Like others we enjoyed our recent 3 nights immensely. The unit was as advertised, the view was marvellous. Some of the fixings need attention, blinds missing Rods etc. Met at the Airport and escorted to the unit with a brief rundown on what was what. My only Beef about the unit was the Kitchen utensils, dirty and not cleaned properly. We washed Knives and forks before use. maybe a bit more attention to the Basics., simple no cost way to please paying customers We will definitely recommend the unit to others and we will be back

Spent Easter at Blencathra Cottage. The cottage is located on the outskirts of Currie and has views out across the harbour to the Lighthouse and on out to sea. The ocean can even be viewed from when sitting in the relaxing recliners in the living area. It is a lovely place to sit, watch and listen to the weather outside. A short walk will take you down to a secluded 'beach' below the cottage. It is quite strange being illuminated by the lighthouse beam every 30 seconds or so. Currie is only a few minutes away by car but the cottage is fully equipped for self catering. there are books, some CD and DVDs provided. For 3 nights we didn't even turn the TV on. The King Island Dairy is just a few minutes up the road where you can buy their excellent cheeses at very good prices. This is an ideal base to explore the island from. Currie has two supermarkets and a few cafes/restaurants. The east coast beaches are fantastic, particularly Disappointment Bay and Martha Lavinia. King island is quiet and the locals are very friendly. Would recommend staying here for a relaxing time. Don't forget the King Island wave when driving!

My husband and I picked to stay here as it looked so tranquil and quiet. We stayed in the Blencathra Cottage the one bedroom and it is a home away from home but; with fantastic views and quiet. We had a great array of weather when we stayed and it was awesome just watching the pounding ocean and wild winds with lots of clean fresh air blew the cobwebs away. Just to watch the fishing boats come in and out of Currie Harbour and the Lighthouse just over the sea. The location is great not far from anywhere. We were fortunate to see lots of wonderful rainbows just outside the cottage and a full moon, just magic. There is a bigger cottage behind this one for families. The bed was really comfortable as well as the pillows the cottage has everything and even a spa bath. Denise was great to come and meet us at the airport and see if we were ok after the wild weather, which did not stop us enjoying ourselves or exploring the island. You can walk down to the sea from the cottage and have a nice walk or just watch the ocean. There are pheasants, seagulls and wallabies to see, we also saw a few sea eagles which were magnificient. I don't think I would ever tire of the looking at the ocean or the calmness of this place; I hopefully would love to return to this magic Island.

Hello Chris and Tim I'm pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay so much and would be delighted to have you come back to visit the Island again I see you have been busy with the camera Many thanks for the photos to add to the gallery Thank you particularly for the interior of the one bedroom as they were missing here and you certainly got a bit of everything weatherwise but that's King Island at times Kind regards Denise

We loved Shannon Cottages so much we have made two trips to King Island and are planning a third. The Cottages have a beautiful view across Currie Harbour to the Light House. The Cottages are set up like a home away from home, with the pantry stocked with all the basics you need to add to your meals eg. flours, sauces, gravy etc. The laundry cupboard is also packed with picnic gear, fishing gear, coats, hats, torches etc. every thing you need for a day out in beautiful King Island. The host Denise O'Keefe, was so helpful and friendly, and greeted us at the airport and dropped us of at the cottages, which are a pleasant walk into Currie. King Island is such a friendly relaxing place with some great restaurants, fantastic scenery and so much wild life. It is the best place to leave the hustle and bustle of a busy life behind, I came home feeling re energised. I highly recommend Shannon Cottages and King Island as a must for a wonderful getaway.

This is one of my favourite places on earth! We have stayed in Blencathra (one bedroom cottage) twice for 4 days at a time. Shannon is the two bedroom cottage on the same property. King Island is a wild and windy place, with some of the best produce on the planet. The cheese factory is legendary, but the beef, lamb and lobster is also "melt in the mouth". The cottages are situated on a headland looking out to sea and you get to watch the fishing trawlers ride the waves in each day. It is spacious and extremely well provisioned by the owners and other fellow travellers who help to stock the cupboards. The bed is really comfortable, the bathroom and spa bath is fabulous and there is an ample supply of videos, cds and books. Really, you just go there for the peace and quiet. It is such a fantastic place to escape all the hustle and bustle of the mainland. For us "east coasters", watching the sun set into the ocean is also magic. You'll never want to leave.
