This place promises to be a cute, quaint, step back in time to a guest house built in 1625 in a gorgeous part of Europe. It presents well from the outside, a bright yellow building on a quiet street just outside the main centre of CK. But ultimately we found it to be poorly run, badly maintained and lacking any kind of staff assistance whatsoever. - No staff on arrival, had to call (answered on the third try) to get front door key from a box. No offer to come help with anything nor was there any process to check in. Just told to open the door, and find the room with a note on the door and key in the lock. Seemed amatuerish. - Staircase up to the rooms was VERY steep, although it isn't long and we managed. - Room itself is literally nothing more than a bed, table, wardrobe. There is a kettle but no coffee supplied. We booked a room with a private bathroom (have it in writing) and got a shared bathroom. Not impressed. - The place is poorly maintained. Broken light fixture, bathroom sink was blocked, (nothing like going to the loo to find your neighbours hair sitting in a pool of water), heater didn't work and found a nice pool of water in the room when we woke up - presumably a leak from somewhere. Also found a used lipgloss sitting between the beds. Nice. - The lady who runs it was standing out the front having a cigarette when we got back from dinner - first time we had seen her - never said a word. No greeting. - On checkout she just told us to leave the key on the counter. We did, as we looked forward to heading off and finding a place that actually gave a crap about us. Such a shame. No point arguing any of our findings. - We paid $43 euro per night, slept OK and it served its purpose I guess, but if it was run by someone who still had some amount of passion left, then it would be a real treat. As it is a broken, small, self-serve establishment which should be avoided.

With so many lodging options in town (it seems like there must be over 100 just in the city center) its hard to imagine this is one of the better places to stay. The location is really nice though - just 100m from the bridge leading to the old city so you are super close without being in the mix. There are 6 rooms accessed by a steep stair. The rooms were clean and very adequate, although the beds were not super comfortable they were OK. They had everything ready for our arrival. Some of the pensions and hotels have parking but this one does not which could be an issue if you come by car. Parking is impossible in the summer around here (although we eventually found some). There is no AC and it was really hot when we visited, but we left the windows open but bugs were not an issue even in August. Street noise was not a major issue as it is on a lightly traveled street. The price was certainly right and it was more than adequate for a budget lodging. I would recommend it for the location and cleanliness and value as long as you have reasonable expectations, but like I said there are TONS of nearby options including a half dozen places just within steps of this one.

We booked the pension for our family trip cca 3 months before we came. When we arrived, they told us, that we will spend our time in different building. We did not like it! It was not what we booked, it was not historical, the smell was not good. When I called the owner, she was really arrogant and told us, that we can move away (It was 7.p.m., Krumlov in session was fully booked, we have a little child). I can understand, that this situation can happen, but I expected apologize but not this.

We had a room with bathroom on the top floor. Cute room in a rustic pension. We were comfortable there and everything to see is close. The negative would be that the street outside is a little noisy and the internal traffic on the stairs echoes through the building.
