff was also very nice and helpful. We were celebrating a wedding and all was perfect.

We came in from Budapest, so came in from the south west and we were hoping for a sleepy medium sized city after 4 days in budapest. We saw the modern stores and highways and with the one way streets had some issues getting to the hotel. Looked good but as stated no elevator and we were on the third floor. We were wondering what we were getting into but the room was excellent, beds just wonderful big windows with a steady breeze that made sleeping just excellent. Breakfast is OK not fanstatic but what the hell one block from the town square, excellent exploring, the little sideway cafes open excellent food excellent beers and wine. Excellent dinner at Angles, you have to go. Nothing to do WHAT we wandered around and explored, and then drove 15 minutes to Donavaly and when hiking up a mountain! Excellent, the mountains, the valleys, what a nice place.
