Viktor took good care of us for 2 nights. Our room was very comfortable, breakfast was fine, and we met some nice people. The location just below the Castle hill district was ideal for exploring that area and ideal for attending the Budapest Wine Festival. I suggest asking for an upper floor room on the back side - the view...

Really nice and cozy place along a quiet street yet just a few steps from Buda's attractions and short walk to metro station. Good breakfast also which you can enjoy at a lovely balcony. Warm recommendation!

Wonderful location in old Buda just a short walk downhill to Danube and trams, buses and metro, short walk uphill to castle area. Large comfortable rooms with great ensuite facilities. Good breakfast in comfortable dining area even with outdoor balcony. Best of all Viktor is a fantastic host - so friendly, helpful and relaxed. We could not have been made...

We stayed at the Budavar on the recommendation of friends and were not disappointed. Budavar is a great little B&B on the Buda side with a great location and it is easy to get to the Pest side. Our room was #1 on the first floor with plenty of room and a nice balcony. Viktor the host was very friendly...

We have been to Budupest a number of times over the last twelve months and have stayed in a number of hotels which were ok but nothing special. Then we came across Budavar Bed & Breakfast - what a fab place perfect for sight seeing and in such a picturesque part of town. The rooms are clean and airy. Our...

This is a very nice B&B in the quiet Buda district. It's perfect to visit Buda and you can reach Pest by walking or by metro. We stayed in a very nice big room (room 2) the first night but then we switched to a smaller room above the dining area (room 3 I think). The room was small but...

I would highly recommend Budavar if you want to be walking distance to everything downtown Budapest. Viktor, the host, is very friendly and helpful with suggestions. We stayed in #7 with a shared bathroom which I was a little hesitant but we never had any issues sharing and it always was available when we needed it.

Very, friendly, clean. Mr Victor who owns the place is most helpful and it is nice sitting on the balcony in the morning looking at the roofs of Budapest. I would certainly go bak to thos place if visiting Budapest again

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
