Detailed Reviews
I cannot say enough about this hotel. We really enjoyed our stay here and highly recommend it to anyone who wishes to visit this beautiful city! We stayed over New Year for four nights.
The hotel rooms were very modern and cleaned daily. There are free soft drinks (coke/water/fruit juice) available from the minibar in the room which is replenished daily. The quality and quantity of the toiletries means that it is not necessary to bring your own. There is even a travel adapter in your room!
Breakfast was a small continental selection. You can pay extra if you want hot breakfast items although we never did this. I would recommend going for breakfast early as it can get a little hectic the later you go. They extended breakfast hours on New Years Day to accommodate those with sore heads.
The location! I don’t think it could be in a better spot. Only a few minutes walk from the old town square but just enough out of the way to miss the hustle and bustle as such the street noise from the town is minimal. I agree with other reviews that there isn’t much of a view but the hotel gives you everything else and more!
Finally and most importantly the quality of service provided by this exceptional hotel. The staff go above and beyond to please guests and their attention to detail is outstanding. You can clearly see that they are always striving for the best service possible. It is the little touches that really make the difference.... they surprised my wife with a cake in our room for her birthday! Wow!

All the staff was exceptionally friendly and responsive to requests (and spoke English in addition to Czech and other languages). My room was large by European standards, clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The room’s ac/heat unit would not go lower than 19 Celsius, but the windows are easy to open. If you also turn the fan on, it will further cool the room (and also provide “pink noise” to the rowdy crowds coming out of the bars in the wee hours). The bathtub may prove problematic for guests with mobility issues in getting in/out of it so I would recommend that you request an accessible room. The continental breakfast was good and had a variety of offerings from hard boiled eggs, hummus, yogurt and muesli to ham/cheese. Would definitely stay here again.

Dear Flyingcat55, Thank you so very much for taking time sharing your experience at Maximilian Hotel during your recent Prague visit. We are very glad that you enjoyed our amenities every single bit, especially the fact we could offer you a comfortable rest after your outing. Regarding to the bathtub, there are rooms with rainfall showerheads which could be alternative option whichever suits the best upon request. Our ac/heat is based on the central AC system, and the certain temperatures it's set with the variant seasons due to the environmental concern as we would pretty much like to take part. Furthermore, we do appreciate to know you found our breakfast good and enjoyable and it firms our believe that how we shall start a new day with a healthy & fresh breakfast. In addition to your kind note about our staff, we are truly thankful to have such a wonderful diverse team to deliver this the one and only Maxi vibes to our guests. Warm greetings from Maximilian Team! Eva Chen

We stayed here in November, along with my parents, and had a fantastic time. The hotel is in a great location, quiet area but close to all main attractions and easy access to public transportation. Some great bars nearby too for a nightcap. The hotel was recently renovated and the rooms were decorated really nicely. All the staff (and especially Eva) were great and went above and beyond to help with all our requests or questions. A good healthy breakfast was available in the mornings. On our check out day, earlier than breakfast was served, they offered to pack us some items to take to the airport with us. Would definitely stay here again on our return to Prague.

The rooms are beautiful, the location is amazing and you will surely love this place if you’re a foreigner. All your needs will be attended to.
If you’re Czech however, get ready to wait 40+ minutes almost daily at breakfast. The first day we had no issue - we didn’t know whether the staff was Czech or not so we were speaking English to them and everything was fine.
From that day on we decided to greet the staff in Czech and that’s when the usual treatment of Czech customers in the center of Prague began. They just see you as second class. The other tables can come later, receive their food sooner and also be asked if they want anything else to drink and have their tables cleaned. Won’t be the case for you though. You’ll wait on your food not be asked anything.
But if you’re Czech you’re probably used to that at this point if you’ve ever visited any business close to the Old Town Square.

Dear janadA, Thank you for your time and for writing this feedback. We always appreciate honest reviews and constructive criticisms. However, we have to disagree with your claim that we discriminate or mistreat Czech customers. We have many Czech guests who are happy and satisfied with our service and we do not provide different customer service according to nationality/language; we hold ourselves to a higher standard where customer service and guest satisfaction is a priority. The majority of our loyal and returning customers are Czech. And our staff is comprised of people from all over the world and everyone is welcome in our hotel. Regardless, we apologize that you had this feeling with us, we never want our guests to feel anything but welcome and appreciated. We investigated and we believe that your trip fell on a time period where we were shorthanded and we apologize for that. We hope to see you again in the future so you can experience our true hospitality. With regards, Your Maximilian Team / Negin Bakhshandehyar

We regularly visit Plant Zen Spa located inside the Maximillian Hotel and decided to try lunch there in the Cafe seating at the front entrance. I understand the hotel has new owners and we are quite impressed with the extensive renovations. Clearly the Owners and Architect did not cut any corners ! The attention to detail is evident everywhere and you get a sense of quality and hight standards that I would imagine have been established from the top down.
Now about the food. Simple lunch menu is very reasonably priced, we both chose the carrot soup which was amazingly tasteful. My Peruvian Beef Stew and Purple Potatoes was likewise very flavorful and unique. I highly recommend a visit, the value is beyond expectations !

