We first visited Yachana Lodge in Feb 1998 with two toddlers when we were living in Ecuador. We returned Dec 2016 with two young adults. We were disappointed that we could drive in - it wasn't as remote as it had previously been. But the stay was still wonderful. We had the place to ourselves and the staff were delightful....

We had a wonderful stay at a lovely place overlooking the Napo river. It's a great place to get to know the Amazon basin and the people who live there. Our guide and the staff were very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly.

We had an awesome time at the Lodge. The Bungalows oversea the Napo river a view which is hard to beat. Our guide Alfonso was absolutely superb. We did day and night jungle trips, went with a canoo to a family to see how they live - it sounds touristy but we were only 6 and it felt not strange...

As I wrote in the title, I did not actually get to visit the lodge (ran out of time in the end to go), but I am writing anyway because I was highly impressed with their customer service via email exchange. Here is what happened: I have a big phobia of insects and spiders; despite that, I still wanted to...

We're glad we went to Yachana for our Amazonas visit. Wonderful nature, nice and clean rooms and excellent staff that takes good care of the sorroundings (both nature and locals). The dinners at Yachana were impressive. Keep up the good work! /M&M

Everything about our stay here was fantastic. The rooms were clean and comfy, and the hammocks on the balcony were a great (and much used) touch. It's worth noting that this was the only place with potable drinking water that we visited during a 6 week South America trip. The food was excellent and fresh for every meal, with a...

This is an educational as well as a tourist destination. In addition to spectacular views and superb food, Yachana Lodge provides the satisfaction that you are helping local residents learn practical craft such as woodworking and construction. A truly unique equatorial experience.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
After 17 years of operating on the other side of the Napo River, we have built a new, stunningly beautiful Yachana Lodge within our 2,500-acre reserve. In our new location you will discover a hidden secret of the Amazon: a world class, award winning "Geotourism Lodge". There are 14 luxurious cabins built on a bluff overlooking the Napo River with spectacular views of the river and the Andes in the distance, surrounded by lush natural forests and beautiful gardens. All cabins have private bathrooms with hot water shower and large porches with hammocks. A major activity for our guests is our Lost Foods of the Amazon culinary program; visiting and harvesting on a local farm, then preparing your lunch and eating it in our beautiful, open dining area designed in the style of a typical Amazonian hut, with spectacular views of the Napo River. We also offer walks in the rainforest, incredible birding and other cultural activities. Yachana's accommodations and activities are targeted at the traveller who cares about sustaining and enhancing the geographical character of the Amazon - its rainforest environment, culture, aesthetics, heritage, and the well being of its residents. The Yachana Foundation for 23 years has created opportunities in ecotourism, education, conservation, income generation and health care throughout the Ecuadorian Amazon. ... more   less
