We had a lovely overnight break in the heritage. Arriving early we had lunch which was a nice setting overlooking the golf club, food was very nice. Check in time was great 3 o’clock. Our room was huge the bed was gorgeous so comfortable. We had a treatment booked so we went to the spa. The mud room treatment was lovely and so relaxing. The spa itself was nice pity about the outdoor pool being so cold we avoided it. Dinner in Blake’s the setting is gorgeous the food was ok the starter and dessert where nice the main was bland, nothing wrong with them just bland and boring we had the cod and steak the fish was just missing a sauce. I would come again but eat in the bar. Breakfast was really nice my husband loved the omelette. I ordered eggs royale and was given egg florentine I didn’t bother asking for the change once I noticed as we where rushing, I’m not mad on spinach but can’t fault the rest of the food! All in all a lovely stay really great value we will definitely be back maybe hoping the menu is updated in the restaurant.

The hotel bar and restaurant food was outstanding. Breakfast was so good also. Very friendly staff throughout. Bedrooms were spotless and well stocked with water, towels etc. Exception to our stay being all good was the receptionist when l said l had a small complaint regarding our 2 rooms. I specifically asked at the time of confirmation of booking could we have 2 rooms close together and was informed that our request would be granted but it turned out we were 24 rooms apart! The receptionist did not make any comment when l said it to her only sorry about that.. no explanation. Also we had booked under a special offer which was great value.. unfortunately it didn’t cover use of the thermal spa! We only discovered this when we went to use the facilities. The cost was €25 per person and the spa suite attendant asked my daughter would she like a tour and proceeded to bring her to the first area and disappeared. While the special offer included a voucher for Kildare Village Shopping Centre l feel it would be better to include the thermal spa cost and cut the voucher value. Also possibly at the time of check in l think it would be very good if the receptionist outlined what the offer included as we had booked it some time ago and obviously the thermal spa suite turned out to be an issue.

Dear C8895QEmartinak Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay overall, especially the food, breakfast, and the friendliness of our staff. It’s also wonderful to know that you found the bedrooms spotless and well-stocked. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience regarding your room allocation. While we always strive to accommodate special requests, we regret that we were unable to fulfill yours on this occasion. We also apologise for the lack of communication from our reception team when you raised your concern—we will be reviewing this internally to ensure better handling in the future. Regarding the thermal spa access, we understand how this may have caused disappointment, and we will certainly take your feedback into account when reviewing future packages. Additionally, we will ensure our reception team provides clearer information at check-in about what is included in each offer. Thank you again for your valuable feedback. We truly appreciate your comments and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for an even better experience in the future. Kind Regards Helen

From the moment you walk through the doors into the lobby you know your somewhere special. The staircase is a very impressive and wonderful backdrop for photos. We were checked fast and by a very lovely Chloe. We stayed in room 309 which had a was spacious ,luxurious and the en-suite bathroom had a huge shower and separate roll top bath. Very nice to have both options. Our first night we dined in the Seven bar ,food was fantastic and reasonably priced. Our second night we changed it up and dined in Blakes restaurant. Again food was extremely enjoyable and reasonably priced, there's a lovely relaxed vibe in Blakes in comparison to Seven which was busy on a Sunday party due to it being the bar and rugby was being shown. So ideal for more casual dining, but Blakes is perfect for more intimate dining. Breakfast is served in Blakes each morning which has a cold buffet well stocked with lots of opinions and oatmeal is also available self service at the buffet. Cooked breakfast options are from the menu and delivered to your table along with tea/coffee etc. My daughter who has multiple serious food allergies found she could enjoy a good few options in each place we dined.Staff in restaurants, bars ,were professional, courteous and friendly. Special mention to Michelle who served us breakfast and Ray who brought our room service and was just so accommodating and considerate. This hotel is definitely worth the price, its exudes luxury. The spa has some wonderful deals for treatments and I'd advise checking it out the leisure centre /gym are fantastic . The pool ,sauna ,steam room are a treat after a long day of relaxing or playing golf on the world class golf course. The views from the room we had was fabulous as it looked out over the man made lake and golf course. Beautiful venue for a magical wedding. We at already planning to return. It's a slice of heaven in the heart of County Laois.

