Stayed here on a recent business trip and enjoyed a thoroughly relaxing stay. Rooms were very quiet and breakfast was decent. The decor is fairly modern and it is just a five-minute walk into the centre of Ljubljana. A nice base in a fantastic city.

To be fair the hotel is ok for business travel. We were very unfortunate to visit when England were playing a soccer international against Slovenia (thankfully they failed to win). What is it about the English soccer hooligans? They are individually probably ok but put them together and their IQ drops into single figures. Anyways, there were lots of hooligans... More

For those who are familiar with UK hotel chains I would liken this to a Travel Inn. The room we were given was a family room so it was spacious and had a large bathroom, although none of the wardrobes had any doors?! Breakfast was busy and I didn't think it offered a lot of choice for the size of... More

Dear Elaineytlee, thank you for choosing our hotel and thank you for posting this review. I am glad that you were able to enjoy our premium location and one of our family rooms. Thank you also for mentioning the wardrobe. You are correct - we have chosen the open-wardrobe system, since it is very practical in most of the cases.... More

It's very close to the city centre, the room was nice and clean, there are 2 supers in case you need something in close distance, and the one thing i really enjoyed it was about the breakfast the first hotel that there were snacks and food for the ones that are on diet.

I had a fantastic stay at City Hotel. Check in was quick and easy and the staff were very friendly. The room was large and clean and the bed was very comfortable. The shower was lovely. Breakfast was varied and delicious. I was able to leave my luggage on the last day until it was time to leave the city.... More

Located in the center of the city it is very convenient. For its class, it is very good. The personnel was kind and tried to help when our aircondition showed some problem. The only mistake was that we were not awaked at 5 am as requested. Thanks God we did not miss our plane.

The hotel is comfortable with friendly staff and ideal for conferences. It is close to the river, the castle and restaurants. There is really not much to complain about, except that it could be a bit more cozy in the restaurant area. But that may be my personal taste...

Ok it's clean. Ok it's adequate because it serves what it says it does ... but does it have just that added extra? No! It definitely does not! Breakfast is ok but not memorable (no light products!). Service is ok, but no smiles. Rooms are ok, but no surprises or cupboard space. Dinner is ok but stodgy! So would I... More

City hotel is walking distance from the train station and into the old town. Staff are friendly, speak good English and provide a good visitor map to help you get around. Our room was overlooking the main atrium, so a bit dark in the morning, and a little noisy from a conference that was there one night, but otherwise great.... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
City Hotel is located in the very heart of Ljubljana and is an excellent choice for both business guests and tourists to discover the charms of Ljubljana and Slovenia. It has a wonderful view of Ljubljana Castle and the city cathedral, and an ideal location just a stone’s throw from the historic old town. This pleasant hotel among the vibrant city inns, shops, and attractive historical buildings offers local Slovenian and international cuisine as well as a state-of-the-art congress center. The Jože Pučnik international airport is only 25 km from the hotel, and the main railway and bus station is only 400 m away. The hotel is easy to access from all of the city’s major roads; once in the city, you simply follow the blue hotel signs. Ljubljana’s City Hotel is the successor to the venerable Štrukelj Hotel, which opened in 1907. The current hotel excels in its friendly staff, the warmth of its rooms, and a broad range of services found at an excellent location in the very city center. City Hotel has 201 rooms, three luxury suites, an underground garage, a conference center with four meeting rooms, a library, a terrace, an Internet corner, a restaurant, and a bar. City Hotel’s complete makeover concluded with its opening in September 2007. The “basic” and “standard” rooms were renovated, and the “superior” rooms were moved to a completely new part of the hotel. All of the rooms use a card-locking system and all of them have free Internet access. ... more   less
