Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great spot. Clean, friendly and welcoming. There were 10 of us and we ate dinner and breakfast and both were really good. The bed was very comfortable. We went down the road to O’Neills for pints (also top standard); great craic altogether! Thank you to Rosemary and her team. We will be back!

I went on a hens here and we had the whole place to ourselves! It was very clean as well. Beds were also very comfy. Great facilities. The room where we had the party was spacious which allowed us more room for activities. Very happy overall! Very good price as well !

Perfect place to rest, quiet in the hills. Everything is clean and working (showers, toilettes, kitchen). Warm welcome and fair price ! If you walk down the road for 500m you will find a little pub "O'neill's" with local lads, grab a pint with them, they will make you feel at home.

Travelling by motorcycle on a wet day can cause one to feel a little miserable, so I decided to arrive early at he Bluestack centre. I was more than welcomed by Tony and Rosemary, who allowed me access right away and made feel at home. Tony arranged for me to park my motorcycle under cover and inside I had just removed my dripping gear and changed, when I was invited by Tony to have dinner with some of their freinds. (Fergal the centres fitness instructor is tieing the knot and it was laid on for him) We had a excellent meal full 5 stars to chef Tony, and a bit of fun filled chat to go with it. (How fortunate was this traveller!) Clean and tidy accomodation with all facilities catered for the ernest traveller. Highly recommended...

As a base for our 2nd night this hostel is great. While not exactly on the Bluestack Way it’s about 2.5 miles south, just short of the midpoint on the Way. It’s a great place to stay, friendly, clean and comfortable but be warned there is no food there are no shops. We dropped off food the night before at the hostel. There is a Pub about a mile down the road, it’s small but it was perfect for a few pints but again there is no food. If I do the Bluestack again I’ll would stay here again. See review of Donegal Town Independent Hostel for base on 1st and 3rd night.

I’ve used the BSC for many years as a base for walking groups, it’s a great facility and I’d highly recommend it. The entire place is always spotless and the hostel is well appointed, all at a very reasonable price.

I was there with 10 friends. It is a big house with spacious rooms and a big kitchen for sharing. Everything was completely clean, even the bathrooms. It was a good stay, and the owner is very kind, for sure I’d recommend it!

We were visiting Donegal as part of a sporting event. It is a stunning part of Ireland with spectacular scenery though you may have to leave the main roads to find this. The Bluestack Centre is a good hostel in a remote area about 8km outside Donegal town. However, you would need your own transport as it's off the beaten track and a little hard to locate on the small country roads. The first route we took was extremely hilly and not for cyclists! Make sure to bring your own food as there are no shops nearby. There was a great welcome from Brendan, Rosemary and Teresa. We even popped in to have a look at a concert in the hall and it was very entertaining. There is a great sense of this hostel being rooted in the local community. It was full but it didn't feel in any way crowded. The kitchen is well-equipped and is a very friendly space. I believe the TV room was upgraded recently but doesn't work well as a welcoming space, perhaps because there's no natural light, so people tend to hang out in the kitchen instead. If you're tall, the bunk beds above might be too low above the bottom bunks, but the mattresses are very comfortable and the whole place is spotless. There are nice touches like a bookshelf with books for travellers to read and complimentary soap/hand towels in the shared bathrooms. There's an astro turf pitch and a playground outside which residents are welcome to use. WiFi was down while we were there.

Travelled here with a group of 30, 26 of whom were teenagers. The staff were fantastic and could not have been more helpful. The hostel was clean and had very well equipped cooking and showering facilities.
