Truly, when we booked this hotel, we thought the name "Carlton" would involve some extra quality above the average. But it wasn't. Carlton Hotel Budapest has 4 stars but it deserves 2 and a half, no more. Briefly: rooms are a bit small. But it's clean. The worst part is the bed as every room has 2 small beds put...

The best thing about this hotel is the location, being very close to the chain bridge and within walking distance of all the main attractions on both sides of the fantastically stunning Danube. The rooms are small (but no smaller than most city hotels), clean and serviced daily. The toiletries were poor really especially the shampoo that looked as if it...

This hotel is in the perfect location for exploring the Castle area of Budapest. The rooms are small but comfortable, clean and suitable for a few nights rest from exploring Budapest. The bathroom is a good size, good shower over the bath and a good stock of soap, shower gel , hair dryer, etc. The beds were a little hard...

The Carlton is not a luxury hotel, but is clean, comfortable and well placed. The best was definitely the staff, they were really helpful and made tour and restaurant bookings for us, as well as sorting out airport transfers at a good price. Also we had a view of the parliament and Danube from our bedroom window which was lovely!...

The only 2 adventages of this hotel are: 1. the very good location. 2. a very good colorful breakfast. The disadventages are much more: when we first entered the room- a warm wellcome of no light at the hole, because of a not working lamp. When we opened the windows- a warm wellcome of buildings all around and a construction...

We stayed at the Carlton Hotel Budapest 22nd to 25th November 2011. We were very happy with the hotel. On our arrival we were greeted by very friendly staff, courteous and helpful. Our room was spotlessly clean, not huge but warm in the cold November weather, adequate, comfortable bed with spotless fresh crisp bedding. The towels were were good quality...

An excellent hotel. Very good location, base of Castle Hill on the Buda side, 15 minutes walk across the magnificent Chain Bridge to Deak Ter, the centre of the Pest side. Many restaurants locally. Very friendly and helpful staff throughout. Rooms on the smaller size (like most of Europe!), very comfortable beds, coffee and tea making facilities in the room....

We just stayed at the Carlton Hotel for 2 nights. The location is good by the chain bridge but that is it. Our whole floor smelled like smoke, it was disgusting. Now I guess if you are smoker you would not notice this, but the hallways reeked and the smoke was seeping into our room. There is a haze in...

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