Dear Ben M, Such a delightful feedback to read from you! We are really happy to know you enjoyed every single bit what Maximilian could possibly offer, from the design details to the gastronomical experience. Seeing you took time highlighting the whole gastronomic journey especially, we'd like to share that our aim is to prove that even a hotel restaurant can offer not only great service and reasonable prices but above all a menu of creative cuisine which keeps you coming back, or at least offers a lingering image of what you had, we say, Brasserie is our proud! It also fascinates us as you took such a detailed notice about the design of Maximilian. Hence, we'd like to share a few notes back. The Owners of the hotel remains to the same family, and fortunately the Architect (Conran and Partners) who gave Maximilian the fresh look, is collective architecture and interior design practice and their aim is to create buildings and spaces with their own sense of location, identity and character which through their form, detail and materiality manifest distinctive personalities with charm and relevance. Once again, you kind praises will be surely passed on the the backstage of our Brasserie as well as the Owners and the management. We do expect and look forward to see you more often! Warm Regards Eva Chen Guest Relations

Great hotel in a nice location. The staff were lovely, always smiling and super helpful. They helped me figure out transportation from the airport and to my next location for my work meetings at the end of the week. Every time I was in the reception/dining space for more than a moment, someone was always checking in to see if I’d like a drink or if I needed anything. But in an attentive way, not an annoying, overbearing way. They also provided helpful restaurant recommendations.
The room was clean, nicely designed, and quiet (and I was there on a weekend and during the week so got the mix of busy-ness). Now for the really important stuff: I stayed in a “mini” room that wasn’t actually all that mini. Plenty of space and didn’t feel cramped at all like a tiny European hotel can feel. The hairdryer in the room was really nice (one of my favorite little luxuries!). The minibar is free and has nice glass bottles of soda, juice, and still/sparkling water in addition to the electric kettle and tea bags. Breakfast was included with my room and it was great each morning: tons of pastries and juices and you can order from the menu to get yogurt/granola (super fresh) or eggs. Not at all a dingy hotel breakfast! And they also offer gluten free bread (important to me and anyone else with celiac!). Finally, if you book on their site, you can choose a “welcome gift”; I chose the bouquet of fresh flowers and it was such a treat to get to my room and have a beautiful seasonal bouquet waiting for me with a nice note from the hotel wishing me a pleasant stay. A lovely gesture.
Overall? Loved it here.

The staff at the hotel really made our stay a pleasure. From a warm welcome to a fond farewell, every interaction with every person was at all times friendly, efficient and professional. The hotel is newly refurbished and very clean. The brasserie is reasonably priced and the food was fresh and tasty. Whilst there we availed of Planet Zen Spa. The therapists were competent and attentive and the treatments were reasonably priced for their quality.
This is a very nice hotel in a great location and the team of staff there ensured we had a great week in Prague, despite arriving one hour after the state of emergency was declared during this never ending pandemic!
Highly recommended.

We recently returned from a short family break in the beautiful city of Prague. This stay included four nights in the excellent Maximilian Hotel. The location, in the centre of the city, was perfect and within walking distance for most centres of interest to us. The rooms were well furnished and very comfortable. There was a good choice for the continental breakfast and a wide a la carte menu available. The "porridge" option was so fulsome that my husband and daughter shared the one portion of this "meal" between them each morning! However, the most impressive feature of the hotel, for us, was the friendliness and professionalism of the entire Maximilian staff throughout our stay. Maximilian Hotel, we give you five stars and would happily return!

