The room was small, dark, without a normal window. It was noisy, we couldn’ t sleep because of some random guy screaming in the night. It was smelly, not enough clean, threre were brown spots on the bed. I wouldn’t recommand anyone. Horrible experience
Fanni Budapest Guesthouse is located in between Keleti (Main Train Station) and the underground Metro (M2). In short, it is very accessible. It's very near ALDI, a grocery shop which accepts credit card payment. A lot of restaurants are found along Racokci Street. The property is quiet and it felt like you're away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The only negative side is they don't allow early check in. Unlike any other hostels or guesthouses in Europe, for as long as your private room is ready, they let you in.
While we booked Fanni's, we ended up staying at Omega (owned and operated by the same company). However, we weren't told this at any stage during the booking process or before arrival. Our airport transfer organised by the hotel was a disaster. We were looking for a Fanni's sign. The transfer guy was holding an Omega sign, but he also failed to put our name on it. After 90mins of trying to find him, we gave up and took a taxi from outside the departure lounge. This is actually very easy and the taxi price is set before the journey, so no chance of getting ripped off (which is why we didnt choose this option initially). Omega were very apologetic and have now explained the need for last names on the transfer cards to the company they use. Following this we found ourselves in a room facing the busiest road in Budapest. The noise was horrendous and lasted all night. No chance of leaving a window open and aircon costs extra to use. On request, Omega staff kindly moved us to a room facing the courtyard (request one of these rooms if you stay here or take earplugs!). Unfortunately, the bed in this room was broken and creaked and moaned everytime we moved. Feeling like we had already been enough hassle, and not wanting to bother them again, we put up with it for the next 2 nights. The positive things - the staff are friendly, the rooms are perfect for what we wanted and they are clean and nicely presented. The building used to house veteran soldiers so good character. The entrance is a black door next to a kebab shop and looks dodgy but it's fine once you get up the stairs. Location is excellent with loads of eateries just outside the door, including a supermarket over the road. The HopOn HopOff bus also stops at the New York Tea Rooms next door which is really handy. 20min walk to the main sights. Breakfast was okay. Near Keleti Station but be aware the airport train comes in to the other station in Budapest. Trains to Vienna also leave the other station. It's budget accommodation and the price is good for what you get. Things just didn't work out well for us on this occasion.…
The purpose of my weekend in Budapest was to live it up and party with my friends, and for that reason I couldn't have chosen worse accommodation. We were shouted at for talking after 10pm and then a note was left on the outside of our door saying we were on our final warning and should this happen again we would need to leave. The only thing that rescued this hotel was that it is in a pretty good location and a lot of cool bars and attractions are within walking distance! But these guys don't know how to have a good time!!!
Stayed for two separate nights at Fanni Guesthouse in central Budapest. Four lads arriving late and leaving early so just after a room really, nothing lavish. Fanni guesthouse lady at reception very helpful with checking in etc. Bedding well worn bad were the quill cover and pillow. No soap in bathroom either. Taxi arranged via guesthouse for morning run to the airport turned out to be a man in his own little car, which I doubt had any taxi insurance what so ever, hence why it was cheap. Doubt I'd stay again.
The guesthouse location is very good, not too far from the city center, the price is very correct for what they offer, little but nice room, they clean the room every day if you want (no additional cost), free towels, elevator.
The rooms are ridden with mold. See pictures. This was our second room after complaining about the first. The shower head came off the hose when picked up. The sink leaked in the bathroom. We left the first room because of blood stains on the mattress and mold. We ended up leaving without staying even one night. Did get a full refund though. One plus - the receptionist was very friendly and helpful.
..... based on price/ value. For €21 a night that's a fair score. Pro: Near train station/ 20 min walk OldTown. Quiet location. Clean. Wi-Fi Always hot water. Staff were pleasant. Con: Had to hold shower head. Poor quality towels/ bed clothes. Quite basic. The accom is fine for a place to sleep/ shower. Sure, that's all you need it for on a break away!? I was solo and was good value at €42 for 2 nights. I spent that on ONE night in a 6 bed dorm in Zurich the same week. You can walk into OldTown Budapest easy enough. If you want fancy accom, this aint for you. That said it's clean and pragmatic.
Best stay in Budapest, very near to central and main train station, you get all what you need for the best price. kitchen is shared. not so much facilities but its perfect to spend some nights in Budapest.
Don't expect too much from the property. It does what expected for the money requested. Nice and helpful staff. The rooms are small but comfortable. The internet may be down for a long time. Not that many facilities. But if you're looking just for a place to spend some nights - it may be a good choice.
