We stayed at the Hotel Budapest at the foot of the Buda Hills in January 2009. The hotel itself looks a bit dated and could do with a lick of paint, but this is not the main reason as to why I would not recommend to stay there. 1. It is not near the centre - 1st day got a...

Bad experience : we stayed for two nights 29/30 .12.2008 and 3/4 01.2009. First room was very, very cold, we have noticed at the reception but no improuvment. Not enough elevators (number and capacity) we have to wait more than 15 minutes to use the elevator. For the second night despite the fact that we have paid a triple room...

Stayed here for three nights on a recent visit to budapest. Was a bit apprehensive after reading previous reviews but there was no need. We had no prolems with the lifts and when we arrived there was alot of people checking in but this did not slow down the process of checking on or getting to our bedroom. The hotel...

Just spent 3 days in this hotel. It is OK. The main plus point is that you get a room with a magnificent view - this is the main selling factor of the hotel - it is very clean and the bar is fine, but there are a number of niggles that will stop me returning. The hotel has only...

Hotel Budapest was an excellent budget hotel for anybody wanting to see the sights of Budapest. It is on the Buda side and a little bit away from the main sights, but the tram stops right outside and it is only a matter of minutes until you are at the river and can choose your destination. The room was very...

I agree with many of the posts below. The hotel is passable. Nothing great. Not horrible. The elevator situation is truly a problem, however. We had a room on the 13th floor and waited at least 15 minutes before an elevator came one morning. For this reason alone, I wouldn't recommend the hotel until they install more elevators. If you...

This is a tired and dated hotel. It is in a strange location, but it does have a tram stop over the road, which is extremely handy - although on the negative side this does make it quite noisy. The air conditioning is non existent and the walls are paper thin. Don't expect any luxuries - not even any tea...

This hotel has a big elevator problem because there are 289 rooms and only 2 elevators. My wife and I were in a small tour group that recently stayed in this hotel. We were supposed to leave the hotel at 8:30 am. So we left our room at 8:00 am., thinking this was enough time. We were completely wrong. The...

I stayed here for a week while at a nearby conference. I doubt I'll do so again. The hotel is very popular with tour groups, which means if you're unfortunate enough to have a similar schedule to them, expect the breakfast buffet to be packed to the rafters with retired Germans, Brits, Spaniards, etc. The hotel itself does afford excellent...
