went for the Christmas meal and dance - Worst I have ever experienced - meal served a hour and a half later than promised - when it finally arrived with the exception of the soup the meal was truly awful. dried up meat, tasteless mushy veg, sickly over sweet pudding The majority of my party left all or most of it. Guests were crammed in with hardly any room to dance, this in the limeted time left after the outrageous delay serving the meal

DO NOT COME HERE IS MY ADVICE !!!!!!!! What a terrible, horrible hotel. We have stayed in hundreds of hotels etc in the UK and this is the very WORST HOTEL EVER. We checked in @ 14.35 on 2/12/2022 and noticed the heating in our room and surrounding corridors was not on. Soon after, at about 15.30, I went to reception and a lady said she would speak to the manageress, in a back room, and was told the heating would be back on at about 16.00. At about 17.00 I returned to the Reception and told the same lady that there was still no heating. She said that the manageress had not come back to her and I ushered her to get a response – I was told that the Manageress was too busy to talk to me as she was involved in an 'event'. We were offered another room which did not have a sea view (which we had paid for and had a shower – not a bath - which my wife can not use for medical reasons). The room was also very cold as was the corridor approaching it as reception had turned the heating off here as well. The heating in our bedroom came on at about 17.15. for the first time that day. At approx 19.00 the heating went off and I returned to the reception. The lady there came to our room and turned on the thermostatic radiator valve in nearby corridors and gave us the mobile heater from their Reception. The heater is only effective if it is within a metre and most definitely not sufficient to heat a large room. I also informed her that the bathroom sink hot water tap was not working and the 'TV' above the bath was not working as well. She had no excuses to offer but the radiator did come back on a while later. On 3/12 we left the hotel early to return @ approx 17.00. The radiator was hot all evening. On 4/12 the radiator in our room was again cold, as were the surrounding corridors. It had not come on in the morning. There is no telephone in the room but at about 08.00 we 'phoned the hotel from our mobile to inform them that the radiator was again not working and that the room was extremely cold. The Reception was not open and a message was left on their answer machine. We had to dress in almost icy conditions and go for breakfast @ approx 09.15. All of the hotel was very cold. At breakfast we sat at a table and when we went to get our cereals our coffee 'jug' was put on our table. There are a few dangerous tables that are not flat and our coffee was left on the edge of our table and in our absence was seen to slide off the table and 'erupt' over the floor which could have caused severe scalding. When we went to get orange juice from the bar there were no glasses and the jug was empty. I asked the waitress for some glasses and a fresh jug of juice and she walked around to he bar to see if I was telling the truth before going into the kitchen to do as I had requested. This was the same lady that put our coffee on the edge of the table instead of more centrally to prevent the accident that did take place. After breakfast I went to the reception. The lady I spoke to had just arrived and VERY coincidently when we returned to our room the radiator had just come on. It is obvious that the central heating system is controlled at the Reception. There is also an electrical wall switch right next to the wc pan that is switched to the 'on' position in the bathroom !! There is a shower hose from the bath taps but no shower curtain or place to hang the shower hose from. What is so odd is that the underfloor heating in the bathroom seems to be on all the time making the bedroom feeling even more cold. Only one of the staff (a young man taking the breakfast orders) was polite, and able to demonstrate basic in house skills. At no point did management come to our room and discuss our issues or give us an apology. DO NOT COME HERE IS MY ADVICE.

Tried The Bay at South Sands today for Sunday lunch. Was expecting a simple three course menu only to be greeted by a welcome glass of Prosecco, and really tasty ham hock wellington amuse bouche. We had ham hock starters plus one had the home@made tomato soup. The trotter beans that came with the ham hock were lovely. A little bit of spice but went well with the terrine. We then we’re offered the choice of a raspberry or lemon palate cleansing sorbet. The lemon one was very zingy. The roast main was massive. Lots of lovely veg, beef was pink and tender and beautifully cooked. I have to confess I left a little of the veg so I could make sure I had room for dessert. Now I’m not a dessert girl but the beef dripping sticky toffee pudding had to be tried. WOW. It was stunning. The miso caramel sauce made it a little less sweet and complimented the pudding flavour which was rich in flavour. The price even included tea or coffee. Definitely the best roast I’ve had out in a long time. Will be back. #sundayroast #eatwestonsupermare

It was easy to reach a number of Somerset attractions by car but able to relax in a quiet village in a hotel with two restaurants. The food was ace with new choices as Specials every day. The chef rose fish and chips to a completely new level of taste. I would gladly stay again. It was by choice a chill out break and I came home super relaxed.Personally I would say more for adults as the beach was not I would consider safe for kids

We went just for a weekend break. Lovely welcome including a complimentary drink. Room not large, but super clean and nicely decorated, with safe, fridge and nice en-suite. Food all ok, but fantastic in The Bay restaurant if a little pricey. Highly recommend the seaview rooms, as the beach is literally across the road. All in all a really good, value for money hotel.

We arrived at the hotel to be greeted with a welcome cocktail. All the staff were so friendly. The location was great. A beautiful spot. We ventured onto the Coastal bus to take us into Weston-Super-Mare and the views on this short trip was breath taking! The food in the restaurant was amazing top class and the breakfast equally so. I would highly recommend this hotel on all counts!

Unfortunately I have to start with the negative first. The walls in this hotel are paper thin so much so we had the tv on max (100l and still couldn't drown out the 2 parties happening downstairs in the function room nor the young family next door banging and screaming. If your going to the function then book, but forget a quiet weekend if not ! The hotel itself is beautifully decorated having a recent refurbishment (2021) and all the staff we encounter were polite and helpful (apart from noise on the Saturday night) with a lovely wild beach right outside (a great walk) The food at the Rock Salt restaurant was tasty if a tad expensive (is this the new norm perhaps ?) With a pint of cider and med glass of wine just over £10. A lovely hotel in a great setting totally let down by its preference to function room parties than guests and its paper thin walls.

Went for afternoon tea in The Bay. First of all we paid £20 per person and the menu confirmed it was served with champagne and when this was queried we were told it was the wrong menu!! For our money we got the weakest pots of tea, simply undrinkable. Clearly ill equipped to deal with gluten-free food which was provided for one of our party which was inedible. The replacement scones were as hard as rock and looked like overcooked Yorkshire puddings. The portions are absolutely tiny and the sandwiches were starting to go stale at the end where I assume they have been made in advance and may have been left out under the air-conditioning. Would not recommend and would not return! The only plus point I can give is that the decor is lovely.

After just returning from south sands I must say it was a pleasant trip! Located close enough to Weston super mare but lovely and peaceful with beautiful sea view and car parking! Breakfast included in room rate, which is always a plus. Room and bathroom were on the smaller side, but clean and modern, great for what we needed, as this was just a base. Sea view was lovely! The only downside to this hotel is the sounds around the hotel. Walls are paper thin. In our room we could hear the floorboards and all movement of the floor above. Then the constant restaurant music from below morning and night! Although this didn’t ruin our trip, it did have us waking up earlier and going to sleep later than planned and ruined the tranquility of the location slightly. I would return however I would request a room on the upper floor to hopefully avoid the music and creaking.

The hotel is next to the beach but unfortunately behind the sand dunes restricting the view. Parking is free and the hotel has recently been refurbished offering a clean bright beach style in the Salt Rock restaurant. There is also a more formal restaurant. Our room was comfortable but due to the late booking was only a standard double, which was smaller than we would have wanted and had a split ensuite with separate toilet. When booking again we would opt for a Superking size room. A very enjoyable stay never the less and would certainly return.
