Really disappointing. The hotel is not nice at all. In The gym is broken gear. Holes in the wall. The receptionist is a sample how service person should never behave!!! Rude, busy on her phone. Very unprofessional und unmotivated. Poor English and no German. For check-in she gave me a form in Hungarian only and wanted me to sign something I could - obviously, as non-Hungarian- not understand. As I understood, they have it in English too, but she printed it out in HU and didn’t want to print it again. The restaurant was closed at 8pm. Because it is Sunday, as we were told. Maybe the receptionist could offer drinks at least, if the managers would be interested in service …? The elevator is reachable only from the restaurant, otherwise you have to use the stairs. Lucky us, we are young and healthy. I do not recommend this hotel, choose something else.…
We have stayed for 3 nights in the hotel. When we arrived we were informed that the restaurant is open till 10 PM but when we went to eat at 7.30 PM, we were told that since we have half board included in our reservation, we could only eat till 8 PM. Since there were only a few guests in the hotel, we could choose from a limited menu, although it was quite good, especially the dessert. Next day there was a private event, so before 8MP we had to leave the restaurant. The last night we had to choose from the limited menu again, so I chose the same dessert, as first night, since I really liked it. Then the waitress brought me something totally different, a lot worse. When I asked her about it,she told me that the chef is not working and the person who is replacing him, cannot prepare the same. I was shocked. Why do they put it on the menu at all in this case? Also, when promoting the dinner, why not mentioning the conditions such as opening hours or menu/buffet? Apart from this, when we went to have breakfast the tablecloth was always dirty, cutlery was missing, and the personal didn't pay attention to have everything or at least half of the things always refilled (like eggs, sausages, salad, etc.) Well, with the restaurant we were not satisified at all. About the spa, we had the feeling that since we are not in high season they didn't turn on all the devices, services. Even the lights were constantly switched off by the pool. To say something positive as well, I have to mention that the staff was very helpful when we asked for help or for any information, the room was clean. The gym was well equipped and quite empty. Also the hotel is like 5 minutes away from the train station, but you cannot hear the noise of the trains and the city center is about 10 minutes walk.…
I stayed here with my 6 year old daughter and the check in went smoothly, we got into our room and the air con was off but there was quite an overpowering smell of air fresher. I put the air con on and we went out, upon coming back to the room we were met with the stench of damp mixed with something very unpleasant. The sheets felt damp as well. I went downstairs and told them the air con wasn’t working properly. They apologised profusely and said they had no more rooms available but promised to move me the following day. I accepted this and had to have no air con for the first night, then went to the reception in the morning to check I was moving today and they assured me they were getting a room ready and I could move when I got back. I got back in the afternoon and they advised me they had fixed the air con so I didn’t need to move. I went upstairs and their idea of fixing it was to stick another air freshener in the air con unit itself, I couldn’t quite believe it. The sheets were all damp again. I went back to reception and told them it wasn’t fixed and now stunk even worse of air freshener with the disgusting stench underneath it. The receptionist spoke to her manager who advised me there were no rooms available so they couldn’t do anything. I asked the receptionist to follow me to my room and told her I couldn’t use the air con so therefor the room did not have what I was paying for and I was leaving the hotel the next day and expected a refund for the 2 nights stay. Suddenly there was a room available to move me. Firstly they didn’t fix the problem and then they lied. The only reason I am giving a 3 star review is the spa is exceptional. The spa really was 20 times better than I expected. Also because once I was moved I encountered no more issues - my new room had no air freshener so they knew the air con in that room was faulty yet they still put guests in it. Breakfast was ok, the rooms were a little tired but the bathrooms were new, the rooms were very quiet and the staff were mostly very accommodating. I received no discount for all of the drama and inconvenience and for having had to sleep with no air con when it was extremely hot outside. All in all just avoid room 220 and you’ll have a lovely stay.…
I arrived a bit early after a wet day in the bike. The receptionist said my room would be 30 minutes. I unloaded the bags from the bike and took my wet weather gear off intending to have lunch. She then told me I would be in a sister hotel and showed me details on her screen. When she gave me directions it was to a 3rd hotel. I arrived there to be told my room was not ready, even though a couple who arrived later were given a room straightaway. When my room was ready it was in the annex over the road with no wifi and only a tiny window. Then workmen started drilling in the room next door at 7:30. I was treated like a second class citizen. This hotel was a huge disappointment. We arrived late and were tired after a long journey. The lady in the reception should rethink her career as she had no idea what service is. The first thing she said was that we had to pay extra for our eight year old - most hotels welcomes children under 12 years if they sleep in existing beds. We said of course ok with a smile. She didnt smile once. The next thing she said was that we had to pay extra for access to the swimming pool. She asked if we wanted to pay for two days or one. Thank God I asked when it closed, as it closed half an hour later than we arrived! Why in the world didnt she say that first? When I asked to have two room keys, she actually pointed out that would be extra! What kind of hotel charges you for the second key? We have travelled the world and never been charged for a second key. Do they presume we are glued together? Horrible reception! The rooms are spacious, but with wall-to-wall carpets. In desperate need of an upgrade. The curtains were hidious. The only good thing was the bathroom that was actually renovated. The toiletries existed of two TINY shower soaps, perhaps 2 grams each (enough to clean one arm). No shampoo, no conditioner. The Internet access actually worked. The pool area was nice and clean. The hotel is situated next to what looks like a former prison. Such a dodgy neighbourhood. Walk through the park when walking to the centre. I would never recommend this hotel and I will never stay here again. As we are used to hotel staff being professional and not feeling ripped off after a hotel stay, this was utterly a disappointment. Mind you, we have stayed in this city many times before, so our grounds for comparison is real. Stay away! …
I stayed one night on my way to Bratislava. The hotel is very nice and charming and also has a good location. They have also a lot of sport activities. The room was very nice with comfortable bed and breakfast was superb.
