We had a lovely large room here with balcony. It is a great location, close to all the action but great to return to the tranquility of this leisure island. The attached, through a tunnel, spa is really great and we would really recommend this well priced and historic hotel.

We were three nights there, me and my granddaughter. The hotel was very beautiful and the staff very kind and helpful. Free visit in the Spa was nice. The breakfast in the hotel was excellent, very much to eat and good coffee. We liked our room (economy) very much. It was clean and enough spacious for two. The location of...

The Gellert was thoroughly enjoyable - particularly the baths. The location couldn't be better on both tram lines and right at the metro. The breakfast buffet is also rich and the dining room superb. I would only wish the coffee were a bit better.

I really enjoyed my stay, the baths and spa next door are amazing and very relaxing. The staff are brilliant and very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is stunning with great architecture. I stayed in a single room and it def needed some updating and shower kept getting clogged. Other than that the bed was comfy so I was...

The Hotel was superb, so were the staff and the one restaurant we tried. Our room was very large and comfortable, with a superb bed, and most of it (and the hotel that we saw) was well renovated. However, although clean and with excellent quality fittings, the bathroom was not renovated (old tiling etc.) Likewise the beautiful balcony overlooking the...

Traveled with my wife and adult daughter. In general a good place to stay. If you want a delux hotel then this is not your place, but if you want old world charm this is the place to go! A hotel of pre WWI charm. Stayed in a 3 room suite. Friendly and helpful staff. Good location. Fast room service....

Staying in Gellert Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Gellert Hill
If you want to treat your camera to some amazing scenery, Gellért Hill is a must on your itinerary. A funicular journey from the Chain Bridge along the hillsides provides a fast connection between Buda and Pest, hoisting visitors to panoramic vistas. Once on top of the hill, you’ll find the Citadel dominate the landscape with its imposing 19th century construction, a site that’s hard to keep your eyes on without being distracted by the phenomenal view over the Danube and the eight bridges crossing. Once on Gellért Hill however, one mustn’t miss the famous Gellért Baths. Budapest is renown for its thermal waters and its baths, and the Gellért Baths are housed in an impressive art nouveau structure. Its interior design, with its many mosaics, recalls the preceding relationships the city has had with healing springs and saunas, traditionally used within this neighborhood since the Ottoman Empire.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Art Nouveau style Danubius Hotel Gellert first opened its doors in 1918, and has long been an iconic Budapest landmark that has even featured in Hollywood films. Its stately building, at the foot of the Gellert hill, also houses the world-famous Gellert Baths, which include an outdoor pool with the original wave-generating device installed in 1927. Over the years, some famous names have stayed at the Gellert – including American presidents and European royalty – and the hotel retains the elegant atmosphere of a bygone age. Guests can enjoy superb cuisine at the Panorama Restaurant or Gellert Brasserie, and take advantage of wellness treatments and medical programmes at the adjacent Gellert Baths. Furthermore, the hotel is the perfect base for exploring, located next to one of Budapest’s most beautiful bridges and a short walk from Pest’s Great Market Hall and shopping streets. ... more   less

Noi siamo arrivati in aereo, è al centro di Budapest, proprio sulla riva del fiume. Abbiamo trovato un portiere che masticava qualche parola, ma parlavamo in inglese.

Buongiorno! Buona vacanza
