We had a Danube facing room on the 8th floor which looked over to the Castle. We had a great view up and down the river. The location of the hotel is perfect. Tram 2 stops outside and you are under 5 minutes from the nearest underground station. The room was fine for the length of our stay (6 nights)....

Having never stayed in an Intercontinental hotel before, this was a revelation. 5* attention all round. We had a fantastic room on the seventh floor overlooking the Danube..... what a view! Unusually for a European hotel, tea and coffee making facilities were available in the room which was much used. Food and bars were well managed and high class. The...

This upscale hotel is located right on the river, and the views of the Chain Bridge, Buda Castle and Fisherman's Bastion lit up at night are fabulous. The service at the hotel was good, and people at the front desk spoke a variety of languages. I had reserved a non-smoking room, but when I checked in to my room, it...

We stayed at the Intercontinental Budapest for our New Years Holidays and from Check in until Check out, everything was perfect. Since by booking the Deluxe Double Room for me, my wife and my parents, we have booked the highest level room and the room upgrade I usually get as Ambassador was not possible any more, so they have given...

We stayed here with friends whilst visiting the Christmas markets in Budapest over a long weekend. When travelling in Europe, I usually seek out older hotels with character and eschew modern hotel chains such as the Intercontinental. Of course I know that Intercontinental hotels are usually excellent with very high standards, but once in the rooms you could be anywhere...

So, the hotel is right on the Danube, near the chain bridge, and is only 2 or 3 minutes from the central square, a tram goes by outside (not sure where the stop is though), and the metro at Deak Ferenc Ter is 5 minutes on foot. So the hotel is pretty well placed for business or pleasure I stayed...

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
