A very intimately friendly hostel which I felt at home in right away. I stayed here in the depths of winter when it was about minus 10 outside. The lounge area was just what was needed at this time, a very cosy, homely feel to the place. Ian the owner greets every new guest personally, and can offer lots of...

Olomouc is a nice unknown city, full of history and life. If you're traveling around Prague and Bratislava, you should have a short stay there for sure. If so, don't miss The Poet's Corner Hostel, a familial and cosy place, where it feels just like home. A nice discovery during my trip, a little treasure of humor and welcoming.

Recently stayed here for two nights while visiting Olomouc. As mentioned in many of the previous reviews, the hostel manager Ian was really helpful. When we checked in, he ran through all the local sights and gave his tips on good places to go for food or drinks. We shared a large twin room. Comfortable with a lot more extra...

Everything is old and well used with character. Nice view of the cathedral. Easy to get stuck here (in a good way). The owners were pleasant hosts. Nice kitchen if you cook. Of the 2 staff, one actually tried to be pleasant, the other seemed to be stuck in teenage angst. One of those "everyone is sooo stupid" stage. Created...

Its disappointing for us to read your unfortunate description of staff, especially seeing as how you are actually referring to a former staff member who was our guest at the time. Its also disappointing as you mentioned on several occasions how much you liked the hostel, even describing it as 'how a hostel should be!'. You extended your stay a...

Ian was the epitome of the perfect host. Prior to our arrival, I inadvertently booked a 3 night stay and asked if the reservation could be changed to one night. Ian gladly agreed to change my request. When we arrived in Olomouc, we were greeted by a homey hostel and a great view of the city. After traipsing about cobbled...

Really the only hostel in town. Stayed in a private room and it was comfortable enough (you really can't get a private room for cheaper in Olomouc as prices are weirdly kind of high). Felt the springs in my bed a bit but it was clean. Bit of a weird smell in the hostel as well. Manager is a nice...

We were at the hostel for two nights, with a day (and an evening) to see the whole of Olomouc. After we'd made acquaintances with the hostel owner we were invited to drink a cup of tea while checking in. It's a cosy place and the owners (staff) were very helpful. We got good recommendations for breakfast (as it is...

I've been to this hostel with my wife and children (age of 14 and 10) on the way to Poland, so we had only a limited amount of time in Olomouc and we liked to use it to visit the Olomouc's old town. This hostel is an excellent place to do this - very conveniently located, near the old town,...

I regret having only had one night in Olomouc, as it is a charming town with a lot of interesting history. Poet's corner was the perfect place to stay - quiet, homey, and comfortable. The maps provided by the hostel were extremely helpful, as was Ian who answered all my questions and gave me some helpful pointers.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Cosy Corner Hostel (formerly known as Poets Corner Hostel) is a traditional backpackers hostel located in the wonderful, historic city of Olomouc which is recognized as one of Europe's true hidden gems. The hostel features mixed dorm rooms for the budget minded traveller as well as spacious and stylish private rooms with some antique furniture. Some of our rooms have a nice view too. The 'heart' of the hostel is the cosy common room complete with armchairs you can sink into, perfect for our guests to gather, make new friends and share travel stories, or just curl up to some good music or a book. We have a book exchange and some boardgames too. Cosy Corner Hostel also has a fully equipped guest kitchen which is a great place to prepare your own meals or enjoy a bit of 'potluck' with your fellow guests. Good teas and coffee are always available. Bathrooms are shared but only a few steps away from any room. There is also a cute little balcony with a gorgeous view of St Wenceslas Cathederal and the hills beyond. Free WI-FI is available throughout the entire hostel. Towels are provided for all private rooms and are free on request for dorm room guests. Smoking is NOT permitted inside the hostel. We allow pets but only for guests staying in private rooms. Please inform us at the time of booking if you have a pet. The hostel also provides LOTS of information about Olomouc and surrounds and all guests are given our customized map of the town to help them get the most out of their stay. We also have a laundry service for guests which is 100 CZK per load but FREE if you stay 3+ nights. We enjoy hosting travellers from all over the world and often socialize with our guests, be that for a meal, coffee, drinks, an ice hockey game in the winter and occasionally on daytrips out of town. We look forward to meeting you and helping you get the most out of one of Europe's hidden gems - OLOMOUC. ... more   less
