Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Fabulous location, our window looks right over the amazing astronomical clock on the historic old town square. Even though the square is quite lively, there wasn’t noise from the street, I guess their windows are good at soundproofing? More important was the room - omg we had the most unbelievable room - spacious, actually huge, incredibly high ceilings… having just come from tours of Vienna’s fancy palaces, we felt like we were in royal quarters. The chambers were so large I can imagine hosting a chamber music soiree. Glorious. And for a reasonable price, too! The only downside for us is the lack of a kettle or a coffeemaker in the room

This hotel could have been so much more and we left feeling very disappointed . It was our third time to Prague , stayed previously in the Dominican and Elite hotel , both were exceptional . The hotel was in an excellent location , eating breakfast looking at the clock was amazing , the rooms were spotless , comfy but the layout in 207 was bizarre . The hotel was split into 2 and to go to breakfast you had to go to outside , to go back in . The breakfast was ok , plenty of choice but I’ve had better . No lounge or bar area except for a couple of seats in front of the reception . We found the receptionists unfriendly , unhelpful , unwelcoming and disinterested . They were too engrossed with what was on their mobile phones and it was a huge inconvenience when you approached the desk to ask a question . The staff in the breakfast area were the same , very cold and did not want to engage with their customers . However , the older porter was helpful and friendly .This hotel could have been so much more , they need to sort their staff out as they really let the hotel down . I won’t be returning .

We booked a one bedroom apartment which was an annexe to the main hotel. It was just a 5 minute walk away in a nice quiet street. There were several restaurants very close by. The main hotel is located across the square from the Astronomical Clock. The apartment was spacious and had a kitchen and laundry which was very useful. We were able to have breakfast at the main hotel each day at Cafe Mozart whjich had great elevated square views towards the Astronomical Clock. Breakfast was quite reasonable. On our last few days we were lucky to see some light snow which added to the atmosphere.

Grand Hotel Praha is a very nice hotel located right in the old square and we had this beautiful view of the Christmas market from our room. The room was spacious with old furniture but very comfortable. The breakfast was good but not outstanding. Thus, we thoroughly enjoyed our three-night stay. The hotel offered a prepaid transfer from the airport upon arrival and back on the day of departure which we accepted. However, when we arrived no one was at the airport to pick us up and after we had waited for a long time at the arrivals, we decided to call the hotel. After multiple tries, the hotel front desk finally answered and informed us that they had forgotten to send someone to pick us up. We took a taxi to the hotel. Then the day before departure we made sure that the prepaid transportation would be there the next day. Sure enough a friendly chauffeur picked us up and took us to the airport but upon arrival he told us that we had to pay for the trip. This service was a nightmare. Another thing which annoyed us was the internet connection in our room. It only worked for few minutes at a time and, thus, it was more or less useless. We politely complained but was simply told that there was nothing wrong with the internet. No one came to check the connection. Again, Grand Hotel Praha is a great hotel, but the front desk service needs to be improved.

Location 5☆ Cleanliness 5☆ Granny chic decor 5☆ Overall we enjoyed our stay at this hotel. You can't argue that location is perfect, friendly staff, and really clean. Issues I had with was that our room was in the attic and had slope on the roof which made issue with bath that was underneath and we literally wacked our heards at least 2 times a day, no joking (I'm 181cm high) and the slope was same in bedroom as it was literally above bed. At night when you need to get up in the dark you must think how to get out to dint hit it with your head. I know it sounds trivial but unfortunately effected our experience. Second thing was because of the decor, how vintage it was it was so unpractical, old wardrobe, some old furniture which I would not put my clean clothes in. There is old and there was old old. The building is confusing as it has many corridors, stairs etc which can be annoying at times. Overall the place is fun and definitely has a lot of character.

Brilliant hotel. Quirky and beautiful. Location could not be better. Staff were very helpful and arranged all transfers etc. Consierge came to meet us from the taxi and took our bags to the hotel. Rooms are beautiful, spacious and very clean. Maid service daily. Buffet breakfast was provided in a wonderful room opposite the astronomical clock. The bigger rooms had dressing rooms and huge bathrooms. Beds were some of the most comfortable we've slept on. These rooms are a considerable walk from reception with stairs through the old buildings. We loved it and would definitely stay again.

it was a mistake to choose this hotel for several reasons. First of all, there are two buildings but they are not connected. The older building where I stayed had no elevator but a huge amount of stairs to negotiate. I felt very disconnected from the hotel itself. The room was uninviting, way too much formal furniture (antiques) with no comfortable place to sit. Secondly, the noise on the square since it is close to the Astronomical Clock is terrible. ON weekends the noise easily goes past midnight.Once you have seen the Astronomical clock you dont need to see it over and over again with hoards of crowds below your room outside. breakfast was okay, nothing spectacular. it felt like they have a shortage of staff both at desk and restaurant. A woman was stationed on the ground floor begging tourists to come into the Mozart tea room. felt way to intrusive. regret staying on the square itself.

On arrival reception very very slow at check in and then didn’t know which room to allocate us Stay away from rooms 219-220 as the view is of the building next door and there is constant noise from the walkway next to it Don’t expect modern decor or furnishings this is period decor which itself could do with some attention too There were only 2 plug sockets and no kettle Location excellent Breakfast good Room could be a lot better Reception staff very slow All in all Prague was fantastic

We stayed in Room 211 opposite the Astronomical Clock, and it was wonderful! All of the staff were excellent! When we needed to leave early because of a family emergency, all of the staff were supportive and sympathetic. We took advantage of the Oliva Verde restaurant which was associated with the hotel. The staff there was also very friendly. The breakfast buffet at the hotel was very good. We wish they had had scrambled eggs every day. We would definitely stay here again would recommend it enthusiastically!! Thank you for everything!
