We just got back from our holiday to Sopot and Gdansk. We stayed four nights in Sofitel Grand hotel in a Junior Suite with sea side view and balcony. We had our four year old twins with us who slept on a very comfy sofa bed. I usually leave writing hotel reviews to my husband but I thought I’ll do my own one this time. This hotel is absolutely fantastic. We usually visit this hotel winter time and it was the first time we stayed in August. It was busier than in Winter, but the quality of customer service was as good as always. Staff are really attentive and caring. No real queues at reception and the receptionists were very friendly. When we arrived, concierge took care of our suitcases and brought them to our room. Breakfast buffet did not have as huge selection of delicious Polish goodness as usually due to COVID restrictions but there was still enough to satisfy in my opinion the hungriest and the most demanding guests. The ala carte menu had a rich selection of beautiful breakfast dishes. Special thank you to Daniel who each morning would organise an absolutely fantastic English breakfast for us and pancakes for our daughter. Daniel and the rest of the breakfast staff were outstanding! There’s this eye contact between the staff and a guest. You don’t have to look around and seek their attention for ages (as we unfortunately experienced in the next hotel we stayed in) They just come up and ask how they can assist or if we need anything! It really made us feel special. The staff would also pay a lot of attention to our kids, making jokes and interacting with them. The room was specious, clean and equipped with Nespresso coffee machine. On our last night my daughter spilled the entire yogurt on our bed. The sheets were changed within 5 minutes by a lovely housekeeper who also supplied our room with extra coffee capsules, bottled water and coffee cream. The view from our balcony was fantastic. The beds are so comfortable and huge! We always have the best night sleep there. The swimming pool was lovely. There’s a little paddling pool which our kids loved but they wouldn’t stay there long as the temperature is the same as in the main pool. It said it was 28.5 which was perfect for my morning swim. This hotel is so iconic and so magnificent! My husband who is English and travelled a lot does not want to stay anywhere else! Only Sofitel Grand Hotel in Sopot! Thank you for making our holiday special! Show less

Amazing place with 100 years of history. Pros: Spacious family rooms Quality food View on the pier (molo) Friendly staff Wonderful garden with cool old fashioned beach baskets Friday DJ evening and Saturday piano evening SPA Swimming pool and saunas Close to the big park area Amazing location by the main pier Private beach Super helpful Concierge Dogs are welcome too 🙂 Cons: 1. Restaurant has a very limited menu so not really prepared for guests who stay for a longer holiday (unless someone likes to eat the same food over and over again...) 2. No baby food in the menu (only kids menu- for older kids) Of course, chef can always prepare something improvised. Sometimes it will be suitable for babies, sometimes not (depends on a chief). The funny thing is, even if it won’t be (and you send it back untouched to the kitchen) you’ll find it added to your total bill. Feels a bit like a con... 3. Petite balconies (not big enough for one chair even) 4. Very chaotic breakfast organization with inexperienced/not well trained staff. 5. Small choice on the breakfast buffet 6. Unfriendly and dismissive breakfast manager (blond young woman, always with a fake smile) 7. Room service often not replacing used toiletries or water 8. No indoor playground as their playroom is only an empty room with soft blocks and stuff attached to the wall (no toys, books or dedicated staff). No kids club! 9. Lots of spiders on the balconies (they live in little holes in the balcony window frame, you can always see some legs sticking out there... and lots of spider webs everywhere on the balcony too). So not the best place if you are afraid spiders 😆 During our long stay we had a very good and a very bad experiences here- Good: We got an upgrade to a suite which was very nice and much appreciated 🙂 Bad: I left an expensive necklace in the bathroom and despite of knowing exactly where I have left it, it hasn’t been found by the hotel, which means that someone obviously have taken it (was it a cleaner who cleaned my room after I left, concierge who was checking my room for the “eventuality of leaving anything” as he promised, or a guests who got my room the next day? (this option seems to be less likely for an obvious reason) I couldn’t say. All I know is that it hasn’t been found... waiting to hear from the hotel’s legal department about how we proceed with that case. Unfortunately, fact that I have left an important and expensive piece of my jewelry there and someone just took it (!?!?!) means that probably I will never choose that hotel again but still, it’s definitely a place worth recommending if only you keep all your valuables in safe and eat lunch and dinner out, rather than in the hotel’s restaurant (plenty of good options around there!)

Room Tip: Not worth paying extra for the balcony as it’s so petite you won’t fit a chair there

I have visited the hotel before and this time it felt like I didn’t get the value for money… no elevator to the last floor where out room was, very basic breakfast buffe for this type of a hotel, nightstand only on one side of the bed so phone and remote end up on the floor, and the whole building felt like it needs a major cleaning and renovation.

A very nice hotel with the perfect location! Big spacious room with very comfortable beds. Private sun bed area at the beach with very friendly staff. You can both enjoy food and drinks while getting a tan in their comfortable sun beds. Very good breakfast and nice pool area in the spa section. We stayed for 6 days and enjoyed both hotel facilities and staff.
