Hotel ok if I was to return to Budapest I would not stay here again and over the Pest side - was to far at night to walk back from the main city. No bar at hotel. Booked superior room with balcony what waste money you are actually looking directly onto a block of flats such lovely outside furniture but...

Stayed in the Carlton Hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is located on the Buda side which is the quieter side of Budapest, should you be looking for late nights and parties I suggest you look on the other side of the city. The hotel is very close to a few landmarks with easy bus routes (350 HUF or £1)...

Our room was spotlessly clean and nicely decorated with a balcony. The staff in the hotel were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was a hot buffet (eggs and sausage) with the normal continental items as well. The location was great on the Buda side of the river with a very short walk to the Chain Bridge and Funicular to the...

Stayed in the Carlton for 3 nights. Ideal place to stay on the Buda side of the Danube. Clean, comfortable and very good value. Breakfast is included with enough choice to cater for all. The hotel is accessed down a "cobbled" road which can make walking a bit unsteady, however this added to the authenticity of the location. Would definitely...

We were very pleased with the location and quality of this hotel. The hotel was clean, comfortable and extremely good value. Breakfast is continental and includes a adequate, varied fresh selection. The small addition of bacon would make this breakfast excellent !The only disappointing experience of our stay was when we got stuck in the hotel lift for an hour. We appreciate...

Clean, warm and decent location. Breakfast is continental with hot dog sausage, scrambled and boiled eggs as the warm options … go won't go hungry. The staff are helpful and organised tours and an airport transfer at 4am. This hotel isn't ideal for nightlife more the touristy day activities.

We stayed for 3 nights at the Carlton. It is a perfect base for exploring Budapest. We walked up to Buda castle from the steps opposite the hotel as we needed to walk of the large breakfast which we really enjoyed. From there we went to Fishermans bastion and Matthias church. The fenicular railway was closed for maintenance on this...

Really loved my stay at the Carlton. All of the staff were so helpful, room was perfect, and (I can't emphasize this enough) the location is perfect. Lots of baths along the tram line on the hotel side of the bridge, plus the castle up the hill. A beautiful walk across the chain bridge, which is pretty much right outside...

Good situation in a quiet area, but just in Buda side and a few minutes walk from the Chain Bridge. Great value for money, pleasant rooms. Breakfast the best I have had anywhere. Friendly and helpful staff.

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
