Very old, but decent budget hotel near the centre of Budapest (15 min walk.) Decent rooms, but very hard beds. The breakfast buffet is not so good. Service is good. Very good Belgium pub & restaurant next to the hotel (Pater Marcus.)

Nice hotel on the quieter side of Budapest close to the Chain Bridge and funicular railway to the palace and castle district. Tour bus plus tram and bus stop nearby and a 10-15 minute walk to the busier other side of the Danube. Hotel was very clean and fresh having been refurbished in 2015 (I think). Rooms were acceptable, although... More

Very happy with the good business style standard. Modern decor and well specified. Single room had all I needed and was very clean. Lovely and warm. Free water from fridge. Safe for valuables. Modern bathroom was immaculate. Don't like the toilet bowl design but other places in Budapest seem to have this design to. Not sure what benefit it is.... More

I'm not really asking for a lot of luxury when going on a city trip (most of the time I use Ibis hotels). A good location, enough hot water in the shower, good breakfast and a decent bed. However there were some things in this hotel that are totally not 4* worthy. When entering the lobby is great and so... More

Our stay at the Carlton Budapest hotel was nice, we arrived by airplane in Budapest Airport and after a 40 min trip by taxi which was about 35 euro we arrived at the hotel. The room was not very big but cozy, a small terrace overlooking the interior yard. The Breakfast was good, but there are not many tables so... More

I booked the Carlton Hotel for our 3 night minibreak stay in October. I wanted a central location plus the offer of breakfast. I wasn't disappointed on both counts. Its not a huge hotel, but its friendly, clean and extremely central to everything - a stone's throw from the Chain Bridge on Buda side of the City. It is up... More

Just across the bridge, at the foot of the elevator going uphill to some of the mai attractions of the city the location is ideal. It all looks great. Reception is efficient and able to advice well. A bit noisy with open windows. Open because we couldnt get the temperature down back to normal. Breakfast is ok, but not special.... More

We stayed at the Carlton Hotel in Budapest for a few days before our Viking River Cruise. Fabulous location. Even more fabulous breakfasts every morning. Clean rooms and the staff were very responsive to all of our questions and requests.

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.

“The rooms where smallish but adequate...Bathrooms were very nice and clean with good towels and bedding. Location to walking sites and transportation very good...I repeats, if booking online by your self try to insure you room does have some sort of view, not at the back, first floor looking into a deep dark ally.....We were out 90% of the time but when returned the drapes were nearly always closed.I guess the more reasonable on line priced rooms are reserved for this traveller. Overall,,,,,satisfied and would stay again.....”
