It was such a pleasure to be welcomed into this cozy bed and breakfast by Viktor.Hospitality takes on a new form when staying at Budavar pension. We felt at home, and as if we were with family. The room and the location exceeded our expectations and the breakfast and a view was wonderful. We look forward to being a future guest....

We stayed here almost for a week and everything was just perfect. Viktor, the innkeeper, was so friendly and helpful. It is located up on the hill, very close to Fisherman's Bastion, so it is very easy to get to the hill areas including the castle. I highly recommend this B&B to anyone visiting Budapest.

Staff were incredibly friendly, he went above and beyond. For example i mentioned in passing that we'd tried to visit parliament the day before but tickets were sold out. As we came down later he told us he'd checked online and there were definitely tickets available for that day. Great location too, literally next to the fisherman's bastion. We had...

Viktor was an outstanding host, friendly and knowledgeable. Our room was quite large and very comfortable. The location was ideal for walking and public transport. We would definitely go back to Budapest and definitely back to Budavar Bed and Breakfast.

Pros: - Big nice rooms (although the promised view was the street) - Extremely helfpul staff (Viktor was very attentive) - Great location for the Budacastle district (2 min away from the beautiful St Matias Church) Cons: - No lift - No credit cards accepted - Breakfast is not bad but could be better - No shower, just bathtub, and...

Six night stay. Room overlooked the street without the promised view of the Danube but was spacious. Bed wasn't the most comfortable and the pillows were old, flat and tired. Room was clean and tidied daily. Toiletries were not included, just a pump bottle of liquid soap. No tea/coffee facilities in the room but a kettle was available in the...

Clean and comfortable place to stay in Budapest. Great location on a quiet street, within walking distance of many attractions and metro, bus stops. Viktor proved to be a helpful, charming host.He served a generous, varied breakfast each morning. There weren't a lot of other guests when we were there so we got to sit on the wonderful dining balcony each...

Great location, clean, comfortable and good value for money. Viktor was very helpful, giving us a detailed map and personal guide to the city. The hotel was so quiet, we felt as if we had the whole place to ourselves. We were able to come and go as we pleased. Once checked out, Viktor allowed us to store our bags...

Viktor took good care of us for 2 nights. Our room was very comfortable, breakfast was fine, and we met some nice people. The location just below the Castle hill district was ideal for exploring that area and ideal for attending the Budapest Wine Festival. I suggest asking for an upper floor room on the back side - the view...

Really nice and cozy place along a quiet street yet just a few steps from Buda's attractions and short walk to metro station. Good breakfast also which you can enjoy at a lovely balcony. Warm recommendation!

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
