Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went for a Christmas themed weekend. The front of the building looks ok and was decorated in the foyer with some wonderful Christmas decorations. Staff didnt seem the happiest but not an issue. Had our chalet keys. The chalet I paid for was an upgrade, that's laughable!! It was around the back will say near to everything but then there isn't a lot there. The chalet had 3 single beds, the bedding looked nice and clean, so did the towels. As for the rest of the chalet, could have done with a good clean. Thick dust all on the skirting, remains of a tissue on the floor by the bed, a birds feather at the edge of the carpet Thick cup rings on the bedside table. I felt I didn't want to touch anything. The back of the entertainments entrance looked less than appealing, stains all down the door and just generally looked grubby. The entertainment was okay but having been told the entertainment was great we were quite dissapointed. There was 1 bar and most of the time the queue was long. The food hall felt like school dinners, queuing to eat. Food was nice enough, but not the best. Went to the queen vic pub on the Saturday night and sat by the door, but sadly all I could smell was the toilets in the hallway. Needless to say we cut our weekend short and left a day early. Have sent a message to Pontins but sadly no response yet.

£99 weekend Turkey n Tinsel break. I agree that the reception staff are not very welcoming - terrible when that's your first impression of the site. The whole site is tired and uncared for with very few staff around. Rooms are basic and that's okay but other than clean bedding and towels, they are definitely not cleaned to even a basic standard - put my jeans on the carpet when unpacking and they were COVERED in dust, hair etc and the bathroom floor was the same but the bed was comfortable, the room was warm as was the shower - the wash basin water is dangerously hot!

Went tobPomtims Sand Bay with both my neighbours they've been coming here for years but they said they were disappointed with the entertainment and the food. Well it as like a cattle market every meal breakfast and Evening meal.pensioners queuing and arguing about people getting other peoples food. There was 740 people there on a Mon -Fri tinsel nd turkey week entertainment as very very disappointed Line dancing or ballroom no other entertainment.,till last day . Xmas Dinner was very very poor theyveven ran out of food on the Xmas day thees wasn't any pigs in blanket no stuffing, ran out of turkey nd Xmas pudding no mince pies .. Room was OK but couldn't shut windows properly safety being the key. People fighting over tables at night ,people complaining about people saving tables nd causing fights over it. Muy 1st time her doing it won't be doing again rather stay home for a week nd enjoy myself xx Very very disappointed and so we my neighbours x

Myself my wife and six members of our family are at Sand bay for a Turkey and Tinsel break. I will make this review very brief the bar prices have been increased so much that very few of the guests are able to afford the prices I.e double rum and coke and a lager £14 single shorts are £4-25 .the Buffet has been significantly reduced in the choice of food on offer. And the chalets which we all have have not been updated and are really tired and scruffy. After many happy trips to this resort I think this will be our last. They seem to have forgotten that 90% of their guests are pensioners.

terrible experience, women staff on the reception were rude and ignorant, we upgraded as we thought but the couple next door stated that they were all the same rooms without upgrading, had to buy a cooler box from tesco as no fridge supplied in the room, cobwebs hanging from the ceilings, pool was closed and used as a storage for broken beds, no temperature taken on arrival hence picked up COVID from there, I tested prior to going and was clear so had to pick it up from the camp, ruined my holiday as had to self isolate in the awful room for the 5 days. unable to complain to the management by mail 2 weeks after we returned only to be told it was too late even though I explained how ill I was for the 2 weeks on my return but no sympathy given, I would advice people to check the reviews prior to booking, never again would I stay at any of the pontoon camps can see why some of them were closing, all food was bland and tepid

Good points.- Lovely food, Cheap drinks at the bar, Bad points- springs coming through mattress, Mould on wall in chalet, Toilet and room obviously not cleaned from previous guests, Heating only came on for a few hours a day, And it’s November. Went home after one night.

We booked via buyagift and went with low expectations, just saw it as a cheap place to stay local to places we wanted to visit. We initially weren’t going to visit the restaurant or entertainment but actually enjoyed both. The negatives: It could definitely do with a bit of TLC, a lick of paint and a new mattress wouldn’t go amiss. Reception staff weren’t particularly welcoming. Bathroom was unclean, like it hadn’t been touched by the cleaners, but I’d read previous reviews and brought some cleaning bits myself. Would be great if the pool was open. Positives: location is perfect for a few days away, restaurant food was decent with good choice (better than we thought, although veggie options could be made available on the buffet), and the entertainment was enjoyable. We enjoyed Rachael’s singing and the Everly Brothers tribute. Overall it was a good stay. It’s cheap for a reason, there are some negatives, but if you want a place to stay near a beach within a budget it’s a good place to go.

Just returned from four nights at Pontins Sand Bay. The room was 247 and was one of the refurbished ones with twin bed and walk in shower. Very clean with good bedding and towels. Take your own pillow though if you like a firm one. Food was self service buffet style and was good for the money ( £79 for four nights half board) The entertainment was ok although there was a lot of ballroom dancing. They did have a artistes on each night and bingo. It’s was a shame the Queen Vic next door was not open as not everyone like ballroom three hours a night. All in all value for money adults only place. Will go again