Dear Balfiebunch I am thrilled that you enjoyed your recent stay with us so much and thank you for your review. The room you stayed in is one of the most requested rooms for families and groups of 3 guests as it boasts views of the golf course and it also front facing, showcasing the beautiful entrance to the hotel. It is very spacious as you stated and the bathrooms are as luxurious as the bedrooms. Im am glad that you experienced dining in both of our outlets, Seven bar and Blakes restaurant and were equally impressed with the food and service. Breakfast in Blakes is always a great hit with our guests and leaves a great last impression on check out. I will pass your feedback to our team of chefs at how your daughter's allergies were well catered for, they will be very happy. Im delighted to hear that you are planning on returning in the future and hope that you enjoy all the facilities including the spa and golf club this time around again. Kind regards Majella Brady Front of House Manager

Stayed overnight recently and booked paying €350 for one nights B&B outrageous,
When we got there at 8pm one room left - the Disabled room with no curtains around the showers toilets set up for the Disabled -
I complained that this was a Disabled room told to take it - I paid 350 e - so what it’s a Saturday night complete indifference- read the website she says all the information is on the site
The hotels were full of special offers full of parties
However while the Tom was terrible - the breakfast was excellent and hot food was presented separately- breakfast staff were excellent
Hotel needs to tidy up its act and know when a premium customer paying 350 e per night comes

On arrival close to 1600 I found it very easy to check in also very professional checkin. My room was on the 4th floor and very easy access . The room vas very well laid out with a very spacious bathroom, and a loo which was off the bathroom again with its own door, perfect privacy when sharing a room. The Meal that night was really good, well presented, and a great variety of choice. What a nights sleep, comfortable bed, perfect air con, water and tea and coffee provided

The hotel is large and empty. The bar being the exception, we had lunch here and food was fine with some atmosphere and staff who seemed to know what they were doing. Our room was a fine size but looked out on a wall which meant the room was dark with little natural light. The spa is outside in another building and it’s ok, very spread out with minimal staff… lots of small rooms but the layout makes it hard work to get around. The swimming pool is not great, a very loud man giving a child a swimming lesson made it impossible to stay and have a swim. The worst part of the stay was Blakes Restaurant. I can’t remember a time when I’ve had a meal as bizarre. It felt like the people cooking and the waiting staff didn’t know what they were at…. I found the food really disappointing and some parts inedible in Blakes. I couldn’t eat the cod starter, the chicken ballotine tasted like it had been poached in paxo (very strong dried herbs) with a non descript emulsion that was described as a herb butter. The bread and butter pudding was a thick piece of brioche that was soggy in parts and dry in others with a wafer thin slice of apple that didn’t taste of anything. I’m a lover of food but our meal was clearly made by someone who is not. They need to start getting the basics right.

We attended Friends wedding here the weekend. We had an absolute wonderful stay. The hotel is amazing, with a spacious/open light flooding modern feel to the reception area. Extremely Friendly Staff. The wedding was amazing. The day flowed perfectly with amazing food and wine. The band have their own staged area and guests weren't disturbed while they set up which is a huge plus in my book. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Managers Paul and Majella were so professional/helpful and a great bit of craic at the same time which is quite important too. Out room had the biggest moat comfortable bed ever. It was spotless and very spacious. Bathroom had a free standing tub (as standard in all rooms) which was beautiful and really relaxing. Breakfast was amazing too. Loved the cleverly hidden area where guests can help themselves to a huge selection of freshly baked breads, fruits & cereals etc. We were served our hot full Irish by a delighted and very courteous young lady called Rebecca. She was very friendly and extremely helpful. All in all we had a fantastic weekend. Highly recommended for a stay 👌🏻

We stayed at the Heritage for a night and paid for bed and breakfast. The room itself was beautifully decorated and the bed was very comfortable. However, the night we stayed it was very windy and our room was at the front of the hotel behind a set of 3 flags. The flags were banging all night and we didn’t have a great sleep. We mentioned this at check-out but the receptionist seemed to dismiss it quite quickly. We also paid an additional €25 to use the thermal suite in the spa (which is a couple of metres walk from the hotel) We did not get any treatments but we were disappointed with the thermal suite. It was very dated, looked untidy/unclean and there was a very small outdoor pool which wasn’t that warm. The changing room floors are also covered in stained CARPET which I found extremely strange!! As I was changing I felt so uncomfortable putting my feet on the ground. It just felt very unhygienic. Overall, a very average stay. Disappointed as we had much higher expectations for our stay.

