Partially renovated in the year 2015, the Hotel Neptun inspires its guests to be active in the healthy sea air, rich with negative ions. Every floor of this creative and sportive hotel is characterised with a type of recreation by the sea and is therefore a great choice for everyone who wants to live a healthy and active life. The hotel is situated on a tranquil location above the main Portorož promenade in the vicinity of the sea. Its comfortable rooms and the nearby pine tree garden make it an ideal choice for families. A covered passage connects the hotel to the Terme Portorož and the refurbished swimming pools with the thermal Prehistoric Sea and the swimming pools with heated sea water.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.

Nice big room with comfy bed and pillows. Big bathroom as well. They could change the towells every day, which they don't. Warm hanger for towells is very small so we couldn't dry them from one day to another. They also don't provide you with extra towells for pools/saunas.
Food in general is well prepared and tasty. I missed a bit more of diversity but most of the things I tried were good. Breakfast was pretty much standard selfservice. Per request they also provided gluten-free bread.
Location is a few minutes walk up the hill from the beach, but since you can use other Lifeclass hotels which are all connected via hallways and elevators you can simply use that instead of walking up the hill.
Pools are all with warm sea water. Surface/tiles by the pool were often very wet and slippery, so be careful about that. I tried to go the sauna but it was closed, without any signs or anything.
Girls in the animation team were excellent. Kids really enjoy it there and they make them feel welcome. They are chatty and very friendly. We loved it.
Biggest downside was PARKING, which is the only reason I gave Neptun 4 stars. They offer no free parking, eventhough they do have parking space across the road for hotel guests where ramp opens with a coded armband. They charge you 5€/day. This was a huge letdown, considering its a 4star hotel. On top of everything, the parking space was fully packed the first day so I was driving around the Portoroz and couldn't find any free parking space. Then I went back to reception desk and complained. Then they let me into the private parkng lot which is reserved for management board. Still they charged me 5€.

We stayed in this hotel as a family of 3. We got a nice family room, lots of space, nice bathroom, big balcony (not a nice view though). The first day we arrived there was no free parking space outside of hotel (which costs 5eur per day), so we had to park near by which costed us 18eur per day! This hotel has a problem with parking space. The receptionist lady (middle aged with glasses) was not kind. Breakfast was ok, but I expected a little bit more of choices for a 4 star hotel. Dinner was very delicious and staff in restaurant very kind, especially lady who was there to welcome guests. Pools are nice, water was warm. It was nice and relaxing there. Bathing suit is extra charge (what a joke for a 4* hotel!). All in all it is ok hotel, but in my opinion certainly not worth the money we paid for it. We have been in much better for that price.

A real nightmare with a parking space. The parking space is 2,5 km away from the hotel. You have to wait 15-40 minutes to get your car. Clean and tidy rooms. Food was ok. Nice location of the hotel.

We're not quite there. The hotel is very inconvenient from a logistical point of view for those with children, there are many steps to climb to reach the rooms and in some points the lift does not arrive. Even reaching the spa is not so intuitive and quite far from the rooms. The rooms are old, dirty (carpet stained very clearly in several places), the bathroom without a window doesn't even have a fan, the services in general are really basic, nothing more than a three star. The light on the terrace remains on all night without the possibility of turning it off, so it is not possible to have darkness in the room. Mostly the "blackout" curtains don't do their job at all so as soon as the sun rises you are invaded by light. We asked for a family room as there were three of us and we were assigned a room with two single beds pushed together plus a sofa... or not. Breakfast and dinner (for which you pay €21 per person excluding drinks) are not of high quality and there is very little choice. For that price I would have dined out somewhere else. The only positive note of the weekend was the sea view.

Two nights with one child costed about 400€ at the end. The extras were pretty much necessary, such as a bed for the child. The sea view was a mistake. The inconveniences started with checking in, because the hotel has less than optimal parking options. It is more like a joke in comparison with hotels at a similar price point. If you are alone, you will need to pay expensive parking somewhere else until they check you in. When we checked in I got a bracelet for the parking spaces where most of the LifeClass fences didn’t open. The one that did was about 130% full. I was driving around for about three quarters of an hour being more and more angry and wanted to go to complain and just leave the car in front of the hotel, where an employee gave me access to one of the parking places in front of the hotel. I was almost ready to forgive them for the experience at the start of the weekend until the checkout, where they billed us for the parking spot without previous notice.
A stay with a start like this is difficult to result in a good mindset, so take the further descriptions with a grain of salt. The rooms were clean, I hope they pay their staff good, because everything else was Yugoslavia stile. And not the good Yugoslavia style. The breakfast staff was more than OK, the food was average. The pools are OK, again the only thing that was better than OK was the staff.
I advise you not to get the room with the sea view, because there is some kind of a loud ventilator device that never stops. I don’t think it is the climate control, because I would guess, that the room would be freezing cold if the climate control was on, but it wasn’t and it was October.
So the experience is meh at best. Perhaps the location is worth enough to some people.

Incredibly poor service, does not feel like a four star hotel at all. The staff were not accommodating and did not have a smile on their faces. It was closed in bars and the kiosk by the pool etc. Feel cheated for this price, would absolutely not recommend!

The best thing is the location as it is practically facing the sea, everything else bad. At first you check in at another hotel in the same chain, then arriving at the hotel with bags up and down stairs is tortuous to end with a small elevator that makes the experience even more bad. Rooms are basic and breakfast with little variety of healthy things

Large rooms, not far from the beach (we had room with sea view). Pools and sauna park are at the Terme Portoroz. Breakfast could be a little bit better but the staff is kind. Parking is nearby against surcharge. A huge selection of massages and treatments.

My third visit to the hotel, great experience, top cleanliness, top service, top spa, I was lucky and was able to swim in the outdoor pool - perfect, I recommend it to everyone. Tv has USB input.
Cons: current conditions and complications with masks and disinfection in the spa, and maybe a little too loud climate from the neighboring hotel below, it was heard in the room, but I always have earplugs

Parking 2.5 km away, reception non-existent; or rather, one reception for 3 hotels. Old and poorly maintained structure. The only plus point is the location very close to the sea, for the rest...a big disappointment.

"If your room is facing the sea you will expect terrible noise from the street events and concerts (starting Friday night). During weekend it's better to be on the other side."
