Spent one night at Jay's. The beach access is great--Jay's has a shaded area to escape the sun...one of the few places in Macaneta that has shade! Prawns were delicious and the beer was cold. Accommodation was basic--only one fan in a house that sleeps 6--but clean with hot water. Staff were friendly. Would definitely recommend it--especially for a day...

We stayed at Jay's for a night with friends. It was simple and accommodating. The lodges need some additional upkeep but I think it is in progress. Otherwise it was a great stay - good drinks, food, quiet beach access. You could also easily self cater here. Will definitely come again for a quick getaway from Maputo.

We stayed in Jay's beach lodge for 3 days. The compound is remote. The houses are about 15 minutes walk from the reception and restaurant. The beach is just a few steps from the houses. The houses are big, nice and have all you need. There is a bbq. For shoppings you have to go to Marracuene. There you find...

When you arrive at Macaneta and have crossed the river, Jay's lodge is arranging your pick up and drives you to their resort. The resort is well maintained and has a good service. The beautiful beach is very close and has shades.

I have been to Mozambique a couple of times and I have visited Macaneta a few times. This was the first time my fiancé and I were going together ( I wanted to show him how amazing Mozambique can be). We chose Jay's beach lodge for valentine's weekend as a fun weekend away. If one looks at the website, nowhere...

Jay's Beach Lodge offers both chalets and camp sites. Facilities includes clean bathrooms with hot water, power and running water on most of the sites. A night guard added to a pieceful night's sleep. We had daily walks and swim on the unspoiled beach - often the only people on the beach. Our friendly host, Alna, and her 3 dogs...

We camped with my brother and sister-in-law and their family after a long drive from Johannesburg. The camping facilities are basic but they have been coming here for years and knew what to bring. The toilet block is clean and there is plenty of hot water heated by one of the staff with a wood fire when you ask. You...

I have been to Jay's twice now as a day tripper from Maputo. I'd love the opportunity to stay out there for a couple of days but so far my schedule hasn't allowed it. This is extremely convenient when coming from Maputo. When driving or taking the train, just simply give them a shout in advance and they will be...

What an amazing little gem. It is so well priced for what you get. The beaches are beautiful especially calmer in the early mornings. The sun is very hot and the pools are exquisite, absolutely perfect in temperature and cleanliness for a nice relaxing swim after the beach. The chalets are very clean, and basic, all you need really. The...