Myself and my husband treated ourselves to a 2 night stay for our anniversary and Valentines. Arrived early so we could have lunch before check in. The gentleman behind reception looked up our booking and gave it to me to check. I noticed an error in the price and when I pointed it out he informed me that the extra was for beverage to the room. Our daughter had ordered prosecco and chocolates to be put in our room as a SURPRISE!!. We booked our treatments in the spa for the next morning. The dressing room was being used by pool users and spa clients and was like a war zone. Clothes everywhere. My husband specifically asked for a deep massage with emphasis on neck and shoulders.( which were not touched by the way). He was not happy having paid 130 euro for said massage. I explained that I have sensitive skin and can't have anything too abrasive yet I was treated to an exfoliating facial and can only describe it as a sander being used on my 70 year old face. Now 4 days later my face is still burning. I did call back to the spa the next morning and was given 2 sample sachets of cream to put on my face. The worst spa experience ever!! Total ripoff!. The one saving grace was breakfast. Fresh plentiful and delicious!! Don't think we'll be back.

This review is about the Sevens bar in hotel lobby and not the hotel itself.
We are a couple staying 12 nights at an AirBnB within walking distance of The Heritage Hotel. We decided to try the “Sevens” bar in lobby for a meal and drinks. It seems it is very difficult to walk in so make a reservation. It took us 2 nights before we got a reservation.
We had a 7 pm reservation and felt totally ignored/unacknowledged when we arrived. Then it seemed that it took forever for several people to find the reservation. We kept getting asked “are you a resident of the hotel?” We were not seated for 15 minutes with a reservation despite the fact that the table they seated us at was free when we arrived.
The bar itself is very pleasant in its decor and is spacious. Mojitos were average in a small uninspiring plain glass. Menu is surprisingly limited even for a pub style menu. I had the fish and chips which is one huge piece of fish (overdone). My husband’s hamburger was good but very messy to eat.
It was the service that was severely lacking. Our female server was pleasant but inefficient in her service. Multiple times we had to ask her for things missing for our meal or to reorder a drink. And multiple times after we asked for bill before my husband just gave up and went and stood at the cash so she would come back and we could get out. Almost 15 minutes to pay after we asked.
But what was most unpleasant was how we did not feel welcomed from the moment we arrived for our 7 pm reservation, since we were not residents of the hotel. This was especially funny since our server had told us how the new General Manager (GM) wanted to welcome the local community and home owners back to the Heritage to enjoy the restaurants and bars and only the day before had hosted a big event for local Residents.
We asked her if it was less busy later in evening if we wanted to just come back and walk in for a drink. At first she said “oh yes it is lovely and you can get in.” Then she asked us “are you a resident of the hotel?” When she found out we were not, it was a 180 degree turn in her messaging and we were told “it can be quite crowded. I would recommend you try The Thatch (pub just outside the hotel grounds) as they would have space.”
We most definitely will take our business elsewhere since obviously this bar does not really want “non-residents of the hotel” to eat and drink at their bars and restaurants. Or the GM may want to have a chat with her staff on the messaging she wants them to give to non-residents.
We are from Canada and have family in the area and extended stays 1-2 x a year. We have the potential to be good customers but will think twice before we book to eat or drink at The Heritage on our next visit.
The Thatch menu and food was far superior and less expensive and way more variety in comparison.

Dear 780katem I am sorry to read about your recent experience when you visited Seven Bar. We want all guests and visitors that come to the property to feel welcome and I apologise that you did not get that impression. We did host a very successful event last week for our valuable local residents and neighbours and had hoped that the sentiment would be extended to all visitors that they are welcome to dine with us or join us for drinks. I am unsure why this did not happen for you. I invite you to come and dine with us again during this time that you are accommodated locally and again in the future when you return. Please feel free to contact me prior to your arrival on mbrady@theheritage.com and I will personal greet you at the host desk and assist in ensuring that you have a thoroughly enjoyable experience with us. A family room is one large room with two queen beds. They have rooms that interconnect so a double room for parents into a twin room with two single beds, suitable for two adults and two kids. They also have double rooms that interconnect to a family room, so again the double room for parents into a room with two queen beds, suitable for two adults and up to four kids. They also have the Penthouse Apartments with two bedrooms (one en suite), but they also have a fully equipped kitchen, dining/living room and a balcony which is safe for kids and overlooks the lovely golf course.
They have plenty of options for families, it all depends on how many is in your family and how many nights you wish to stay.
Stayed last Friday night with my daughter. Felt very safe at all time as there were sanitisers at all critical points ie reception , outside lifts on all floors, outside dining room. Etc. You need to book BOTH your dinner plus breakfast time. People didn’t sit around reception area from what I could observe but this area was NOT cordoned off. The bar appeared to be in use but staff were extremely vigilant in ensuring social distancing was observed at all times. Would highly recommend!
