Positioned conveniently on a main road with easy access by tram, underground or bus to all areas of Budapest, this hotel is superb! 5* luxury for us included executive suite and executive access to the spa with saunas, jacuzzis, swimming pool and small gym. It was open most days over the Christmas period, great! The executive lounge opened for breakfast,...

Didn't think it could live up to expectations, however it did. Came here as a celebration for a 30th wedding anniversary and a birthday and we were not disappointed. We upgraded to executive rooms and this has to be thoroughly recommended. Hotel within walking distance of all attractions and restaurants. Pest across the Danube is easily within walking distance. Took my husband here for his birthday. I had booked an executive room which allows check-in/out in the executive lounge whilst enjoying a glass of champagne. You can also enjoy the lounge with food and drinks until 10pm. Our room overlooked the boulevard and we were able to open the French doors and stand on the balcony to enjoy the...

A beautiful hotel with the best service. We stayed with our family (2 adults + 2 children ages 3 and 1) and would return anytime. The location is good as you can walk around almost anywhere. We had reserved a executive 34m2 room but at check-in they gave us a bigger room with two extra rooms for the children. The...

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
First opened in 1896 as the Grand Hotel Royal; a hub for the elite of nineteenth century society, and painstakingly restored to its original glory some hundred years later, the Corinthia Budapest – located in the heart of the city - brings together classic hotel opulence with the finest five-star luxury of modern times. While the gracious frontage, marble floors, sweeping staircase and breathtaking, six-story Atrium preserved from the original building offer glorious hints of a bygone age, the levels of comfort and convenience are all reassuringly up to date.A particular feature is the hotel’s original Royal Spa centre, with 15-metre pool, now extensively refurbished by the current owners to reflect the very best in 21st-century spa luxury while retaining the grandeur of the past. Without doubt the finest hotel in Budapest. Built in classic French Renaissance style, the Grand Royal became a beacon of luxury in the days of Emperor Franz Joseph 1. Designed as a centrepiece of Hungary’s celebrations to mark its first thousand years, the hotel’s grand-style architecture and unrivaled guest facilities were seen as state-of the art for the times. Much of the building was destroyed in the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and despite re-opening in more modest form in the 1960’s, the Grand Royal remained a shadow of its former self until the 1990’s; when new owners Corinthia Hotels gave the green light for an extensive restoration project that would retain the best of the old, while sensitively adding the new. Once restored to its original splendour, the newly named Corinthia Hotel Budapest re-opened its doors, as a five-star luxury property, in 2003. ... more   less
