Stayed for two nights, a break, and then four nights. First chunk was booked via FHR, received an upgrade to a junior suite, which was very nice except for the radiator being fairly loud and the outlet I plugged the kettle into not working unless the hall light was on. Second chunk received an upgrade to an apartment, which was lovely, no complaints. Overall everyone I interacted with at the property, from the front desk staff to housekeeping to waitstaff was helpful and kind. Location is fantastic, short walk to tourist attractions and lots of public transportation options from buses to trams right down the steps from the Royal Castle. Crazy to think that the fancy hotel my mother would point out to me thirty years ago is where I stay now when I come home. Two thumbs up!

Elegant, historic, comfortable, old style. The staff was very courteous, the breakfast delicious. I also recommend the Marconi Cafe with the Bristol cake, which is delicious. I enjoyed every minute of my stay. This is a place for elegant people and likely the younger crowd will find it too old-fashioned. They need to install more electrical outlets in rooms - these days everybody has several gadgets that need to be charged.

We loved the location of this hotel, on the fringe of the Old City. We were greeted by Filip behind the front desk, who couldn’t do enough to welcome us and followed up with a phone call. When I needed help with purchasing train tickets, Marta from behind the desk, navigated it all for me with a smile. The staff was so nice, helpful, and pleasant. The room was well appointed and the bed was so luxurious. Just loved it. It was a wonderful experience and the perfect choice for our first time in Warsaw.

This afternoon I called the hotel to order a bottle of wine to a room. It wasn’t for me, but for my friends staying in the hotel. A simple request on the phone: please send a bottle of wine up to the room under name ABC. I was told it can be arranged but the problem was that I didn’t have a polish credit card to pay with over the phone. Bank transfer was not acceptable . That’s understandable hence I asked my relative who lives locally to call up the hotel on my behalf to order and pay for the bottle. Little did I know that it was going to take over an hour and a half to do( yes, 1.5h , 90mins!): on the phone, exchanging emails, filling in a form which was interestingly in English (while everyone included in the conversation was Polish !) and the concierge (or reception desk, I’m unclear who they spoke with) becoming rather rude. All for the sake of buying a 350PLN bottle of wine. It’s certainly not a service I’d expected from a hotel which claims to be one of the most reputable in Warsaw. And can someone please explain to me why a card payment over the phone would ever take more than 5 minutes? I was appalled and embarrassed that I put my relative thought this. Left with a very bitter taste, I hope that at least the wine was more palatable than the customer service.

Response from Hotel Bristol, Guest Services / Front Office at Hotel Bristol, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Warsaw
Responded 8 Jun 2021
Dear Madam, Allow me to first of all thank you for the time dedicated to share your experience with us. I am sorry that you were inconvenienced that way. I would like to explain that although we most certainly accept all sorts of cards – however for the safety reasons we cannot accept taking card numbers over the phone. I am sorry that we could not offer the bank transfer as payment for this immediate service as it takes few days to be credited, especially during bank holiday weekend. Security is our utmost priority therefore we have dedicated system to finalize payments when our guests are not in front of us and in need of our assistance. I am sorry that we could not offer this service in polish – It is global service for over 7000 hotels worldwide and although they are working on adding additional languages it will be a while still when we will have it in polish. Please be kindly informed that delay was caused by waiting for the form to get back to us and after it was received we immediately finalized the order. We will definitely take a look on how we could ameliorate this service to deliver more personalized options for our guests in the future. Thank you again for all valuable comments and we do hope to welcome you in Warsaw personally this time so we could provide an exceptional service and regain your trust in our timeless hotel. Kind regards, Anna Cichecka
