Perfect place to rest, quiet in the hills. Everything is clean and working (showers, toilettes, kitchen). Warm welcome and fair price ! If you walk down the road for 500m you will find a little pub "O'neill's" with local lads, grab a pint with them, they will make you feel at home.
Travelling by motorcycle on a wet day can cause one to feel a little miserable, so I decided to arrive early at he Bluestack centre. I was more than welcomed by Tony and Rosemary, who allowed me access right away and made feel at home. Tony arranged for me to park my motorcycle under cover and inside I had just removed my dripping gear and changed, when I was invited by Tony to have dinner with some of their freinds. (Fergal the centres fitness instructor is tieing the knot and it was laid on for him) We had a excellent meal full 5 stars to chef Tony, and a bit of fun filled chat to go with it. (How fortunate was this traveller!) Clean and tidy accomodation with all facilities catered for the ernest traveller. Highly recommended...
As a base for our 2nd night this hostel is great. While not exactly on the Bluestack Way it’s about 2.5 miles south, just short of the midpoint on the Way. It’s a great place to stay, friendly, clean and comfortable but be warned there is no food there are no shops. We dropped off food the night before at the hostel. There is a Pub about a mile down the road, it’s small but it was perfect for a few pints but again there is no food. If I do the Bluestack again I’ll would stay here again. See review of Donegal Town Independent Hostel for base on 1st and 3rd night.
I’ve used the BSC for many years as a base for walking groups, it’s a great facility and I’d highly recommend it. The entire place is always spotless and the hostel is well appointed, all at a very reasonable price.
