I stayed 6 days at Hotel Helios and I must say it was an experience like going back in time to communist Poland. Whereas the hotel facilities are acceptable, the real problem are the reception middle-aged ladies who really should get a proper customer service training. I felt more like in a hall of residence or boarding school in which receptionists behaved as if they were the real bosses. Be prepared for being shouted at and interrogated which room you are in, hotel main doors being closed at 8pm with reception unattended and you being stuck in the cold as well as any of your queries (or requests) being likely to be met with patronising answers as if you were scolded by a teacher. The hotel has very good location but the ladies at the reception (especially Malgorzata) should rethink how they approach hotel guests.…
Pretty basic hotel but did the job considering we weren't in the room too much. The room itself was very hot!! And considering we visiting in March when it was -2 we genuinely struggled to cool it down! The restaurant for the evenings is good prices & good food. The breakfast (that we paid extra for) was average. Good location overlooking great views though! we had to ask at reception for a hair drier as they aren't supplied in the room.
I had a single room for 6 nights inc breakfast for £110. It’s located overlooking a big park, walking distance (10 minutes) to the bus station and similar to the main shopping street. There’s a lovely restaurant and bar on site - 9 zloty beer, <20 zloty main courses. Friendly staff, most speaking really good English (my polish is very restricted). Nice room and bathroom with adequate storage and facilities. No English language TV. Light bulbs were a bit feeble. Bathroom blind covered most (but not all) of the window. Despite the minor faults, I’d definitely stay there again.
We chose this hotel for the price, location, mountain view and breakfast, and it didn't disappoint in those areas. The hotel is walking distance to the railway and bus stations, and has a couple of grocery stores nearby. The view to the mountains and the park was wonderful. The breakfast buffet was almost the same every day, but the food was tasty. We also had dinner at the restaurant once. We enjoyed our meals, and the price was more than reasonable. However, it was disappointing that the wi-fi was really poor, there was no hairdryer or a refrigerator, and the towels and bedding were threadbare. It also got bothersome to leave the room key at the front desk every time we stepped out. Electronic keys would be so much more convenient.
Good hotel value for money , clean rooms . Restaurant is very good . Not so expensive . The only small problem is there is no elevator. View from window is so refreshing and enjoyable . The scenery is so nice .
We booked a twin room since I was with my cousin and we were given an interconnecting room. That was a bonus coz we still had our privacy and two different bathrooms.... The location is great. the eggs with mayo for the breakfast were delicious.... Not to mention the amazing views from the windows of the Tatras ... Just wow wow wow The internet was not very reliable. They had lots of accounts and I tried them all. It was so poor that I almost drained all my data in 4 days when usually the same amount of data will last for a whole month. That is the only negative thing I have to say on this hotel. The hotel has the potential and they must improve the internet. Usually I travel alone and my only connection will be via internet. For this reason I might think twice to use this hotel again. There are quite a few complains regarding the internet / wifi so I'm sure they are aware of the problem. They should renovate the service .... this isn't anymore communism time so they should act on the guests feedback.…
Harsh, photos of the exterior of the building are not inviting, but like the song, inside it was a swan. Light, bright entrance and lobby, friendly, helpful staff throughout. Recently decorated and spotlessly clean. For 7 of us, grandparents, parents, children(3), we had 3 adjoining rooms, each had 4 large windows amazing views, in the foreground a very large park which led your gaze upward and upward to the magnificent Tatra Mountains. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful, the 2 evening meals we had were well cooked Polish type choices and less expensive than most of the many restaurants in Zakopane. There was a nice room for table tennis, which doubled as a play room for small children (with toys), sauna and 10 yards away in the park was a large, new chidren’s adventure playgroung. Helios Hotel really is a swan.…
Location of hotel is good, with easy access to restaurants and bars etc. No ski slopes within walking distance, with ski equipment, but taxis are cheap. Hotel bar supposed to stay open until 10, but in reality closes earlier. Certain staff members can be rather cold, blunt and rude. Were also presented with an unexpected "tourist tax " bill upon our departure. Standard of rooms ok, you get what you pay for, think 20 year old Travelodge and you get the picture. Good Buffett breakfast, especially for carnivores, but few options for vegans.
The views from the hotel are amazing and it is just 10min walk to the centre and those were the reasons we booked 3 rooms as we were 6 ladies. Reception area was very nice, first impression was great. Check in was good and we were told that our room was on the 3rd floor. Receptionist smiled and said that there was no lift in the hotel. It was very disappointing since we had 2 luggage each. It was exhausting going up especially having an elder person in the group. Rooms and bathrooms would do with some lifting and good maintenance in upper floors. Hotel is not ideally for elder persons and disabled persons due to no lift.