By far the best hotel we stayed in our two-week, three country, European journey. Well run, with friendly, helpful staff, in a good location near the Old Market Square (a eight- to ten-minute walk), Charles Bridge, and a tram station (two- or three-minute walk) which we took to the funicular, Ledesky park and the palace/St. Vitus cathedral. Also, check out the #194 bus that passes directly in front of the hotel. (Perk – seniors 65 and over ride for free on the tram and buses; remember to carry a picture ID in case anyone checks which no one did during the several rides we took.) Our room (#206) for four nights was on the second floor (the third floor for Americans; there is an elevator, but it does not go to the top floor) and had a nice balcony looking out onto the church across the street. The balcony had a table and two chairs. The room was spacious by European standards with a comfortable king bed (not a fan of the pillows though), table and chair with banquette sofa, plenty of outlets (including USB charging ports in one of the outlets), small refrigerator stocked with free beverages (no mini-bar), and a drawer with a hotpot for making tea and coffee. Even the safe and the closet had outlets in them. There was a blackout curtain and the room was quiet. Wifi was adequate and free. AC worked well. The bathroom was large with sufficient shelves for storing cosmetics. Shower, no bath, which was fine with us. Like many European hotels, washcloths were not provided. Our room rate included breakfast which was served in a room off the reception area and adjacent to a nice library and garden area. Breakfast was terrific – plenty of fruits and items on the buffet and you could also order egg dishes, such as omelets, eggs Benedict, eggs Florentine, and eggs in a glass, and a vegan option, from the menu at no extra charge. Service was prompt and, much to the delight of my wife, coffee refills came swiftly. One of the buffet items was French toast cut in cubes with lots of sugar which you must try – the waiter said the recipe was a secret. The library was an inviting place to sit and write in our journals and read. It had an honor bar with alcohol and mixers.
The in-house brasserie served as a welcome oasis after walking and traveling around the city. Drinks, lunch and dinner (tables on the sidewalk were an option) were reasonably priced and the food was good.
Can’t say enough about the staff. All our questions and requests were answered with a smile and a genuine desire to help. The Maximilian appears well managed with thought given to the needs of travelers. We highly recommend the Maximilian for your stay in Prague.

Dear Gary, Thank you very much for your invaluable review, not only for us but for fellow travelers as well. We greatly appreciate the detailed insights you've shared about your stay. It's wonderful to hear that you enjoyed our location, amenities, and especially the breakfast service. Regarding the note about the French toast — our chefs like to say that the most important ingredient is the love and dedication they put into their work! We’re thrilled to hear that you enjoyed it, along with the rest of your stay. Your feedback is important to us; we apologize the pillows weren't to your liking. For your next visit, please feel free to request a change, as we have pillow options that are firmer and might better suit your preference. You definitely managed to capture the essence of our hotel in your review! We prioritize our guests' needs and are constantly working on enhancing their experiences. Your recommendation means a lot to us, and we are grateful for your kind words. We look forward to welcoming you back to the Maximilian and continuing to provide you with a memorable experience! Warm Regards, Maryana Silina Guest Relations Officer

I would highly recommend this hotel. We were looking for a nice hotel in a central location and we couldn't have chosen a better hotel. To be honest we couldn't believe how nice it was for the price we paid.
The hotel is immaculately clean and modern and there isn't one thing I can fault about it. All the staff are friendly and helpful.
Our room was upgraded on arrival as it was our anniversary with a complimentary bottle of prosecco and a nice welcome note. There is a mini fridge with complimentary drinks such as water, coke, apple and orange juice and free to use safe along with hairdryer, shampoo, conditioner and bodywash.
The breakfast was lovely! You order from the menu (we had an omelette and eggs benedict on both mornings with green tea and latte),
they have a fresh bread station and another station with fresh fruit, juices, yogurts etc.
In terms of location it is walking distance to everywhere. A couple of minutes from the the metro station and the old town square where the astronomical clock is and a few minutes from Charles Bridge and the Jewish cemetery and so on. It couldn't be better located.
We were looking for a hotel that wasn't too cheap and one that wasn't too expensive as we knew we wouldn't be spending too much time in the room but we got so much more than we expected, it could have been double the price and we wouldn't have moaned.
I would highly recommend this hotel and I will be recommending to anyone I know who is going to Prague.
Thank you for a truly enjoyable stay and help making our anniversary a special one.

Dear ChiaPetPet,
thank you for your message.
I am glad to confirm that we opened a brand new hotel in August 2019.
In our Maximilian Website you can see all updated pictures.
On TripAdvisor you can see as well old pictures that cannot be removed because they belong to guest reviews, but for sure they belong to the old property that has been completely renovated.
Thank you Mccloud78 for your reply and for recommending our Hotel!
If you would have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact directly our reception team.
Have a lovely start of the week.

Henley-on-Thames, United Kingdom9 contributions16 helpful votesI read on the website that the hotel is across 2 buildings. Could someone who has stayed explain how this works? What is the distance between the two?
Dear gabriele594,
Thank you for your raising up the question.
As our website stated, there are two buildings on Maximilian Hotel. One is on the front and another one on the back connected with our beautiful Brasserie in between.
We are freshly reopened recently and hoping to welcome you in person soon.
Warm Regards,
