We stayed at this hotel from 3 to 7 October. We were given a room at the back (because it was quiet) on the top floor that had a balcony which proved to be a great spot to dry clothes overnight. The balcony looked on to the adjoining church whose bells stopped at 9 pm and didn't start until 7.am....

we chose this hotel having looked at all the reviews of others as we thought it would be quiet - and it was. In a good position - just over a bridge in the older Buda part and easy walking to the rest. rooms were fine, clean. I think they vary in size. Good breakfast with a choice of eggs...

This hotel is tucked away on the Buda side of the Danube. It is extremely good value. The rooms and bathrooms are very clean and the staff are courteous and helpful. There is continental breakfast on offer but they will cook eggs for guests if requested -boiled, scrambled, fried. Although there are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, guests...

I stayed in the Hotel Orion for three nights. Unfortunately my friend who was accompanying me could not go so I was on my own. The hotel was clean and quiet and the staff were very helpful. The breakfast was perfectly adequate and the location was good. It is on the Buda side of the river between the castle and...

The Hotel is small and located on the Buda side of the river near the Castle complex. We spent most of our time on the Pest side but the hotel is near the Elizabeth Bridge which gives easy access to Pest. The staff is extremely nice and helpful and our room was very pleasant and comfortable. The breakfast room is...

My family and I stayed there in 2 rooms for 3 nights in July 2006. The furniture in the rooms was relatively new but 1980's from a styling viewpoint. The bathrooms were tiny. The air-conditioning worked fine, as the temperatures hit 36C each day The breakfasts were good. Self service. Run by just one man. The staff were helpful but...

Great little hotel, in a good location on the Buda side bank of the Danube and in the quiet area of the Vizivaros. Perfect for the castle district (especially the funiculaire, 5 mins walk) and convenient for the Belvaros (15 mins) via the Chain Bridge. Public transport links were reasonable with the numbers 18 and 118 going via Buda to...

Just spent 5 days in Budapest at the Orion Hotel. Great little hotel on the Buda side near Elizabeth Bridge ---- staff are very friendly and helpful. Recommended a nice little restaurant just 50 yards from the hotel called Tabani Terasz. Lovely ambience., reasonablely priced and food beautifully presented. I would recommend both the hotel and the restaurant.

First, I highly recommend visiting Budapest. It is easy to get around, you can visit all the popular sites on foot if you don't mind walking. Otherwise, the Metro, Tram, etc make it very easy to get around. You can buy 1 or 3 day tickets for unlimited travel. People are friendly and most speak some english. The food is...

My partner and I have just returned from a 3 night easter break at the Orion (pronounced "Oryon" in Hungarian, as I later found out). We booked this hotel on the basis of the other reviews on Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed. We recommend taking the airport mini-bus service which drops you off at the hotel and costs...

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
