I have been guest with my wife of this nice hotel. Everything was according to our expectations. Our room was very clean and service was effective. It's definitely worthwhile coming back on the next occasion.
Very basic rooms that are small but clean. There is no elevator or staff to carry luggage. Despite proximity to local transit, the rooms are quiet. Easy walk to fabulous local restaurants. The walls are adorned with religious memorabilia.
Nice building shame there is no A/C in the room as it was a hotbox, fairly basic amenities, with a bath and hand shower without shower curtains. Needed to have the window open but traffic was very noisy so an uncomfortable night. I noticed there was A/C units mounted on the internal roof line so someone was enjoying A/C.
We visited this hotel as part of a cycling tour. The location is excellent, right in the town centre and near the river. This is an incredible old building but it isn’t ideally suited to be a modern hotel. We had a family room which was reasonably big and comfortable but with one tiny sloped window, it felt dark and claustrophobic. In addition, lugging our cases up to the top floor was a pain as there is no lift. Aside from that, the staff were quite friendly (reception ok, breakfast good) and we had a nice enough stay
Although Hotel Klastrom does not have some of the facilities of a modern hotel, it is a comfortable place to stay. Having been a Carmalite Monastery, it retains many interesting features. The rooms were converted forty or fifty years ago and the one we stayed in lacked a decent shower over a very worn bath, with no shower curtain to stop water getting on the floor. The only facility for storage in the bathroom was a single glass shelf over the sink. However, the room was sparklingly clean and the bed was comfortable. The heavy double thickness oak doors were certainly a feature, but the room was compact. Take a look in the old library, beautiful marquetry and wooden fretwork adorn the walls. There are photos of a Papal visit in the corridors too! There is no restaurant, however a very adequate breakfast is served in the old refectory. A pleasant stay.…
ovely staff, very friendly and helpful with restaurant recommendations, sharing info on the hotel's history and even allowing us to see the restored library. beautiful rooms and wonderful location. the shower in our room was a bit of a challenge, high pressure without a curtain meant wet everything but the bath was lovely
Nice historic building very close to the downtown and the pedestrian area. The building was renewed a few years ago and is pretty nice. You can feel the history itself. The rooms are not the biggest but clean and nice. The hotel"s yard is beautiful and closed. Your bicycle can be stored here. The breakfast is more or less ok. Parking is the only bottleneck of the hotel.
This hotel is my recommendation for a long weekend stay in Györ, especially if you are visiting for a place in the nearby city center. The biggest advantage is the short walking distance to everything in the city center (and to the railway station, 10min). The room was very-very spacious and clean. The service is first class. We enjoyed the wine wine festival at the end of August – just great!
Minus is parking spot in front of hotel. Only city parkings available. Rooms big and nice. Old design but it fits to the hotel design. Tasty breakfast. From the hotel is quite close to city center (walking distance). Quite neighborhood.
Stay for 4 nights bed and breakfast, air con room on second floor. The major minus is the stairs (no lift) and they cannot alter the building as it is protected being an ex monastery although part of the building is still occupied by monks. There are 3 flights to the second floor approx 50 steps so not suitable for disabled people or people with walking/climbing issues. We found the Hotel was very clean in all areas. ROOM Compact, the main drawback was the small window (unable to be changed) and it felt a bit claustraphobic but after a couple of days you got used to it. Double wardrobe had only 4 miss matched coat hangers but enough shelves, see pics. Beds were medium firm but comfortable and linen was good quality, pillows seemed feather filled. Flat screen TV on wall was very small and 1 English spoken channel CNN news and boring to us. Fridge good size. Safety deposit box on reception, quite small. Bathroom adequate and clean, plenty of hot water, towels a decent size. Not much storage for toileteries (1 glass shelf over sink). They should have a bracket to hang the hand towel by the soap dispenser and the shower, a decent size, should have a shelf in the corner for your gel and other small bits. The shower head was not high enough (maybe unavoidable) but ok. Air con was fine and ample. BREAKFAST Limited choice of cereals, scrambled egg (nicely done) 3 mornings and extra boiled eggs final day?, garlic sausage, few cold meats/yogurts no salad until last morning we had chopped tomatoes ? Limited bread choice. A staff of 2 girls which was adequate. All in all a basic breakfast. HOTEL Was very clean in all areas, WIFI was good in our room. The bar area was very small right by the entrance not suitable for relaxation. Parking was outside at the hotel, excellent price and no problem. Reception staff a pleasant and helpful smiling young man, night time older man and other female day time (not the owner) bit miserable. Room service (cleaners) were very polite with no issues. Hotel situation was very good, just at the end of the main square a short walk to the centre. Please note that the courtyard area is being re-developed so no facilities but expect it will be lovely when finished in about 2 weeks according to management. Overall a pleasant stay, but for us would not go back to this property as we are, without being picky, used to a better room, lifts, and a more varied breakfast.…
