Although sceptical on arrival, not even the cab driver knew where it was, we were all pleasently surprised by this superb little establishment of just 11 rooms. From the warmth, friendliness and kindness of the welcome, to the cleanliness of the whole hotel, this quirky little hidden gem is very hard to fault. Not a bland faceless chain, this family...

The location of the Karoly Central is second to none with all of the main sights within easy walking distance. Finding our way into the hotel might have been difficult only the hotel had provided us with excellent directions. The entrance is "atmospheric" but once inside the hotel is bright ,clean, modern and comfortable. The staff are friendly and obliging....

Hotel was perfect for what we wanted, great location and affordable. We only stayed the one night, but there was nothing we weren't happy with. Hotel is small, which I preferred, clean and new. Staff were helpful and friendly - we had no troubles with our booking or our room. It is difficult to find, and the directions could be...

This was a charming little hotel. It was difficult to find, but it was a sort of adventure finding it. Because of the reviews, I was aware there were difficulties in finding it, and someone mentioned it was on the first floor - so using our common sense - we found it. The taxi knew right were the building was,...

I highly recommend this hotel to travelers from all over, any age, with any interest. Not only was it extremely affordable but the staff was kind, welcoming, and incredibly helpful with tips on where to eat, what to do, and all transportation questions. The rooms are comfortable, clean, endearing, and make one feel at home after a long day of...

We stayed at the Karoly Central over the Holidays. The hotel is centrally located, quiet and clean. The staff was always very friendly and helpful, and the room was perfect for the stay. Good Value for the Money. I would go back any time. The only critic we have that it is tricky to find. When you enter the building,...

Entrance a little difficult to find, as hotel is in a large building that shares its entrance with offices and apartments. Once inside was pleasantly surprised, newly decorated and was very clean and warm. Staff were very pleasant, and nothing was too much trouble, complimentary bottle of wine in room. Breakfast served in room as there was no dining area....

We stayed here for 4 nights from Dec.8th. Had no difficulty finding the hotel as the directions provided were accurate. However we arrived at 9pm and asked at reception for a recommended restaurant and were given directions to Matya's Pince. This was quite a distance away but we found it and were really dissapointed at the quality of the food and...

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel at the end of November 2008. It is a very well located hotel, within walking distance of all the main Budapest attractions. It is a family run hotel with friendly staff. We were welcomed with a free bottle of Hungarian wine, which was a nice gesture. It is modern, having only opened...

If you place a high priority on clean rooms and polite, friendly staff (who doesn't) then you can't do much better than this hotel. This is an unusual hotel in some respects, the entrance feels more like the entrance to someone's apartment (and is not easy to find as it is located inside a small courtyard), however this all makes...

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
