We stayed four nights in this self catering chalet style unit which is located separately from the main hotel. There are two of these units which back onto each other and are of the same design but sleep different numbers of people. Our unit had a loft area that contained a queen sized bed (reasonably comfortable) and two single beds. A curtain, if needed, separated the two sleeping areas. There was a small bedside table and reading lamp on either side of the queen bed and also next to one of the single beds. The only other furniture was a chest and a chest of drawers. There was a ceiling fan. Downstairs was a large combined lounge and dining room and a full sized kitchen. The lounge room was furnished with a 2 seater lounge and 2 single lounge chairs, a coffee table and a flat screen TV on a stand. In a corner near the stairs was a round dining table with four chairs. This area had an air conditioner. The kitchen opened onto the lounge room, being separated by a bench which had two high stools. The kitchen was equipped with a full stove with cook top, full sized fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave and a reasonable amount of pots, pans, crockery and cutlery and some starter cooking materials. The bathroom was fairly large with a walk-in shower and a washing machine. The units are only a 3 minute drive or a 10-15 minute walk to the Main Street in Currie. Lady that we spoke to on the phone to book the accommodation was very helpful but did not meet anyone whilst there. The reception was unattended when we arrived but there was a notice saying how to get to the units and the key was in the door. We left the key in the door when we left. It would appear from discussions we had with the locals that most people leave their houses unlocked. The unit was very clean and tidy. There was a small balcony out the front but it was too windy when we were there to sit there comfortably. There was plenty of free parking. No WI-FI here and actually very little on King Island at all. Non-Telstra phone services also non-existent. This accommodation was very comfortable and very quiet as it was away from the main complex. However perhaps the best aspect was the uninterrupted view of the rugged western coastline, which is directly exposed to the wild Great Southern Ocean, and the Currie Lighthouse. Would definitely stay here again.…
Great spot to stay, group of 8 blokes fishing and golfing, ideal ! Breakfast was at 7 , but explained we were heading off early one morning so the manager got up at 5.30 and got us going, couldn't do enough for us ! we will be back for certain.
The view sells this place but the rooms are very old and dated and feels dirty. We spent very little time in the room, instead out exploring the island. Included continental breakfast was ok, but overall this place is not realgood value.
Donna made us very welcome although the place was essentially closed for the winter. We had rooms with wonderful views over the ocean. Rooms basic but clean and neat. Bathroom good strong shower hot service!
There isn’t a lot of choice on King Island but this hotel is comfortable if a little dated......It is certainly quiet and they supply a continental breakfast in the tariff so represents reasonable value
Spent four days at Boomerang by the Sea .Our hosts were just amazing ,Basic rooms.but very comfortable. Meals cooked by Cheryl ,all just so delicious ,our bus driver ,Mike showed us so many sights, lots of imfo ,and a few jokes!!! Wonderful views of the rugged coastline from all rooms. Highly recommend King Island ,
Had lunch last Sunday with a group of people who flew down from Melbourne on the Gooneybird (a DC3). It was a great day. Picked up at the airport by Mike who doubles/triples as the bus driver, tour guide, barman, waiter and probably anything else that is needed to be done! All his tasks were completed very efficiently with a great sense of humour and we were provided with interesting and informative commentary at all times. Lunch was excellent - seafood and beef buffet. Lots of prawns, oysters and muscles - all tasted incredibly fresh and were well presented. Beef was a little overcooked to our tastes but that's probably what happens on a buffet catering for 30-odd people. The mixed vegetables with the beef were particularly flavourful - first time my husband has eaten all his vegies. Desert was also lovely but unfortunately I had eaten too much seafood and couldn't finish the really lovely pannacotta. Overall it was a fantastic day, thank you to all the staff at Boomerang - highly recommended.…
Stayed 2 nights. Very quiet location. Great views of the golf course and ocean. Rooms are basic yet clean and tidy. Price is on the high side however accommodation options are limited on the island. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. Restaurant is very nice with exceptional wine list and selection of foods. Short walk [or drive] to town. Overall a good stay and would happily stay again on next visit.
We stayed for a golfing holiday and it is an older style motel with a need to upgrade, but the rooms are clean and it has really great views across the sea. Lots of wallabies congregating on the grass behind the motel and you can just walk down to the local golf course, a nice 9 hole layout with alternative tee and pin positions. We had a function there and dinner was very nice. Huge portions of well cooked fish and lamb racks. Breakfast is plentiful and the bar is well stocked.
Need to be updated room are starting to get very run down .Heating is very poor just a little blow heater that stuck on 16 degress .on a windy night sliding doors rattle alot just put toilet paper in door to stop rattle bed is ok .the restaurant is the best
