It is not easy to leave it. Guides are great, too. Food is prepared perfectly. Howler monkeys everywhere. I would strongly recommend to avoid the rooms 250 steps below the main Lodge (e.g. # 15,16 and 17). Beaches are great but not perfect, rough sea much of the time; great for surfing. Staff very accommodating. Visit the incredible waterfall pictured...

Greeted with smiles, hand towels and a tropical drink with lunch awaiting. Room 9 out of 17 with an amazing view of the Gulph and Pacific Ocean amongst the rainforest. Thoughtful details with candles lit in the evening, playing cards, flowers and an evening dinner by candlelight at the pool before leaving the next morning. Staff are engaged in excellent...

If I had to envision Eden, I would describe Lapa Rios. It is unlike any place I've ever seen and I've told everyone I know about it. Where should I start? You're in the midst of the jungle and all it's beauty, living with monkeys, toucans and parrots and ocean views in open-air bungalows (there's screens, but there's a real...

I was impressed with the quality of food, the professional and amazing staff at all levels. The rooms are in the middle of the forest and have a beautiful view. Rooms are very comfortable and clean. It's one of the most amazing hotels I've been to. Easily compared with top lodges in Africa. The pool is very nice and peaceful....

We went to Lapa Rios in February 2017 and we thought it was amazing. The property is beautiful and you really feel like you are circled by the forest. The bungalows were great. There was a beautiful view of the rainforest and the bay from our bungalow. In the morning we were woken up by tropical birds and monkeys, which...

Dear Clara, thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed review of your experience. We love the fact that you do not consider yourself a "nature lover" but that you absolutely loved the "nature experience" at Lapa Rios. We try to connect our guests with nature to help them understand the importance of biodiversity conservation and it looks...

It is quite truly a unique place. A few bungalows in the middle of a private natural reserve, overlooking the Gulfo Dulce. A few words of warning though to set your expectations right. There is no a/c, there is no minibar, no bottled water and your bungalow is separated from the jungle only by a mosquito net (there is no...

Dear Wojtek, greetings from the sunny Osa Peninsula. Thanks for such a great review. We are sure it will be of great help for guests that are currently considering to visit us. No A/C - it is not necessary as we have great cross ventilation and ceiling fans. It allows you to really feel like you part of your natural...

Lapa Rios is a special place, conceived over 20 years ago, long before the three pillars of sustainability had become commonly articulated. It has been executed with vision and sustained by committed and passionate management and staff. All things considered, Lapa Rios was probably the most rewarding lodging experience we've ever had. The food was terrific, especially considering the logistical...

Dear Parker, thanks for this inspiring review and for giving us the opportunity to touch your lives. Ever since we built Lapa Rios it was about teaching the locals and our guests our mission that "no matter how you cut it, a forest left standing is worth more". And every day, we work hard to make a difference in conservation,...

We stayed for 3 nights and that was really enough. Whilst you are in the rainforest you are not really that remote being only about a km from cars, motorcycles, other houses and hotels. The site is beautiful and the lowest level bungalow was great bearing in mind the long climb up and down to the main lodge which is...

We were attracted to Lapa Rios because of the access to primary rainforest, beautiful accommodations, and commitment to sustainability. I will echo all of the positive remarks already made by others in regard to the excellence of the guides, attention to detail, comfort of accommodations, and natural beauty of the place. I have been nowhere like it and would love...

We picked Lapa Rios to end our Costa Rica trip after reading reviews online as a great place to see wildlife. It did come through in that regard. We saw all 4 species of monkeys, agouti, coati, iguanas, toucans, scarlet macaws and so on. We also did find a scorpion in the room one night. The views were also spectacular...
