Our recent stay on King Island will be remembered. 7 of us, all friends, invaded Green Ponds B&B. How lucky we were to discover this Gem. Our Hostess, Sonia, greeted us on arrival and immediately made us feel welcomed. Out on the sun-drenched deck with King Island cheese, biscuits and drinks. Home from Home. The fridge was overloaded with delicious food and condiments and a huge bowl of fresh fruit. Sonia provided an assortment of Tea & Coffee Sonia’s Hot “just out of the oven” scones greeted us one morning. Not only scones, but Sonia's contact for fresh lobster resulted in a lobster banquet cooked and prepared by Sonia The decor was homely comfortable and interesting with books, rugs, bric-a-brac and crockery. Everything had a story, history and charm. The garden was delightful. Thank you, Sonia, for a wonderful 5 day experience. Colin…
We stayed 2 nights and highly recommend Green Ponds. From the cosy woodfire , interesting books, very comfy bed, delicious home made scones, fully stocked pantry and fridge and of course our friendly host, Sonia... our weekend was perfect.
My sister and I spent a week on K.I. exploring rugged coastlines, gorgeous beaches, beautiful scenery and enjoyed wonderful food and friendly locals. Out host, Sonia, at Green Ponds B&B, was more than helpful ...a 'bonus' full fridge and pantry, along with complimentary fresh scones, courtesy of Sonia, made our stay there most enjoyable! The B&B was cosy, comfortable, clean and we highly recommend Green Ponds Cottage.
We stayed in Green Ponds Cottage for 3 nights and it was just perfect. The cottage is extremely welcoming and hostess, Sonia, provided us with a fully stocked pantry and fridge including famous KI cheeses ( huge packs) fresh fruit, bread, home made jams/marmalades and also brought us freshly made cheese scones during our stay. The lovely garden contains parsley and a tamarillo tree with ripening fruit in additional to pretty cottage plants and hanging baskets. It’s all sheltered from the strong winds by a hedge which also provides privacy. The bed was very comfortable and reverse air conditioner was effective at warming the cottage on cool nights. We had a glorious break in this gorgeous cottage and would love to return to this wonderful Island one day. Thanks Sonia, we loved it all!!…
Five members of The Headstone Project travelled to King Island for the unveiling of four headstones on the previously unmarked graves of four veterans who had died on King Island. From the time we landed on Friday morning til we left on Monday afternoon we enjoyed island hospitality and the wonderful sights that King Island had to offer. We loved the fact that we had the whole house to ourselves. The scones that we enjoyed soon after arriving were just beautiful. There is nothing like fresh baked scones using grandma's recipe. No lemonade in sight. It was a privilege to be invited to take part in the KI RSL's Centenary of the Armistice celebrations. It was great fun marching down the road to the War Memorial Park to place an image of a soldier who had served and to be able to speak at the dinner on Saturday night. An amazing place and so well worth the visit.…