My husband and I stayed here just for one night, driven by a random idea of visiting Győr. We booked the hotel room super last minute, but it all worked out fantastic. Our room was prepared properly with robes for the wellness area. The spa was great - not too big, but not crowded at all, clean and equipped with everything you need for a relaxing time - hot tub, steam room, sauna, infra sauna, and a pool big enough for a swim. The staff was very friendly and polite, the food was great. However, the room is not the same level as in a 4-star hotel in Western Europe (e.g. a tile was missing from the bathroom, bed was a bit small), but very was very clean and was totally worth the price. The city itself is very nice, so I'd totally recommend this place if you'd like to have an affordable, yet comfy city break.…
We booked a short wellness weekend at this small hotel. The location is great, the lobby and the restaurant looks fantastic. The rooms could use some renovation. It was nice and have good ideas in decoration but it seems that it is not maintained very well nowadays. We slept well, the breakfast is nice. Regarding wellness, there was a lot of things which were out of order. The pools are good to have some rest, but this is not a wellness hotel. The poorest thing in the hotel is the communication. We didn't know how to turn on the sauna and as there is no staff in the wellness level we needed to climb up to reception to ask about it. The same thing with the drinks. No information, no staff so you have to go up to reception for everything. In wet bathing clothes. There is no bar in the hotel, you can drink only from your minibar. And the receptionist was not kind and didn't inform us properly. …
The atmosphere in the restaurant was nice, good decor generally. However --- the Wifi was very poor. There were exposed fire alarms in the toilet and in the living area with the wires visible which was unprofessional. The toilets had a weak extraction system and there was an unusually unpleasant and strong chlorine smell in the jacuzzi and pool that was very intense in the morning. Staff spoke very poor English, and due to the fact that they tried to eradicate this chlorine smell, there was an unpleasant draft every morning. There was also a very poor selection available at breakfast, which you would not expect from . In addition, the property was situated facing the main road. At the back of the property was a rail station. To the right is a state prison, and to the left is a beautiful park crowded with prostitutes and pimps, in the evening and night time. You could constantly hear fighting and screaming which was very unpleasant. The rooms were much smaller than they appeared on the website, and even 'family' rooms were not big enough for an actual family.…
Myself my partner and daughter from Ireland were doing a tour of Europe for two weeks at the start of August (needless to say we had a lot of luggage) and our first stay was the golden ball club for 5 nights, we checked out after four nights. Arrived to the hotel late on the first night and tired. Lots of heavy luggage and no lift available. If u have no lift available this should be stated on ur web page! The staff were not so friendly apart from the guy in the bar. The staff again out smoking on the front steps. Reception girls made me uncomfortable to ask for anything. Wasn't happy with that at all. The breakfast was not great at all!! Never anything really available and I had to ask the girls waiting breakfast could I please have more bread / more sausages / a bowl for my daughter cereal. Every time I asked for these items which should have been displayed... I felt like I was annoying the waitress and the bread never came for toast! So I just left it. After 3 mornings of a asking for bread I had enough. The hotel is coming on very nice obviously it had undergone some refurbishment and it is clean and nice and a brilliant swimming pool area down stairs. But as I have checked in to two further hotels on my travels and the staff have been friendly welcoming and no breakfast problems I felt like I had to write this review. Staff let this hotel down with a non friendly / helpful attitude. Also breakfast needs massive attention. …
