I have stayed at Hotel Kristal on four separate occasions, and usually for around a week each time. If you're looking for a quiet place to spend the night while you explore lively, bustling Budapest, this hotel, located on the Buda side steps away from the 112 bus that will take you right into the heart of the city in...

I stayed here for 4 nights whilst attending a conference held at the Novotel in April 2016. My room was basic, but clean and had a nice view. The staff were super friendly and gave me lots of tips and advice for where to visit in Budapest. The breakfast was a little disappointing - the coffee really didn't taste very...

Villa Hotel Kristal is conveniently located a few steps from BAH csomopont and Budapest Congress Center (Novotel), then if you're low on pretentions or a budget-conscious conference attendee, i strongly recommend to check their fares out. Frequent buses connect the neighbourhood with city centre, but i always prefer to walk. 30 minutes are enough to arrive in Vàci utca on...

We stayed here for a night as we passed through Budapest during our road trip and found it serviceable. A few things are worth mentioning: +: it's pretty cheap and the man at the front desk was very nice and amiable -: our room had a strange odor and the bathroom was kinda small; breakfast is pretty limited (nothing warm,...

We spent 3 nights at this hotel in AUgust 2015. The hotel is not centrally located, you have to walk about 30 - 40 min or take a bus to get closer to the center of town. Nevertheless, the rooms were big, the staff wonderful, the breakfast very good. This is by no means a high end/luxurious hotel but well...

My experience at the hotel was surprisingly positive. My bedroom was bigger and more furnished than I expected, the toilet was very good, breakfast simple but satisfatory. Unfortunately, there is no lift. The hotel is close to 2 bus and tramway stations, but the street is in a small hill and it is not very easy to climb with a...

Staying in Gellert Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Gellert Hill
If you want to treat your camera to some amazing scenery, Gellért Hill is a must on your itinerary. A funicular journey from the Chain Bridge along the hillsides provides a fast connection between Buda and Pest, hoisting visitors to panoramic vistas. Once on top of the hill, you’ll find the Citadel dominate the landscape with its imposing 19th century construction, a site that’s hard to keep your eyes on without being distracted by the phenomenal view over the Danube and the eight bridges crossing. Once on Gellért Hill however, one mustn’t miss the famous Gellért Baths. Budapest is renown for its thermal waters and its baths, and the Gellért Baths are housed in an impressive art nouveau structure. Its interior design, with its many mosaics, recalls the preceding relationships the city has had with healing springs and saunas, traditionally used within this neighborhood since the Ottoman Empire.
